Really a fantastic restaurant! Especially the ‘60 second NY Strip’
We were celebrating our 20th Anniversary. Upon arriving, they had a card and two glasses of champagne waiting for us. We then ordered our apps, dinner and desert. Let’s just say-it was one of the most delicious meals we’ve had. The Sushi tots were out of this world; the NY strip was done to perfection. The steak was seared crisp on one side and melted in your mouth. I’m salivating as I type-;). The scallops were just as delicious. The dessert was also outstanding. As for the service-top of the line. Attentive. Friendly. Perfect. We will definitely return.
We have been here several times. We absolutely love it especially brunch. The food was great as usual but the server we had last sunday was not on point as the others have been. She seemed a little out of it. She served our coffees differently and did not check on us periodically as the others have. It just seemed as if she was just not wanting to be there that day. Other than that everything was Great
Great atmosphere- will definitely be back. Want to try dinner next time - brunch was amazing!
Celebrated my sister's 30 birthday, they went above and beyond for our group! Food, cocktails and service were great! Highly recommend for a special occasion dinner.
Air conditioner seemed to be broken. Very hot throughout entire dinner.
I love 5 Church! Everything exceeded my wildest expectations! The location, ambiance, hospitality and service was absolutely top notch. Everything was so good we went back twice and it was the same great food and service.
I would highly recommend it and the braided ravioli and the lamb burger with special sauce were to die for.
Heard good things about the place so decided to give it a try. Everyone I was with enjoyed their meal, but my dish was lacking. I got the huevos rancheros and it was pretty boring. It said in the menu it came with cilantro (a favorite of mine) but there was watercress in it instead. The pork was not very tender and overall the dish had zero creativity.
But would steer them away from our waiter who did not appear clean, chewed gum with his mouth open to the point I was concerned it might fall out of his mouth on to the table. He spent 8 minutes talking to the table next to us before ever engaging us. Really disappointing overall. Could have been a much better experience
Our server, Anferny, was phenomenal!! Highly recommend the restaurant & ask for Anferny as your server!
This was my first time at the restaurant and it was an incredible time! My date and I had a wonderful experience! My special request was met. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the items on the menu and even helped me decide what I wanted to eat (sea scallops) based on his description. Overall it was a wonderful time and made the night very special for me and my girl! Can’t wait to be back!
We had a great dinner at 5 Church, the food was outstanding and the service was very good. The structure/decor of the restaurant is pretty unique, the building use to be a church back in the 1880’s and they have beautiful stain glass windows in the restaurant. The ceilings are extremely high and there is excerpts from “ The Art of War Book” hand written on it. The place has a very hip current vibe and the Chef does a fantastic job with the presentation/flavors with the meals. They have a great long bar with tons of seating and a good wine menu. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a great meal and a nice evening!
The restaurant is quite breathtaking and the food was delicious as well. They also have a great bar with a beautiful visual. It is hard not to like this place. I think the waiter told us it was built as a church in 1816 for the sailors.
Fantastic meal! The ambiance of the old church was great. Best dishes of the night were the sushi tots appetizer and the 60 second steak. One of the best steaks I’ve ever had!
Great food and service. The cocktails are amazing
An absolute must while in Charleston!! Fantastic food, gorgeous venue, and really great service!
Best food and service! Anfernee was the best server too!
We indicated it was a special occasion and they never acknowledged. Food was awesome but, service was ok. They kinda forgot about us.
My husband and I came here on the recommendation of a friend and it didn’t disappoint. We were greeted with a glass of champagne to celebrate our 24 year anniversary and ended with a magnificent dessert. Our server was very knowledgeable and all his recommendations were amazing. The church building itself was entertaining in itself as the entire book THE ART OF WAR is written on the ceiling. Original stained glass and hardwoods and a beautiful bar to boot. Look forward to returning.
Atmosphere was very cool. Waiter Joshua was great and very attentive
The ambiance, food, wine list and drinks were above and beyond. If we could give service a 10, we would. Our server was Sam and she was the absolute best person that we encountered during our stay in Charleston and we met some very nice people. She was so knowledgeable of the menu and wine list and she even gave us recommendations based on what we told her we liked to eat and she was spot on! If you're reading this 5Church....don't let Sam get away! If you're visiting Charleston, then 5Church is a must!!! My only critique, if you will, is that we were not there longer to eat there again!
Great brunch. Fried chicken blt was awesome
Brunch was delicious--would absolutely recommend!!
Atmosphere was incredible. Food was good. Service was great. I would recommend brunch
Great place overall . Love the charm of the old church and the thoughtful decor. Best thing we had was the fried chicken followed closely by the sushi appetizer . NY strip was great but the ribeye was just ok , have had better . The grouper was very good . Service was a little too slow but it was very crowded . Definitely will come again !
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. This was a special vacation and we splurged on cocktails, appetizers, entrees and dessert. Everything was delicious. The pace of the meal was slow, but we weren’t in a rush, so it was enjoyable. Our server was attentive and cheerful without hovering. We are very happy we decided to try 5Church tonight!
Great space. Go to the bar for drinks and dine elsewhere.
We visited five Church to celebrate a visiting friends birthday. We often visit five church as a couple and mostly for brunch, but have learned not to go there with a large party on a Saturday night. The service was slow the food not done properly and so loud as a table of eight we could not even talk to the people at the other end of the table. The worst part was we all ordered off of the daily chef selections, one member ask if they could substitute the potato for just additional vegetables do to a food allergy. He was told no the chef does not want to compromise the integrity of the meal and the food selections are made to complement one another. He did offer to bring an additional side of the green beans however they showed up on the bill. I definitely do not recommend this restaurant if you have food allergies or dietary restrictions if so be prepared to not be able to make substitutions or have your restrictions accommodated for. The staff was apologetic regarding food that took over two hours to come to our table and a slight adjustment was made to the bill but that didn’t change the fact that we Waited over an hour and a half to get food which would then wasn’t cooked right and one person didn’t get their food for another 40 minutes may return for brunch for two people but that will be it
I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone! From the food to the service to the ambiance, everything was amazing. One of the best experiences we have had downtown!
Excellent service and amazing food! They made my birthday special!
5 Church is a good restaurant.
Always a great brunch. It’s our go to for brunch when have out of town guests. Never disappointed!
They were 25 minutes behind on the reservation for my birthday.
From the moment you set foot in this gorgeous Church, you know you’re in for a fantastic experience. From the ambience thru the serving and dishes, we had an outstanding experience.
Fantastic menu with creative cocktails. Very interesting and trendy decor. Elegant without being pretentious.
The evening started with complementary champagne and just got better. Every waiter who approached us has interesting information about the food, and readily gave endorsements for their favorite dishes, even the cheaper ones, which would result in a lower tip for them. The menu included the option to send a six pack to the kitchen, which I readily took because the food itself was superb. Not the cheapest place but if you’re looking to treat yo’ self, 100% worth it!
Met relatives for lunch. Selections were varied and interesting. Service was very good and ambiance was unique ... a refurbished church.
Just a wonderful place!
5Church is amazing in every way - the converted church, the service, the food and drinks were all perfect. It was extremely busy evening when we arrived but we were seated promptly. Our server was fantastic and knew the menu thoroughly. He was extremely helpful with suggestions. Our cocktails were delicious, as was the complimentary hummus and the mussels that we ordered as an appetizer. Both of our meals were perfect; scallops and the braided ravioli. The entire experience was perfection. I can't wait to go back the next time I'm in Charleston.
