Upon reading the reviews, I opted to dine here last night with some friends. The server was very nice and attentive. We asked several questions concerning their salads, primarily about the size as it would be for dinner. We were told that the beet salad was "medium to large" size. 2 of us ordered this along with a piece of salmon as our protein. Also ordered the fried polenta and potatoes which had rave reviews on OpenTable as a shared appetizer. App arrives and is....bland. Definitely nothing to write home about. Our salads arrive and my friend and I just stare at the the plate in shock. There were approx 8-10 beet slices (thinly sliced) with a piece of salmon atop each order. If that salad was "medium to large" there is most definitely a problem. While the salmon was cooked perfectly, it didn't have much flavor missing, I believe, salt. No drinks were ordered by us other than water. Once we received our checks, I couldn't believe what we were charged for a $10 beet salad and a piece of salmon! The $9 for the app was on my check since I ordered it - the total was $41! So, taking into consideration the $10 salad and $9 app, I was charged $18 for the salmon!! There was no pricing for the protein anywhere on the menu so we assumed that, like other restaurants, the protein would be $10-$12. To charge $28 for my meal was absolutely excessive. At the very least, the server should have informed us of the additional charge prior to placing the order. Had I enjoyed every bite of this meal, I may have ignored the price; however, to charge that amount on a meal that was mediocre is unconscionable. There may have been an issue with whichever chef was working on that particular evening, so I may give it another try, but I would definitely not recommend this establishment.

This was our 4th or 5th visit. The food was delicious as usual. Portions were very generous. Ceasar salad & and beet salad were divided in half since 2 people were sharing each app. The filet was cooked as ordered, medium rare. 2 good-sized portions of snapper were not overcooked, as was the backend Grouper, which were ordered medium. The only complaint was the nose level. It was very difficult to carry on conversations in our booth. There were 2 really loud tables chatting with each other

Exceptional setting, quite intermate and tasteful. The service provided by Michael was top notch. He was very attentive to our need without being overally bothersome by stopping by to ask how was everything 20 times. From the appetizers to dessert the food was fantastic. Our only complaint was the 3 or 4 year old seated at the table behind us was really out of control. Oh well, we just chalked it up to two 68 year old grandparents who raised our children a little different. Otherwise great place to unwind after a day on the beach.

Another terrific dinner at 42nd. Even better than our last time and we thought that was excellent. We shared the calamari appetizer. It was crispy, light and delicious. Two of us had the scallops and white beans entree. It was fantastic. The beans are cooked with pork belly, giving it a rich and multi level profile that’s just so good! We both loved it. Our third had the ribeye steak. He enjoyed every bite. We all had cocktails that were cold and tasty and I enjoyed a glass of the rose that was recommended with the scallops. It was perfect. We were too full for dessert so had to pass. We will most certainly return.

Dined on a Wed. evening. By about 8 pm I think we were the only ones in the restaurant. So much for the top reviews. Had the special which was the short ribs. Food arrived barely lukewarm. I immediately told the waiter that the food was hardly even warm. His reply was " I'll tell the chef." That was it . Nothing done. Much better choices right up the road at half price. Way overpriced.
