Came for the free cheese plates, but you were "out," so I bought one at half-price. Wow -- people pay $10.95 for that? It's like a kraft single cut up into little pieces! Food is good for the most part, but that really turned me off. One of my plates had a black smear on it, so you should check out your dishwasher; another diner at my table had a glass that was chipped. The waiter treated us like we weren't going to tip (we did).

24 Diner is absolutely amazing! This is our third visit and we have had no complaints. This time we came for Thanksgiving dinner and we were very impressed by every dish that was served. This is definitely one of my favorite Austin restaurants!

Don't be misled by the name or the concept. This is NOT a diner in any sense, and that is a good thing. While it does have some diner feel, the food is anything but. Yes, you will find diner staples, like meatloaf on the menu, but the dishes are so elevated that you will rushing back again and again. You would be hard pressed to find this level of quality, taste and talent in most local restaurants.

The gravy on the meatloaf (sweet onion) was amazing! The turkey sandwich was delicious as well.

We had a great experience at 24. The Chili Cheese Fries were great. The chili is made with brisket not ground meat. The flavor was great. This was followed with the Cheeseburger. Also very good. I would definitly recommend 24 and plan to come back soon.

The Swiss Chard appetizer was not my favorite but my sister and I enjoy the two sandwiches we got(The BLT and the R.J. Club). I like the fact, and this was my main draw, that you take everyday food, such as meatloaf, and make it your own. This was the first time I had been exposed to aioli and I was refreshingly surprised to see other ingredients and ideas that I have never seen before. My biggest wish was that the tables were maybe a bit further apart. I could still hear and not have to shout my own conversation, but even while everyone around me was talking at moderate levels, it was still difficult to ignore my neighbors conversation, since they were exchanging ideas, practically, in my ear.

Wine, salads, fries all terrific. Chicken of chicken & waffles still overcooked - it's chicken breast and not dark meat - hello!!! It is a fun spot and the server team is awesome. But if they don't fix the chicken and the saltiness of several items - which are EASY fixes - then they lose because it is not an inexpensive place. Still should pick up where Castle Hill left off if they supervise the short order/ fry cooks better!!!

Another fine experience at 24 Diner. Love, love, love the chicken and waffles. Tried a daily special heirloom tomato salad starter, which was unique and really flavorful. Mac and cheese, devilled eggs, meatloaf and mashed potatoes, and burger were all delicious as usual. Peanut butter chocolate shake is amazing. The green beans on the meatloaf plate were exceptional! Our waitress was very knowledgeable, nice, attentive, and good-natured. She made some good recommendations on pairings from the beer and wine lists that we enjoyed. We were taking some foodie guests for a first try at 24 Diner, and they were impressed and will be recommending to friends. Thank you for another fulfilling experience!
