The food was out of this world! Our server was very good, and the hosts were very friendly. The valet service nearby was convenient as well.
Luke warm coffee. Steak overcooked. Other aspects of 4 dinners were fine.
Delicious food and great service. I had the Passionfruit cocktail, tuna taco appetizer and the scallops which were all fantastic! My husband had the filet au poivre and my son had the duck, and they both raved about their dishes.

This was our first time. We had She-Crab soup-delicious, generous amount of crab meat, a tiny bit spicy but not overwhelming. We had a cheeseburger & Drunken Duck burger, fries & green beans. I would recommend the Duck burger (no duck meat)

The menu was not as we remembered(last April) and it seems like it could add some variety.
Very quiet early Wednesday evening, yet the hostess was attending to us as much as the waitress.
The food was fine, again, I would have rather seen less potatoes and maybe a green bean or two.

New menu was very disappointing. Been often, loved previous the ahi tuna entree on old menu.
Piling fries on entree plates to cover up the lack of actual food seemed to be the norm. Crab cake didn’t taste like crab plus way too much filler and mayonnaise. Mussels were tiny with no meat at all with fries piled on top. Tacky to fill plates with fries.
Good service is the only plus.
Food was not fully cooked all the way. Our waiter forgot what we ordered and had to be reminded several times in which delayed us receiving our food. Given the prices the service and food did not reflect. Would never come back nor recommend .
Valentine’s Day: like love, our 219 Bistro experience changed through the night. Visited for nearly 10 years of Valentines, this year was the best. Starting at the bar for cocktails. A great “first flirtation” for the evening. A well kept bar is the heart of a bistro. ... the Bistro has one. A slight stumble for the hostess forgetting about us at the bar when our table was ready.... like a second date can be: the wait was worth it.
We went for the holiday specials: Caramelized onion tart, arugula salad with green olives to start. Paired with an Oregon pinot noir, the goat cheese and onion tart was really great. Only thing it lacked was more goat cheese to balance the onions. The arugula salad: please make this a regular menu items!!!Light peppery greens, zippy olives and smokey salami in a tangy vinaigrette. Heart strings pulled!
Main course was the haddock special. The fish done well. Polenta creamy and satisfying. The lightness of the sprouts- nice.
We specifically asked our server to go slow with the evening and she did. Great job! While enjoying our meal we realized the bistro was much quieter than on previous visits although it was full of chatty diners. The bistro has been renovated and to the betterment of the experience.
Capping the evening with dessert, my love affair coasted into a rut with creme brûlée that was a bit lack luster. Served traditionally with whipped cream but no fresh fruit, the custard was but a thin layer in the dish. A bit more love in the dish would be my request, but it was tasty. The flourless torte was the breakup for our celebration of Love’s day. Lacking moisture it crumbled when cut - texturally gritty. Disappointing.
Again our server, who was a champ juggling all her tables,
made it right with a bit off the bill for the chocolate dessert.
Overall a great evening. Like love, a good restaurant takes work. 219 is working it and getting better. We’ll be back.
Food was good served almost too hot to eat. Not enough varied menu options for me. A bit too upscale, which was a little contradictory to photos and description on website.

They had a special menu for Valentine's Day, plus the regular menu which gave one many options. Kudos to the new chef ! We loved both the Winter and Fig with Goat Cheese salads and were all pleased with our entrees. My halibut had a flavorful crisp buttery crust yet had a creamy interior. The polenta was a perfect pairing. They offer wines and exotic cocktails. Happy we splurged on dessert. The servers were both attentive and personable, making it a nice dining experience. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Being to to Norfolk it took us a few wrong turns to find Bistro 219, but in reality it is a very accessible restaurant in a nice past of the city. It was an off night and only a few in the restaurant and we received excellent service. The food was also very good, particularly the Rockfish which was cooked very well. We recommend a visit to 219 Bistro if you visit Norfolk.
Service was very good throughout the meal. Menu options excellent variety. Did special. Excellent. Ambience not overly enticing but food/service made up for it. Will come back.

Went for restaurant week in Norfolk. Service was great, southwest ceasar salad was best part of the meal. Both main dishes were overcooked. Rockfish was dry and chicken dish was chewy and dry. Dessert of bread pudding was very tasty. Overall wasn't impressed.
Lackluster service but the food carried the evening. Excellent fried green tomatoes as an app and the crab cake entree was really delicious. We asked for a bottle of wine and we were served two glasses. Wait. What?!?
My wife and I ate dinner here in New Year’s Eve. We were pleased with our experience. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. It was our first time eating at this restaurant. We will gladly eat here again!
Visiting Norfolk and found a great dinner spot overall a wonderful experience!
The service was FANTASTIC! We think there must have been something going on last night in the kitchen because several orders weren’t quite right, but once corrected to food was good. The manager gave us a dessert to make up for the issues with dinner and it was amazing. Highly recommend the chocolate amaretto torte. The bread is also delicious. Not a fan of the steak salad, not bad just not my preferred way of preparing it, I prefer thinner slices of steak. Drinks were excellent. While we had some issues with our order, we would definitely return. I cant say enough how excellent the service was as well.

We have not been here in over a year and since that time they "remodeled", which is more like demodeled - removed the nice local pieces and charm and have made it look more like a sports bar - 5 big TVs are the austere decor. Over-sized menus with not a lot on them is bizarre and not very attractive or enticing. I used to reliably go to 219 with groups because it had lots of choices for everyone; not anymore. This time, my wife and I both had seafood and mains themselves were very good but the risotto was average and the fried potatoes I had were inedible - burnt to a crisp/hard as rocks. We communicated this to our server - tell the kitchen they messed up.
Crystal was an excellent waitress.
Unfortunately, we were next to a very loud table. It is difficult to deal with intoxicated ,loud infividuals.

Very crowded..most of the food was good but it was barely warm.. cornbread stuffing was too sweet. Herb dressing may have been better.
We are relocating to Norfolk so after a beautiful Sunday morning visiting the First Presbyterian Church which was wonderful we had a great lunch at the 219 Bistro. My husband enjoyed the “she crab soup” which he said was terrific & the best lobster rolls he has ever had. I ordered the Flounder which was the flakiest & freshest tasting fish. The Mimosas were great & the lunch was very reasonably priced, the waist staff was attentive & prompt.
perfect for groups or those hours between 3 and 5. enjoyed a terrific burger.
