After seating us and ignoring us for 10 minutes we hijacked a waitress and placed our order. Service was cold and unfriendly. We felt like we were I’m a club and we were not members.
Food was okay
The food was mediocre at best. Chips with our hummus appetizer were soggy and endive was wilted. It really seemed like it was pulled pre-made from the refrigerator. Same with the burrata. The heirloom tomatoes were not fresh but cold and mealy - again, pulled from the fridge
My chicken dinner was overcooked. My husband's duck was cooked well.
Disappointing all around.
Our dinner at 1894 Fireside in the Wyndhurst Berkshires Resort was disappointing. As an example, our steak entries were loaded with salt. Fireside also charge extra for bread, which under the circumstances we felt was a bit excessive. Service was erratic, perhaps because our server was mentoring a new trainee. We suspect that the restaurant must have had an off day when we visited, inasmuch as we had several fine meals at a Wyndhurst event catered by them earlier in the week. The restaurant could be worth another try someday on a return visit.
Very nice and quiet for a special occasion on vacation. Menu prices were reasonable for the setting but wine prices were very high. But our meals, appetizers through dessert were very good. And so was the service!!!
This is such a beautiful restaurant with great service. Having never heard of it, I was shocked when I walked in, even asking if this was a private club. The server was great. The salad fabulous, we both had rib steak which was quite good. My dessert, coffee mouse, served so beautifully but I didn’t care for it. Don’t hesitate to book this restaurant. We loved it.
Beautiful room. Wonderful service from Lexi and manager who stopped by our table. Would have liked a nicer table with a view since I had put in our reservation that it was our anniversary.
They did bring a lovely dessert gratis
We chose to order the High Lawn farm cheese and charcuterie plate and then salad and deviled eggs. The main course entrees were not anything we liked Wine was good, they allowed us to taste ahead so we avoided ordering a glass that we might not like.
They need to have a few more entree choices!!
Otherwise a very nice way to celebrate a special day
Considering there were only at most 4 tables filled with diners while we were there, the service was remarkably poor. There were at least 4 members of the wait staff- plus a matre'di. We waited close to 1/2 hour just to place our order and then another 1/2 hour for it to be served (an order that included soup with no soup spoon.) Inflated prices for deflated service.
Wonderful servers and food in a beautiful room. We enjoyed the evening.
Everything was great, the service excellent and food was delicious.
I will definitely return on my next visit to the Berkshires!
The service was outstanding, the food was excellent but the price of wine was ridiculous.
Loved this restaurant. The food and service were excellent, the decor is classic and elegant and the views are stunning. :)
Bar needs more help, but drinks were great. Beautiful restaurant with great views. PLEASE do not charge for bread, no matter how good it is. Very tacky, raise your entrees by $1.00 if you are so concerned about cost. Ordered duck, excellent, made medium perfectly, very tasty. My wife ordered chicken that was so overcooked that if hit the floor it would have bounced back onto the table. Not edible, we sent it back. Staff was excellent and very attentive. We will give it another try, but please don’t charge for the bread!
1. Superb service. Friendly and attentive staff.
2. Food - superb.
3. Great room and ambiance.
4. Nice views out windows.
5. Great bar and cocktails.
6. Great value on the wines.
Would return in a heartbeat.
Daniel was instrumental in helping us select ingredients for our cocktail. Jake was superb in making them for us. Morgan was delightful and attentive. The cheese board was excellent as was our entree. Can’t wait to return.
Quaint restaurant with very attentive service and delicious food
Very pricey for what you get. Other than salad the portions were small. The menu did not describe food properly.
Celebrated our fifth wedding anniversary here and couldn't have asked for a better meal. Excellent service and a beautiful venue.
Wonderful food. Maybe the best in the area! Gave ambience a "good" rating only because right now in order to stay safe with covid they room has few tables and feels a bit sparse. I am sure this will change, and it did not stop me from coming back for a second time in a month!
Excellent food - and great service!
The overall experience was favorable. It was a anniversary dinner and they gave us champagne to start and a dessert which was most appreciated.
The food was very good and presented nicely. Our only negative comment is that the decor could be brightened up a bit by flowers and perhaps larger works of art.
In any event we will return.
What a pleasant dining experience! The hummus appetizer was both beautiful and delicious as was the short rib over risotto entre! Our waiter David was attentive and knowledgeable! A wonderful evening!
The food was amazing. The place was beautiful
This was an elegant place to dine before it was taken over by Miraval/Hyatt. Now the ambience is that of a school dining hall. Limited menu. I even wore a blazer, remembering what it was. Sweat shirt would be more appropriate now.
The food and service were very good. The protocols for Covid19 were very effectively implemented.
Excellent appetizers. And the specialty drinks menu is fantastic. Loved the Jasmine Gin.
Super friendly staff and waiter. Made the first date one to remember!
The table was too big. There was confusion over the Steelhead Trout which was listed on the menu as Steelhead “Fish”. Server needs to warn customers that the fish is like salmon, rather than dealing with diners’ surprise after it has been served.
The entire operation has not yet found its footing, between Miraval and Wyndhurst.
We noted a birthday celebration but no acknowledgement from the restaurant, no candles during desert time. The $18 Foie gras devil’s egg was a joke; no Foie gras at all; extremely disappointed. Our server was extremely nice. I did not feel I get the dining experience expected for $300. Do not recommend.
Excellent experience! Rohan duck, cheese board, and crispy sushi were all winners. Cocktails are expensive but dinner was reasonably priced.
The description of fireside dining was not really accurate. Despite having a reservation weeks ahead we were seated in what it calls the "tearoom", it was cold and sterile and although we were a party of three we were seated at a round table that could easily accommodate 6-8. The Manager said it was due to COVID restrictions but people were much closer in bar area and in lounge area, actually near a fireplace. The Bartender was friendly and professional and was following all COVID protocols. Our waitress was nice but a little shy. As far as food, it was just ok. The menu listed a Steelhead Fish that we assumed was trout but when we asked were told it was salmon. One of our group ordered it and when it was brought to the table the server asked, "who ordered the trout" ? Perhaps staffing is an issue due to COVID but the staff seem to be doing their best to make customers happy. The management, not so much.
Waitstaff and bartender were amazing. So welcoming and warm.
Excellent service (thank you Austin and David), great bartender and delicious food!
Room lacked atmosphere. Food was very good but expensive cocktails and service was a
Always a wonderful meal with interesting and inventive drinks!
Amazing place. So beautiful, delicious food.
It was my birthday and everyone made me feel like a Queen. From a special cocktail (that I got to name) to a special dessert, everything was perfect. Great energy and ambiance. Can’t wait to go back.
We were optimistic about trying this new place. We loved Cranwell, and its fireplace. Unfortunately someone rushed us to our table claiming time constraints and didn’t allow us to sit and have a cocktail by the fireplace. As it turned out as we left there was no one waiting for our table and we sat in a room completely alone with four empty tables around us. I can’t believe we were rushed for no reason.
Two guests had hamburgers and both came out fully cooked rather than medium or medium rare. Both were returned and nearly 30 minutes later two more arrive. Much smaller than before. And still overcooked. Why bother asking how you would like it cooked if you can’t deliver a medium burger? Our server was very well intentioned and it wasn’t her fault. We were surprised a manager didn’t address us personally.
Overall a disappointing experience. Restaurant needs to work on communication and hospitality. Which is too bad because there are nice things about this restaurant. Pleasant decor, decent farm fresh menu.
Great first-time experience at the 1894 Fireside Bistro and Bar! Our server was attentive and knowledgeable about all items on the menu, including local products. We especially enjoyed the sushi appetizer, grouper with artichokes and steelhead with fava beans dishes, and the decadent new chocolate tart for dessert. Room temperature issues and oversized wood tables were the biggest detractors. But all in all an excellent experience!
Kudos to David, Cody, and the incredible chef! It was a wonderful experience from the service to the ambiance, menu offerings, and the quality of food and cocktails. I love that you source locally too. Thank you.
