overall the place was ok. the views fantastic and the room very nice, decor ok but missing things like a chandelier and centerpiece flowers. Food was very mixed. Appys and deserts quite good and nicely portioned. Mains were another story. My wife's fish was barely a 3oz portion and my "grassfed" burger was medium well instead of medium rare.
Food was amazing. I had the ribeye filet and my husband had the duck—both were excellent!
Way overpriced for quality & quantity. Kale salad & steel head trout were good. Crispy sushi was awful. Wine we selected was grossly overpriced & not even good wine. Portions are small which is fine but shouldn't charge typical prices for high-end restaurant. Too noisy for our special occasion.
Perfect evening in a gorgeous ambiance. The food was superb.
Situated in an old mansion with great ambiance. Tasty and creative food. Reasonable price. Very busy in early Oct.
Food and service were outstanding, as was the setting. The room is noisy when full, but I would recommend this highly.
The meal was bad, not sure the meat was ribeye. The potato was an unidentified clump.
Let me begin by saying that the food was truly outstanding. My dish, the duck breast, was the best I've ever had. My partner's strip steak was equally good. The appetizers and dessert were also delicious. The service was attentive and the tables were spaced a nice distance apart so you never felt you were too close to other diners. Our server went above and beyond by answering our questions about items on the menu and when she wasn't sure, got the information from colleagues or her own research. Daniel, the receptionist who sat us, was personable, engaged us in conversation and, when we were leaving, offered us a golf cart ride back to our room which was a bit of a walk in the dark. Overall, it was a truly enjoyable evening and excellent value. We already want to return.
Very difficult to find. Slow service. Pretty room. Food ok.
We started with the sushi appetizer and we had the duck and the steel head for entrees. All was delicious! Also felt very spoiled after the complimentary birthday dessert. We enjoyed talking with the director of food and beverage, sorry we forgot your name! He gave us great recommendations for the rest of our trip.
Great experience and such a beautiful restaurant!
Thank you to the friendly staff!
Excellent service and food. Our server knew the menu and gave an accurate description of each entree.
The “manager“ Daniel was also very friendly.
Expected better service and knowledgeable staff for a fine dining experience. Food was excellent however. Maybe caught them on a bad day.
What a great place! Gorgeous, quiet, great service and delicious good food. Prices are very fair for dinner at this level. A find.
Everyone enjoyed their food tremendously. Our friends had duck and said it was the best duck they have ever eaten! The staff were attentive and welcoming. The food was brought out leisurely, which was just how we wished to be served.
Service was Superb. Food Delicious!! We ordered the steak and halibut. Will definitely be returning.
Food was amazing. Service was not 5 star. Ambiance is also beautiful.
If the weather permits, you must sit on the porch for a drink before dinner. Otherwise, really delicious food and drinks, and amazingly friendly service. The price was also much more reasonable than expected. We had a wonderful meal!
We had to buy our bread and the homemade butter smelled spoiled. My glass of red wine cost $22 and a bottle of that wine online was around $18! Not a good value for the quality. Staff was nice and friendly but menu was overpriced and limited.
Great food and drink!! Great room. Good service
Great food. Beautiful ambiance.
Beautiful place. Great food. Great service.
We were a group of 9 diners on the outdoor patio. Food, service and view all wonderful.
Beautiful setting, very special views. Salads were excellent, Main courses while prices right, fell short of expectations. Steak was fatty, and fish could have been fresher. Notwithstanding, the meal was enjoyable overall. A major issue is the wine list choices. Any glass of wine will set you back almost twice what it would cost anywhere else in the Berkshires. the least expensive bottle was prices in the 75 dollar range. Bottom line? Don't drink here unless you have deep pockets.
We had a such a wonderful meal here for our 8th anniversary which felt exceptionally special. Perfect location for special meals. We had an 8pm reservation and the building took our breath away upon arrival. It looked like a castle. The inside decor was just as splendid. Everything we ate was delicious. Compliments to the chef and his team on the plating of the food. It was very high-end/gourmet. Each presentation was a visual delight. We loved the sushi on crispy rice! I would cone back and eat that everyday if I could! The cucumber gazpacho was also delicious and perfect for a hot summer night.we also loved the vegan mushroom bolognese- the first I’ve tried something like this as we are not vegan and it did not disappoint. The Japanese cheesecake was also delightful. The staff was super pleasant and friendly and the bartender took us on an unexpected mini tour of the building and gave us some of the history which we the perfect way to end our visit. Highly recommend!
I’m not sure where to begin with this review. There is so much potential with the venue, but they can’t seem to get anything right. The food is adequate, but the experience will likely leave you wishing you’d made another choice.
The dinner was lovely and the setting was beautiful. Kudos to the chef!
Host snd server were excellent snd the food delicious! And
the dining room is beautiful, perfectly sized snd set into an historic building.
Extraordinary creative appetizers: We had crispy sushi, a cucumber gazpacho (smooth, green, not spicy, slight crunch); and a green hummus dish. The steak and duck dishes were superb. The chocolate tort and olive oil polenta w/ strawberries dessert were special. The service was right there, very friendly and fully accommodating. All and all a high end yet down to earth excellent value restaurant. It is now at the top of our list for restaurants in this area.
Excellent restaurant and bar- service, drinks, good were all outstanding. Beautiful view as well.
The staff were very courteous and attentive. The food was fantastic. It was our first time there and we will definitely be back.
We ordered tapas-style, and everything was delicious.
Such a wonderful surprise !!!
Everything was excellent!
Delicious food, beautiful setting, intimate dining room. Very small menus and no specials.
We weren't sure what to expect but we were most pleasantly surprised. The four of us split the charcuterie and cheese boards and then ordered an appetizer for our main entree, and it was a great idea! All of the cheeses and meats all went together well, and there was plenty to share amongst the four of us. We had a leisurely meal and still had time to get to Tanglewood in good time. We will certainly be back next time we are in the area.
We have dined at the Bistro twice in the last few weeks. I chose it because it was convenient to Tanglewood and close to the MassPike. Many of the other restaurants in the Lenox area were booked solid. The restaurant is situated in a historic building which was once a summer "cottage" and then became a boys' prep school until the 70s (Cranwell.) The site is now a hotel/golf course. The dining room is small, but has spectacular views of the Berkshire hills. The menu has many delicious options to choose from, including vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free items. I would particularly recommend their reasonably-priced cheese plate, the gazpacho, the deviled eggs and the warm sourdough bread as starters. The salads are extremely fresh and tasty. I had the pappardelle with mushroom bolognese as an entree on both occasions. My dining companions had duck and a burger. Everyone was happy. The drink menu is limited, but quite satisfactory. The service was excellent. I like all of the staff, all of whom have chosen word-names in addition to their real name. My favorite was Morgan, who was extremely attentive on both occasions and who never missed anything. (She even heard a knife drop from our table while she was in the kitchen and rushed out to replace it.) There was a noisy party of six nearby which made the room somewhat noisy. Overall this is a very nice dining choice and I will surely return.
Beautiful room in the old Cranwell estate. Outdoor dining also available overlooking the beautiful grounds. Food was very good. The menu is fairly limited. We enjoyed it very much.
We enjoyed a wonderful dinner in a beautiful restaurant, and we couldn’t have been happier. The ambiance is elegant. Our window table afforded us a view of the mountains. Staff was attentive and helpful. And the food was terrific. We enjoyed a beautiful evening in the Berkshires.
After seating us and ignoring us for 10 minutes we hijacked a waitress and placed our order. Service was cold and unfriendly. We felt like we were I’m a club and we were not members.
Food was okay
