1875: The Steakhouse
Tender, sweet, cold-water lobster and sherry flavor this delicate bisque
Seared diver scallops drizzled with rich key lime beurre blanc
Blended with garlic and bchamel sauce. Finished with a dash of fresh nutmeg
We sat in the derby room and Kathy was our server. Yes, it’s a bit pricey if you are not paying on a corporate account, but so well worth it. Service was outstanding and food was superb. We celebrated and anniversary and a birthday. So enjoyable.
Waited an hour and 45 min for our dinner. Wanted dessert but waiter was taking so long we passed. Already been in restaurant for 2 hr 15 min. That was enough
The service was terrible, everyone seemed like they hated their job. The waiter barely said a word. For $150 for two people, it should be way better.
Hands down the best ribeye we have ever had. First time experiencing steak that “melts in your mouth”. Also highly recommend the cheesecake!
Are waitress was very good!! Yes the food was very good too.
Steak and specialty corn was wonderful- pecan pie was out of this world! Could of had more service but overall good!
Very nice mid century environment and good service. I’ve had better food for the same price or less in just as good or a better facility so I probably won’t be back.
I would definitely eat there again. Very impressed!
What a nice restaurant! It was perfect for a high-end dinner to celebrate my birthday. We both had steaks (filet) which were delicious. The wedge salad was very good. We ordered 3 sides: garlic mashed potatoes, corn ragout, and brussel sprouts. The potatoes and corn were delicious. We did not care for how the brussel sprouts were prepared, so I would not order thise again. Overall the dinner was delicious, the atmosphere very nice (we were in the "wine room") and the restaurant managed COVID-19 precautions well.
Totally not worth the money. It was a good steakhouse. Not a great one. Way over priced.
My wife had the crab cake as her entree and said it was as good as the cakes on the East Coast. I had the Duroc Chop with bourbon sauce and I'd say it was the best cut of meat I've ever eaten, not just pork. It cut like butter. Service was good, not overwhelming.
First experience. The waiter was wonderful and the food was excellent. Would definitely recommend.
The entire meal from start to finish was excellent. Michael was great. Loved dinner!
My husband and I visited the restaurant for our anniversary and it was fabulous! The atmosphere was relaxed and upscale. The staff was entertaining and wonderful to be with for the occasion. My husband was extremely impressed that the porterhouse steak was cooked so perfectly well. I will be comparing the crab cake appetizer to others for a long time. Everything was perfect!
Excellent service and food! Very tender steak that was cooked to perfection. Will definitely go back.
Our waitress was awesome. The food was delicious and we met the chef!!! Everything was perfect.
Excellent food. Very nice atmosphere; even with COVID-19 restrictions/procedures.
We’ve been several times and while we have never been totally wow-Ed by the service, this time hit a new low. For a $250 bill for four, attentive service is an expectation, and this fell far short. We will not be back.
My wife and I went to this restaurant for our anniversary. We could not have been more pleased. The food was fabulous and the service was excellent. We had not been to French Lick in approximately 15 years. The upgrades to the facilities are incredible. Now more than ever you should take a vacation getaway to French Lick or nearby West Baden. You will be astounded by the elegance and grandeur of these first class hotels in Southern Indiana.
Service was excellent our thanks to Jamal. Good was excellent but received a ribeye not the strip which was ordered. Server took the ribeye back but the chef insisted it was a strip. Not to argue the point as the rI eye was delicious.
We enjoyed our visit very much. The food is excellent and portions are great. Our server was very friendly and helpful. We will be back.
Our waitress was not attentive. The Caesar salad is served as 2 whole bibs of romaine lettuce sprinkled with Parmesan cheese. I spent 10 minutes chopping up the salad to find the lettuce was particularly bitter. After 3 bites I was finished. The bus boy collected my plate commenting that ‘those are big salads’. The steak I ordered medium well was served medium rare. After eating about 3 bites from the edges I set my plate to the side. The waitress never checked in with us to offer to send it back to be cooked further. When she did come back to the table and asked if we were enjoying everything, I answered not particularly and she offered me a box for my uneaten steak.
While it is common to not have a steak cooked to the desired level of doneness, I was very disappointed with the lack of concern from the staff.
Great food and service
Very elegant restaurant with superb food. Had the 7 ounce filet which practically melted in your mouth. Loved the fact that it was quiet and not blaring music.
We had a very nice evening. Food was very good. Service was great. Server Shelly was on it. Have been to great steakhouses all over the country, and the overall value is a bit lacking. Food is a bit expensive for what it is. Wouldn’t even mind the prices if the ambience was a bit more. Maybe a candle on the table or some music. We will go back.
Really excellent meal. Appropriate social distancing and other safety measures taken by staff. Friendly.
There isn't a better restaurant within a hundred miles of French Lick. The anti-virus accommodations are in effect, unfortunately. The restaurant only recently re-opened, but the staff soldiered on and the evening was a pleasure.
I was extremely disappointed with the quality of food for the price of a 5 star steakhouse. I will not be eating here again, and I would like to advise people to not spend your money here! Go to a Ruth's Chris, and get good steak for the same price, or go to the restaurant downstairs and save money.
The server was very pleasant and helpful and the meal was cooked to perfection. Thanks for a great dining experience.
Our wedge salad was delicious- great to split! The Filets were perfectly cooked and The mash potatoes delightful. Michael was a nice, reserved server.
Waiter was pressed to provide excellent service due to restaurant being busy and maybe short staff due to COVID??? Never refilled water glasses or asked if we needed another beverage. Forgot to bring our salads. Food was vey good.
Somewhat disappointed in selection and prices. I don’t mind paying for a really good meal. This was lackluster at best. Steak was thin and on the dry side. No sour cream available for baked potatoes. No offers for drink refills.
Waitress didn’t smile once! Hostess didn’t either! Why is everyone so negative at this resort restaurant? You can always get a new job where you don’t have to talk to anyone! Very over-priced food in an old restaurant lacking ambience and friendly staff. Don’t waste your money.
I NEVER leave reviews, but my experience was not great. The server asked us if we were ready to order our food before we even placed a drink order (I even had to ask for a drink menu)! My salad was nothing special, romaine lettuce and dressing. The steak was not seasoned well at all. No flavor. The cocktails were good, but it seemed to take forever to get them. Overall, the quality of the food/service did not match the price.
Great food and a cool place; very expensive. I’ve been to great steakhouses all over the US and this place’s prices stand out. Food is wonderful.
Great service. Food was top notch. Limited menu due to Covid 19 so I missed my dessert but no problem. Definitely would recommend.
A little disappointed, our filets were a little dry. We had to ask for more water several times. Our table was wobbly and had to put a napkin under it. Not really worth $200 for 2 ( with tip). The garlic mashed potatoes & Brussel sprouts were delicious though!
It was awesome loved it all !! Would definitely recommend it to everyone .Cant wait time go back
Waiter was untrained. We asked twice for our first beverage and was never asked if we wanted more. No refills. Order was wrong.
Service was excellent as usual and very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Menu selection is very good and the quality of the steaks are the best I’ve ever had.
