1718 Steakhouse-Stone Oak
Too much money for what you get. The food was bland.
Nice hidden restaurant in Stone Oak. Enjoyed meal and service. A little pricey but I will visit again.
We came here for 20th anniversary dinner. Why do find a nice restaurant with good outside seating during these times. Very nice quiet dinner!
Everything we had was fantastic! I had the salad and my husband had a steak. We sat on the patio and it was a great experience. Our ONLY complaint was the prices. Just seemed too high for what we got. Other than that - all was awesome. ❤️
Excellent on all aspects! Food and service were outstanding . Can’t wait to go back and try other items on the menu!
I had heard a lot of about this place and finally decided to give it a try! It was a very nice and quiet atmosphere with fantastic service! The appetizers we’re delicious and the steaks were good. Not my favorite steak I’ve had in San Antonio but still good nonetheless. What stood out was really the apps, drinks and service. Would be great for a date night!
Amazing steak, I would say the best in town. Spacious and not crowded so perfect for covid 19 times
The food was excellent - the steaks were done just right and the side dishes were very tasty. The lobster bisque was outstanding! We finished with a delicious flambé cheesecake with liquer 43, making for a nice end to the meal. Definitely recommend this place.
Glad it was restaurant week—the steaks were delicious, but regular prices are a bit high! My steak was cooked perfectly & the cocktails were great—not watered down!
We had high hopes for this place but were disappointed. Food quality wasn’t there. It felt like they just grabbed a steak from HEB and cooked it. It was cooked perfectly but it was just chewy and tough. Not sure if they cut corners for COVID but I unfortunately I won’t be back. Service was just OK. They only had 2 servers and he seemed pretty new
The service was slow and our steaks were just warm with no seasoning. The baked potato was completely cold. The only thing that was great were the salads and the macaroni and cheese. I’m not one to make a fuss or send food back I just won’t return. Even the dessert was limited they no longer had the chocolate lava cake and had to opt for the cheesecake. For the price we paid only the drinks, salads and macaroni n cheese were up to par, everything else was not including the service. I understand some places have their bad days but the price was so not worth the experience.
Went for a quick girls night out, drinks and appetizer were great. Everyone was very nice and attentive. They made our experience a good one.
Our greeting was friendly. Wait staff slow to approach our table. We had to ask for bread and butter after about 20 minutes. The food took almost 45 minutes to arrive. My husband's steak was cooked to perfection and delicious he told me. My pork was undercooked close to the bone so I had to take the rest home and reheat. Brussel sprouts were very good. The waiter was poorly trained and was intent on standing 6 feet from us and with the mask was difficult to understand. Not sure we will visit this restaurant again.
Service didnt seem to know we had reservations, and we had to inform them of their Restaurant Week specials. We had to ask for napkins & silverware, for the wine list and dessert list to be returned, etc. Wine list is poor for a prime steakhouse. Steaks are great cuts, but have zero seasonings and rely solely on the grille for flavor. Sides and desserts were good, but nothing special. The bathroom was like a gas station's. For the price, we can easily do better.
Our experience was exceptional. We were greeted with a very clean environment where it was sanitized when we walked in. The calamari was amazing and the Pittsburgh steak was amazing. Of course we couldn’t miss desert and enjoyed amazing cheesecake and lava cake. You do not want to miss this gem. Enjoy with the family!
Our experience was very disappointing. We had a reservation and stated we were celebrating our anniversary. The host/waiter did not mention it. We were seated but not given a napkin or silverware. We ordered drinks and they were served in a few minutes. Then we ordered our food and waited a very long time to be served. Still no napkin or silverware. We ordered a salad and thought it would come before the meal but it came along with the meal. They finally brought napkins and silverware when we asked. The food was ok..... nothing to rave about. And the salad was really disappointing- seemed to be right out of a bag. Then we ordered chocolate mousse for dessert. We were served chocolate cream pie (we recognized it from a box pie we have bought at HEB!) When we finished, we waited and were ignored. We had to ask for the check. There were 6 people in the entire restaurant so it should have been easy to see that we were finished.
The entire experience was so disappointing and not the way we hoped to celebrate 32 years of marriage. We have enjoyed many other fine dining experiences over the years and we know what to expect. Other restaurants greet us by name and acknowledge our anniversary. Food is served in courses and we are attended to without asking.
We will not be returning to 1718 Steakhouse.
Steak was ok. Wife’s salmon was overcooked and her risotto wasn’t right. Onion rings batter more fast food than fine dining. Can’t recommend.
A step above the Golden Coral.
The food was wonderful and the service was attentive. We went for my wife’s birthday and thoroughly enjoyed our dinner.
More of a "steak room" than a steakhouse. Interior is one big square room, which includes a small bar. Exterior dining space is on a west-facing patio with a nice view of Stone Oak area. It was 94 degrees the evening we ate at 1718; we sat inside.
Steaks weren't as pricey as at most steak places, but they were probably choice instead of prime (which ain't bad all!).
Service was very good. The place was especially subdued due to fewer number of patrons than usual for a Friday night because of Covid-19.
A good restaurant, but not outstanding.
very good food and service was great. definitely will go back
Wonderful experience. Food was exquisite. Perfect steaks, and highly recommend the flambéed cheesecake dessert!
Great food. Good atmosphere. Its a hidden gem for the moment until more people realize this new location.
The wine selection was reasonably priced, the view of the sunset was also a delight accompanied by the great food.
Just didn’t understand how this steak was that expensive. I’ve had amazing steaks at the same price point, quality cut and more. I just didn’t understand what was being attempted here. Definitely out of their league on this one. Saddest ribeye to date. I don’t normally write negative or descriptive reviews, but I couldn’t leave this one alone.
It was wonderful! Fancier ambiance than we were expecting when we showed up with our 2 teenagers all i jeans but they still made us feel welcome and the food and service were exceptional!
Definitely adding to our places to visit often!
Very nice place. Food was good. Would have been excellent if it was hot or was warm. Waiter was the bomb EXCELLENT.
The food was fine. However, the service left alot to be desired. The waiter remarked, "This is the busiest we've ever been. I will do my best to keep up but it's Valentine's night and that's not good." That set the tone. He was absent enough from our table another waiter stopped by and asked if anyone was helping us. Also, my wife noticed at the other tables the women received roses when they left. She didn't get one. I think this was all on our waiter but who knows. Here is my review, "Go to the restaurant but manage your expectations. I won't spend my money there again."
Very good food! Very friendly staff ! Will definitely go back for a special occasion or just when we want a real good steak!
We were the only people in the restaurant initially. Took about 5 minutes to get seated. Service was very good; the waiter was friendly and attentive. The steaks we ordered came out only warm, not hot. Neither my wife and I like to send food back so we ate them. They were not cold, and were edible, but could have been much hotter. Flavor of the steak was very good. Overall a decent experience, but for the price, could have been far better.
This is a great new restaurant in stone oak. Service & food was wonderful. Beautiful views of the sunset. Would definitely go back!
We had a great time and the food was DELICIOUS
The service and ambiance was excellent. The appetizers were very good. I highly recommend the caprese bombs. The steak (ribs eye) was a bit under cooked I asked for a medium rare and it was barely seared. More like rare. I did not say anything as I don’t like sending food back. For the price, I would expect a better cut of meat too. I’ve had better at some other comparable steakhouses. They are just getting started so maybe the quality will improve with time. But for now, I would wait until they figure out what a “prime” steak house should be.
Great steaks! Great atmosphere!
No worth the price
We visited 1718 on a Friday evening. During our dinner a rain squall and lightning storm knocked out the restaurant’s power. That’s not the restaurant’s fault, of course, but their response to it was confused and substandard.
The food was good, service was very good, and the location very accessible. The restaurant’s ambience would seem to be cozy and quiet—the dining room is nicely decorated and very intimate—but we were seated beside a table of 10 very loud and boisterous men who made casual conversation impossible. The small space amplified the nuisance.
The prices were higher than the quality of the food and drink—and higher than OpenTable reflects (OpenTable says $$ but the menu is definitely $$$ bordering on $$$$). Steaks are $40 and up, not counting separately priced sides. We paid $10 for a tall Stella Artois. The lowest priced entrees were blackened salmon and quail at $29 each.
Back to the power outage ... supplemental lighting was slow and mostly directed to two large tables of guests. At one point, a propane-powered heater from the patio was wheeled into the dining room to provide light for one of the big tables—apparently carbon monoxide and big flames weren’t immediately considered, but the thing was never lit and was wheeled back out.
Finally, we asked that a big part of our unfinished meal be boxed up because we simply couldn’t see the food in our plate. Our bill was literally the waiter’s hand-printed list of our food (and a blank line for the tip)—again, maybe not their fault that their cash system was knocked out but definitely not an elegant response.
At no point did anyone express regret for the bad experience. They certainly didn’t extend any courtesies like free drinks, coffee, or dessert to soften the uncomfortable experience.
So ... Mother Nature threw a curve but 1718 knocked it foul. A Plan B during an uncontrollable situation would be a good idea.
Great Food! Ambience great! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for excellent dining .
Good service and great food. Of course expensive as all good steakhouses are now. Just be prepared for the high prices.
Our experience was disappointing at best. My wife and I booked this restaurant for our 24 year wedding anniversary. I noted it on the open table reservation and not once was it recognized, even when our server saw us reading our cards to one another. Our server was nice but didn’t appear to have any experience whatsoever as it relates to an elevated dining experience. We’ll start with the drinks. My wife and I like vodka martini’s so we ordered one dirty and one very slightly dirty. Mine came half full which I drank but when I reordered, I asked them to fill it to an appropriate level. When they brought my drink it was clear it was in a smaller glass giving the appearance of a fuller drink. We received our caesar salad’s and they seemed dry. I ordered a side of dressing and our server forgot. After being asked again, 25 minutes later the dressing came and it was like paste (very strange). My wife asked if they had any flavored vodka. The server didn’t know but said he would ask. He forgot and needed to be asked again to check. We ordered lobster bisque and it tasted fishy so she sent it back. I had the blackened salmon which was great but the menu said it came with risotto but the texture was more like rice. Overall the dish was pretty good. Without my wife even ordering an entree, we still spend $140, which seemed excessive. Given the uncomfortable experience, we judged asked for the check rather than stay any longer. It was clear our server lacked training and polish for a high end restaurant. While we noted our anniversary on the reservation, I would have expected some dialogue or awareness from the server of even asking the question “ are we celebrating anything this evening?” Very disappointing and we won’t be back.
Our waiter was very friendly but the steaks were not very flavorful. Overall, we thought most of the food was a little bland. Given the total price, we probably won’t go there again.
