14 North Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Took the wife for birthday dinner. Had Saffron Rice with seafood,?no saffron flavor , but extreeemely salty . Dessert peach crisp with sorbet , presentation was: a blob of peach and a sorbet on the dide, it was very bitter-sour, bad accompaniment to the peachy blob supposedly rum flavored . All in all, disappointment, chef needs to go back to culinary 101 school. Not worth a detour!
It was a slow night in the restaurant, so the noise level was pretty low. Previous times in the restaurant is has been quite loud. They keep it pretty dark in there, but I guess that adds the pub feel to the restaurant. Very diverse and creative menu. I had the salmon and I had it the previous time I was in the restaurant. The first time I had it, the salmon was cooked perfectly medium rare and the veggies and sauce tasted very fresh. But the 2nd time I had the salmon it was overlooked for my taste and tasted like it had been frying in butter for quite some time. My husband had the jerk chicken and he was not a big fan.
We ate at 14 twice - both nights we were in Bozeman and enjoyed it both times. The second night we chose to sit in the bar. Our server was polite, attentive without being annoying and friendly. I had the cheese platter and it was excellent. My husband had the linguine (sorry, can't remember the exact name of the dish) and my sister had the caesar salad. All delicious. Wine selection is great. The manager came by to thank us for coming in a second time which was a nice touch. Next time I'm in Bozeman I'll definitely eat here again.
We had a great dining experience at 14 North for our anniversary. The food was great and the atmosphere was awesome. We had late reservations and the place was very busy so service was a little slow which is to be expected but the bartender and the server had good personalities and were very helpful. We will definitely be back!!
My husband and I came for my birthday with our two year old son. The evening started out great and our server seemed extremely attentive and great. However, things went downhill quickly. He took our appetizer order along with our sons flatbread and we waited, and waited and waited. He got out entree order and our entrees came out before our sons or app! I hate when that happens. Why order an app if it comes at the same time. To which the girl who brought our food explained that someone else took our toast so they made a new one. Our sons plate was "extremely hot" meaning sat in the window while they waited to remake the duck toast app. Really? I would have been happy if they just brought his food and told us that. No apology, and we didn't see our server until we were mostly done with our meal. Waters were completely empty and never filled and my husband was going to order a bottle of wine with his meal, however, we never saw the server again until we were almost finished. Not a great way to spend my birthday. We are from Missoula and were so excited to get away and have a good night and great meal. Real bummer that it was not anyway near what we expected. Will never be back. Food was good, but service is more important to us as we work in this industry and have for years. It was like "oh you have a kid? Bad tippers. Won't be paying attention to you". Not cool.
Wonderful food. Great service! We went there for our anniversary. We were greeted by the hostess with a "Happy Anniversary". We got a very nice table and were greeted by our waiter with a "Happy Anniversary". We had small plates and were not made to feel like we were wasting anyone's time. We received a complementary dessert to celebrate our special occasion. We most definately will be returning!
As always the food was excellent (with the caveat that I had to send my Bison steak back as it was overcooked the first time). However, the service this time was slow and not to attentive at all (maybe its getting harder to get good help???). Also, the only compensation for having to send my steak back to be re-cooked and wait while others in my Birthday party were eating was the offer of a drink (we already had a bottle of wine on the table).
Normally we love this place for good food and service just not on Sep. 12th.....
What an odd/bad experience! Even though the restaurant was relatively empty, my guests who had arrived before me, were seated right next to the servers station rather than a more private and scenic part of the restaurant. Our waiter was alternately MIA and rude and condescending, arguing with one of us about giving her a taste of wine before she ordered a glass. Twice, our waters went dry before he showed up to refill them. The salads and the gnocchi were good, but the scallops appetizer was underwhelming, especially for the price. Most strange of all was that for a restaurant that charges the prices that it does, we were given paper napkins. How can a supposedly fine dining establishment not use linen napkins? I was embarrassed that I had brought my guests there and will never return.
Pleasantly surprised. Haven't been since around when they first opened a few years ago when in my opinion, it was pretty "meh". Had the lamb gnocchi that was unbelievable! Caesar salad was disappointing, but everyone in our party was raving about the rest of their meals. They also have a kids menu, which was a pleasant surprise. We'll definitely be back!
Travelers, restaurant eating is my vice. Ate at 14 North two days before. Only once in my travels have we repeated a visit to the same place. But I had the bacon-wrapped meat loaf, and my wife stole a quarter of it. We liked it so much that we returned for a second helping. This is one of the best meals of my travels, anywhere.
Also, don't miss the beer bread. Very nice salad as well.
Service was excellent too. Also one of the few places in Bozeman with parking.
Enjoyed the food. Our server Kelly was great. The Black Walnut Manhattan was phenomenal. My only complaint- we sat in the dining area and there was no background music. I have a huge pet peeve regarding restaurants that don't play quiet music. All you can hear is eating/ slurping sounds and clinks of silverware. Yet this is better then the the restaurant trend of playing music too loud.
It was amazing! I noted on the reservation that the occasion was my 5 year anniversary. Everyone politely congratulated us and remembered all the way through dinner. Our dessert was comped and our waiter was amazing. The hostess even thanked us and said congrats as we left. LOVE LOVE LOVE
We took our adult children to dinner here the other night. Food was delicious with beautiful presentation. Service was exceptional. I gave this a 2 star for value. We all had the halibut daily special which is 34.00. We then had to add a side salad which cost 10.00. I believe that when you pay that much for an entree, it should come with a nice salad. We spent 265.00 on four meals. (45.00 was tip) Everyone had water to drink. We did share two desserts. Too spendy for say, a family wanting a nice dinner. This restaurant was not busy for a Friday night. This could be the reason.
We gave eaten at 14 North quite a few times and have always been pleased with the food and service. I especially love their GF gnocci with lamb and their hailbut specials. Their wines are reasonably priced. We started with Happy Hour and had a nice cheese plate and a French wine blend which was quite good for the price.
While visiting Bozeman, decided to try this local "gastro-pub"..The menu is somewhat eclectic, in a very good way. The meatloaf (made with beef, elk, bison, and venison) was unusual and fabulous!! Service was very pleasant--casual, efficient, and very friendly. Next time I come back to Bozeman, I'll definitely stop in again.
