   When making reservations for a second time a in a short period, one is a little anxious the first time was a lucky strike. How comforting and soothing to be welcomed in th e same efficient manner, requesting an additional couvert Ina full house. Well done, food was again tasteful, though the special of the day, oriental duck salad lost some of the refined tastes due to the overbearing presence of chills, which the dish did not require. The lamb of my colleague was as Ros e and tender as it should be.

   this was my 2nd visit to this restaurant dining with a friend and we liked our food from the selection of the set menu I booked for us, plus the customer service was very good also. Thank you.

   I booked the Brasserie for a friend's birthday last Thursday. Have been once before and really enjoyed it but this time, I was left feeling a bit disappointed. I couldnt put my finger on why I felt let down as last time when I went with my husband and daughter we really enjoyed the meal and the whole occasion. The service was still very good (although they seem to have lots of young French men whose English isnt great but they are willing) and the food is executed well. We had the set £19.50 meal deal and while the starter and dessert were superb I felt the main let it down. We both had the prawn and chilli fettucine and to be honest it didnt taste great and was not that hot either with a measly 5 prawns. The choice of mains for the set menu isnt great and probably need to pay out the £9 supplement but this is quite a hefty whack on top of what we already paid. Personally, I think they should up the cost to £25 and get more interesting choices on the menu. I still love the actual venue - love the art works and the dome. It is noisy though so not a place to go for a quiet meal and ended up shouting to my friend a lot of the time which is tedious.

   Food and service were good. but the extractor fans were not good enough, and despite this being a huge airy building with high ceilings, there was a haze of smoke throughout the restaurant. Staff had opened windows but still it was very smokey. What was most disconcerting is that I was there for lunch and when I returned to work, my clothes and hair reeked of cooked meat for the entire afternoon. This is not good for a business lunch venue.

   The venue was nice and the waiters were on the right side of attentive. However the food was lack lustre. We went for the 3 course menu and the choices are limited unless you opt for the £9 supplement for the mains. By the time you add the service and supplement charges you might as well look elsewhere for value. Overall I would recommend the place for convenience and venue but not for the food.

   I had booked this for a lunch which we had to cancel but then went in for dinner the same day. Venue is pretty cool, very well lit and overall quite nice. Coats were taken and we were seated with menus. Selection of food was really good with lots of variety. We ordered a caraf of the Pinot noir which was good and then just main courses. Food was fairly slow to come out and the restaurant didn't seem all that busy. It was really the service that let it done though. The waitress and her manger were dsscussing Luther tables right behind us when there was plenty of space to move the conversation off our ear shot. The manager bumped my chair without apolpologising and took my glass away when I wasn't quite finished (it was only a tiny bit left mind but I was still drinking). I would expect a venue like this to have better service, the food was fantastic but not good enough to save the rating I gave.

   Lombard St continues to offer a great wine list at pretty reasonable prices - and a great atmosphere to enjoy a glass. In fact with the carafe options there is good value options all over the wine list. However this time I made the mistake of ordering some of the small bite nibbles and thereby destroyed any good value to be found on the wine list. The nuts are the same as they give away for free, the squid was passable but expensive and the chicken goujons were embarassingly few in number - not that you would think it when looking at the price on the menu. I think those three items alone cost the same as two proper courses at the top of the Walkie Talkie where we went to eat afterwards. I've never actually had dinner at Lombard St although it looks good - I'd check it wasn't as ridiculously priced as the bar food before I did though. But I will be back for the good wine in a great location.

    Dover sole was excellent and the service was great. I went here on Friday for a business lunch and it was the perfect setting.
