Queen Mary Tea Room
Birthday for my 23 year old niece. It was fabulous as always, but it’s been a few years and I was surprised how much the price has gone up. I’m retired on a fixed income now so it is hard.
The food there was average. Afternoon tea was overpriced for the amount of food you actually get. The ambiance was good so that's what you're paying for.
We were there when there was a very excited baby shower happening, so the noise level would be skewed a bit! Other than that, the food and staff were superb, and it was a splendid experience overall! Will return!!
I’ve been going to Queen Mary’s for over 20 years. I was so excited to share this gem with the ladies I work with as a gift. One of my coworkers had never been to QM’s unfortunately the service was terrible. They take your credit card as part of your reservation, in case you don’t show? I brought 4 ladies to tea and myself. I changed our reservation over the phone the day before. I tried to modify it via Ooen Table too. When we arrived the table wasn’t ready. When we finally sat down not enough waters. I had to go to the station where they were all behind the counter to tell them. No one checked on us for a long long long time. I finally went up to the counter about the water. Then they didn’t bring the correct number of scones, I had to get up after telling the server we were missing one, they forgot a crime brûlée entirely even though she asked us when we wanted it brought. Very inattentive. There were only 5 tables booked in the entire place. Not at all full. Which is funny to me as the person over the phone told me she would have to check and see if I could add two ladies. She was just not sure if she could squeeze us in. It was not a full house by any means. I’ve been to Qm’s When every table was booked. It was not their best day. Lots of girls to serve too. I felt bad that I had told my coworkers it was so wonderful:( We drove 45 mins to come. We’ve also had tea at the tea house in Sumner. Bigger venue and better service! The staff are always kind.
been coming here for over 20 years. always wonderful
We arrived early for our reservation and were welcomed in although we had offered to wait for our designated time. The area was maybe 3/4 full. We took our time to order. Once our order was placed which included a “champagne” drink it took an appropriate amount of time to get our tea and soon followed by the food but no sign of our drinks. When we inquired of the drinks we were advised they were coming. The tea room and tables are quite small which I knew and I’m fine with but repeatedly we had to ask staff to remove empty dishes. It would seem with the tight spaces this would be a priority every time staff passes a table - our table was in the main flow so staff repeatedly had to pass by. It was disappointing that for a $50+ lunch the service was not better especially since I was trying to introduce someone to both the Queen Mary and afternoon tea, I don’t think she was impressed.
Dining here has always been a delight, the atmosphere is lovely and the selection of teas is full of favorites old and new for me. Always worth the drive for a weekend date!
I took my mom and her best friend to the Queen Mary for afternoon tea to celebrate my mom’s birthday. We had an outstanding lunch! The food, service and ambience was top notch. We will definitely return!!
Had Formal Holiday High Tea with a friend. It was wonderful. Our server, Megan, was quick, efficient and friendly.
The restaurant was flooding while we were there. People were dining at tables with water underneath. The food was also not as good as it was previously. I was surprised they chose to stay open.
Wonderful place! This is our annual tradition! We look forward to going here every year! They have a large selection of teas and the food is great. We always do the afternoon tea. The food is good for anyone who is new to doing afternoon tea, the selection gives you a taste of elegance afternoon tea without pushing comfort zones.
This place is a definitely unique place to have families or friends to spend a great time and cherish the moment. The rooms were fully decorated with Christmas ornaments and full of the nutcracker toys. The service was great even though the room was packed. I recommend to everyone who wants to enjoy any special occasions.
We met the queen herself. It was a delightful afternoon tea with delicious canapés and desserts. The tea was spectacular. Do not confuse the tea room with the emporium down the street.
Queen Mary Tea Room is always a lovely experience! My mom, her best friend, and I have been going every Christmas for 4 years now and it is always a great time. The service is prompt and kind, the tea room is very cute, and the food and tea are delicious!
This is our 4th year coming for a special Christmas Tea. The Queen Mary Tea Room is magical! My girls love this place and so do I!
Overall, an incredible experience. It was my first time going and I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants an opportunity to relax for an evening. The food was delicious and the service was exceptional.
Queen Mary's is one of the few places you can find a true afternoon tea that we enjoy for special occasions. It's in a quaint old Victorian which makes it teeny tiny. Unfortunately, that also means you are sitting very close to the parties on either side. Our visit this time was next to a group of older ladies that were enjoying very loud conversations, making it hard for our party of two to hear each other or the server. The food was scrumptious, as always, and my daughter was delighted that the sip of creamy soup was dairy free. The delicious Christmas Cookies tea is one I always order during the holidays, it's subtle vanilla flavor is decadent. Mary herself brings around samples of tea, and is a charming woman to chat with. Our visit always ends with a trip to the emporium down the street to stock up on holiday flavors of loose leaf teas.
Great service. Food was ok but not worth the price
Lovely spot for brunch or Afternoon tea. Good tea selection and food nicely presented in somewhat cramped rooms. Would recommend for special occasions only. Didn’t find value for money here. Almost $30.00 for a slice of quiche, tea and some potatoes. Need I say more.
The service was very good and the decor was extremely nice. However the tea was very weak flavored. And the food was quite expensive for the small portions that we received.
Took my adult daughter for holiday tea. This was our first time and the place was adorable. The owner was lovely. Overall it was a wonderful time. I just wished there was less sweets and more savory options that came on the holiday tower. Maybe it was because they started with sorbet and a cookie. I think it would have been nice to start with a bigger cup of the wonderful soup and saved the sorbet and cookie for later or just didn’t serve it. I can’t believe I have lived in Seattle 25 years and just found this cute place.
Love going to the Queen Mary. Small restaurant but cozy and full of wonderful items to view. Their teas are outstanding and the food is extra delicious. Friendly, prompt and helpful waitresses. I would recommend this as a cozy delightful tea room for get-together any time.
I waited too long to make a reservation so ended up going to brunch instead of lunch—now I am glad I did! The food was superb! I had a scramble and my friend had perfectly cooked eggs. Presentation was beautiful. Our server was attentive without being intrusive. Since other customers were gradually arriving while we were there, we were able to visit easily. Tables are very close together so you hope the people next to you are friendly but also aware of their own volume, etc. I will definitely return sooner rather than later, probably for brunch again!
We have been coming to Queen Mary's teahouse for over 25 years and it is always excellent!
We frequent Queen Mary for special occasions several times a year. It is usually always a wonderful experience! As this was Christmas time, this particular visit seemed a bit too crowded and so noisy. It was enjoyable and the food was great but we just felt so squished.
We have been going to the Queen Mary for years. It's always been our place for celebrations and special occasions. We understand that it's incredibly popular and reservations are a must. We also understand that you have to reserve with a credit card and that probably due to people no-showing and canceling at the last minute they now require a 72 hour cancellation notice. When they called a couple of days before our reservation date to remind us, I was firmly reminded that my reservation was for two and I had two hours maximum. That irritated me a bit. I realize people must linger and take their time. I get it. But the reminder was off-putting. When I told my sister about it, she was put-off too. So it wasn't just me. But...like I said, we get it. Rules have to be in place because people take advantage every chance they get, I suppose. The tea and food were good - like every time before. It is so tight in there, sometimes it feels like you're sitting on top of each other, but we'll call it cozy. For the price, the food and tea you get are fair. It's always been a whimsical thing for us though. I don't know if it's that we've grown accustomed to the whimsy and special-ness of it or if all the new rules and hard lines make it less special, but for the first time in ever we're discussing finding a new tearoom. We'll see. It's still fun...but something just feels off now.
This is a fun spot - my friend and I come here twice a year to celebrate each other's birthdays. They are very flexible with their afternoon tea foods and have a lovely tea selection. The place itself is a bit cramped and very kitschy but a fun experience.
We truly enjoyed the holiday high tea! It has great ambiance, lovely decor, delicious teas and foods, and the presentation is masterful!
My very first English afternoon tea. Got dressed up, got there early and was seated in the perfect spot for one who is hearing impaired (just to the right of the front door with only two tables "in the corner," definitely quiet enough to carry on an easy conversation).
Amazing gluten free high tea. Scones, sandwiches, soup, and desserts were all amazing. Took a lot of food home and that was dinner. Such a fun special occasion outing!
The tea room is always a treat. Decorated in lots of English kitsch and a wonderful bakery. Always a great choice of teas and afternoon tea as well. Tables are squished close together - they need to add more room but the building is small. A nice place for a chat with girlfriends.
Started off our Sunday with Afternoon Tea. We arrived 5 min. early, but because of the rain they seated us right away, gave us menus and told us it would be a few min. True to their word , we got water, were give time to peruse the many teas and had wonderful service. Thanks for making our early Christmas so special. The decor was incredible.
Beautiful place! My second time being here and it always leaves me wanting to come right back.
The place was very lovely and decorative for the holiday. Heard a lot about this place and want to check out, I was not disappointed. Abit busy bit loving it. A lot of tea choices to pick. The services are great and fast too. The food was good. Great place to catch up with friends.
Unfortunately we had to leave before the food came out, we had an accident with the tea pot tipped over and spilled hot tea all over my grand nephew and myself. We ended up having to box the food to go. Suggestion: maybe provide a high chair for guest who have babies?
Went for my daughter’s 3 year birthday. She loved it!
Have been coming here for years, and it honestly gets better every time! The warmth and hospitality are second to none, and the tea selection and food are excellent. They’re my favorite high tea place in the PNW. The tea quality is honestly the best I’ve tasted, and everything I’ve ever eaten here is extraordinary.
Amazing service. The only thing is that we had a reservation and they weren’t able to seat us on our time reserved. We had kids with us and they were super hungry by the time they sat us. Not their fault as the guests before us also had children and they took longer than expected. Maybe they can give a notice so they’d know what time their reservation is over.
I was excited to take my daughter & Granddaughter for Christmas tea. I made the reservation on Nov 1 for Dec 1 @ 1:00. We live a two hour drive away, depending on traffic. Several days after making the reservation I get a phone call asking me to change my time to noon because they had a party w/ a baby wanting the 1:00 slot & needed some extra room. I was speechless. I didn’t know what to say so reluctantly said OK. When I checked w/ my daughter she said it would not work for her. So I called back the next day asking for my 1:00 time back. The managers response was,”you’re asking me to call the other party & cancel? No, I had that time slot first and want it back. That experience totally put a damper on my experience. Then I get an email stating that their busy time is noon to 1:30 and they usually try to keep the 1:00 slot free. What? Then why do you offer that time. We came & were seated at the table by the bathroom, crammed next to two other tables. I will say the food was delicious and our service was top notch. A little pricey for tea but my Granddaughter loved it & that’s what mattered.
Our friendship reunion was truly a delight thanks to the experience at Queen Mary Tearoom! We are grateful for our magical tea sipping adventure!
