From Domaine Restaurant's (Chef Tim Goodell) comes Public Kitchen & Bar, at the historic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, featuring a menu of eclectic American fare. The landmark hotel's re-imagined old Hollywood style dining hall offers locals and travelers alike this stunning setting reminiscent of a stylish and welcoming private home. A loft-inspired design provides a lighter, brighter space highlighted by black walnut butcher block tables, redesigned 1960s library chairs and diamond-tufted banquettes. At the room's center, a large, three-sided, marble topped bar offers creative cocktails, a moderately priced bottle wine list, beers by draft and bottle and an assortment of cured meats and cheeses.

Love love loved the food and the service. Gotta say, the acoustics suck so we might not go back -- the room is just so loud. Yet, we'd recommend to less fussy friends.

Good food and nice restaurant. Service was good, but a little slow. The only downside was it wasn't that vibrant. I had picked it as it said it had a vibrant scene and we were a group of friends going out for the evening. Was fun, but pretty calm and chill.

Went here before a show at the Dolby Theater. This place is across the street from the Chinese Theater, so it is in the thick of things, and you don’t expect it to be cheap. My wife and I each had the Prix Fix, which was expensive, but not unreasonably so. The appetizer and the dessert were good, but nothing to write home about. The main course (we both chose the halibut in lobster sauce) was fabulous. Decor is interesting - a little on the European side, with a decorated ceiling. The room was full and the noise level was a little high, but that is par for the course in LA. At least there were no TV screens that I could see. (I am willing to pay extra for that.) The service was adequate, but could have been more attentive - cost them a star. I will definitely go back, the next time I go to a show in Hollywood.

The ambiance was good for an old-timely gentleman’s club style. I was very disappointed by getting the vegetarian gnocchi that came with pancetta and it was not noted on the menu. That’s a BIG mistake, especially since I don’t eat meat and was completely put off from continuing my meal there. The management apologized but merely stated it was a typo on the menu by not listing it. Not worth going back. It was also deafening because there was a huge party going on in the lobby that made it impossible to carry on a conversation without yelling.

Spent nontraditional Christmas in LA with my wife and adult children (20, 23 27). There was a great assortment of prix fix options and all of our orders were different. The food was extraordinary with perfect balance of spice and flavor. We toasted the holiday, laughed and had a great experience. We did keep the holiday cheer going the entire time and concluded with a nightcap in the Library Bar.

Terrific staff and a great kitchen. Alfredo pasta was perfect, and I asked if chef could go a bit off-menu and add some lardon, they didn't blink an eye and accommodated. Only trick is get a table away from the bar, because people shout conversations at one another. Highly recommend.

The food was very good. The only thing we would have liked better if they had served the mashed potatoes,gravy and green beans in large bowls for everybody to take as much as they like instead of putting it all on one plate with the turkey and stuffing. The appetizer was excellent. We had the pear salad with goat cheese and we all liked the desert. The service was very good. The waiters were very friendly and attentive.

Had dinner here with my 9 year old before going to the live tour of So You Think You Can Dance at the Dolby Theater. Attentive service. Ordered their specialty - Parkerhouse rolls. Unfortunately for them, they had a glitch and served them later than expected so fortunately for us, they were on the house. AND well worth the wait. We had the charred octopus for a starter, which I absolutely loved. It's very hard to find charred octopus that isn't overcooked, and this dish was flavorful and tender. My daughter had the steak, which was juicy, even though we mistakenly ordered medium instead of medium rare. My mussels were heaven. Mind you, I could swim in mussels steamed in wine and broth. Fortunately, they gave me ample toasted bread so that I could eat it instead. This restaurant is located in the Roosevelt Hotel. If you arrive before 6PM and validate, parking is free for the evening. Yet another incentive to eat here if you are going to a venue in the neighborhood.

Came here for dinner before a concert at the Hollywood Bowl. Had a great meal. Free all night parking if you make reservations and arrive before 7pm. Hollywood bowl shuttle is about a block away, north on Orange st. Restaurant is located inside the historic Hollywood Roosevelt hotel. Great food, great location, great bonus with free parking.

We have used open table close to three hundred times and I can honestly say this was the worst experience we have ever had. The place is neat and has so much history. The food was good, not great and better than okay! What made our experience so bad was the Service. We sat for 15 minutes before we were acknowledged. We were just getting up to walk out when a waiter asked if we had been helped. He hustled to get us drinks and that was about the extent of any effort made to make sure we had a good dining experience. Plates of food were dumped at your table. For example, I had a salad. We were asked who had the salad, I raised my hand the plate was dumped and the guy was gone. No question on whether I wanted pepper or not. We had no salt or pepper on our table and I waited 10 minutes for our waiter to appear at another table close by so I could ask him for some. Another dump and no apologies. Same with main entree’s. Dump and go and no one to check how our entree’s were. Very disappointing. We will not be back!!!
