Located in the historic Shapiro's Winery, Essex is a loft-like multi-level space with contemporary cuisine inspired by the flavors of the Lower East Side. With a large mezzanine with private bar as well as an expansive main floor, Essex offers the flexibility to host a variety of events including corporate cocktail parties and dinners, after-show parties, bachelorette parties and birthday celebrations. As a dining destination for over 20 years, we offer comprehensive prix fixe packages combining sit down dinners, passed appetizers and/or buffets with a full open bar, as well as custom food and drink menus. We also provide private and semi-private cocktail spaces for late night celebrations via our guest list.

Our Mezzanine seats up to 65 guests for dinner at 4 large tables with ample room for mingling, making it ideal for parties combining a sit-down dinner with a passed appetizer happy hour. There is a private bar for cocktail parties of up to 75 guests such as holiday parties and late night birthday and post-wedding celebrations.

Main Room

The Main Room, which consists of the Bar Room and adjacent Main Dining Room, holds up to 150 guests for cocktails and passed appetizers and can be combined with one or both balconies for cocktail parties of over 200 guests. With an enormous bar, dance floor and banquette seating, the Main Room is perfect for large corporate events such as holiday and after-show parties. Birthday celebrants can reserve the Main Dining Room and/or portions of the Bar Room after dinner for guest list events.
