Prime 47 - Carmel Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I have eaten at Prime 47 several times. It has been our go to restaurant with friends and family as well as special occasions. We have eaten there twice in the last three weeks and had the same experience. Heather was our waitress on both occasions and I can’t say that she was very attentive. The last two times we have returned a dinner because the meat was not cooked as ordered. Our Hostess never made eye contact or ask to take our coats. I’m not sure if we will be back to eat anytime soon.
I made reservations and still had to wait for a table. Our table was next to a window and it was extremely cold - we ate with our coats on. The wait staff was slow. We waited again for first contact, for our drinks, for our appetizers, to order, for our food. The guy that filled our water glasses was very attentive. We had to ask for a dessert menu. My steak was so-so; not very flavorful and not very hot. It was disappointing considering the cost. I liked the salad and the creamed corn. The cheesy mashed potatoes were not very cheesy and the asparagus had a good taste but was chewy. The Prime Rita was very good but not worth $15.
We received a gift card to prime 47 off of open table and it wasn’t until we were seated when we realized that the gift card was only for the downtown Indianapolis location and not the Carmel one. It was very unclear that the gift card was only for the downtown location since both restaurants have the exact same name.
Early (5:30) NYE service was not good. Waitress was not friendly. Food subpar for the price. Drinks very expensive for what they were. Celebrating a Birthday and the hot cookie dessert was the least expensive and best item we had on a $400. Tab. Lots of competition in the Surrounding area- including Ruths Chris whose steaks are much better quality and size than we were served.
The filets were very poor. No flavor. My wife's was sent back because it was only lukewarm at best. Mine had no flavor and was slightly under cooked. We were both beyond underwhelmed with how a steak house could have such bland meat.
Second, our shareable order was incorrect. We didn't send it back because we were hungry, but they brought out the wrong items. I am not sure what was the deal with our server, but she was not around much to check on us. We had to send a bus boy to fetch her twice.
It was kind of an annoying way to celebrate our anniversary. I am not sure we will go back. I did at least enjoy the meatballs.
My wife and I were not overly impressed with this restaurant. It was our first visit here and thought it would be nice for a Christmas eve dinner. We ordered brussels sprouts for an appetizer that were over-cooked. My steak had to be sent back due to being under-done, and our baked potatoes were barely warm. Our waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable regarding the menu and wine list. This meal ended up costing us well over $200 and I feel like we did not get meals worthy of that cost. Not sure we will return to this restaurant in the future.
It took 20 minutes for our waiter to engage us for the first time. We spent $1100 on two bottles of wine. I had to ask for a decanter and I ended up pouring wine for the table all night. Been there several times and this was not good. Will take my business to Ocean Prime and Fleming’s.
I was very disappointed in my dining experience here. This was my first visit to Prime 47, and unfortunately, it will most likely be my last. First, I requested a quiet, secluded table, and was seated next to a rather boisterous table of 6. Ok, maybe not the restaurant’s fault. How could they know the group would be loud? Nonetheless, they could have seated me next to a two-top, or at worse, a four-top. Next, the lobster bisque was very tasty, but lacking in pieces of lobster. The 8 oz. filet was undercooked and had some irritating seasoning on it. I had to send it back. Why do high end steak restaurants, who charge $50 for a steak, find it necessary to “season” the beef. Leave it alone!! Finally, after dining, it took an inordinate amount of time to finally get my bill. Expensive? Yes. Worth it? No. Summary of fare and cost: 2 Glenlivet cocktails, 1 lobster bisque, 1 filet (8 oz), 1 baked potato. $105 incl. tax and gratuity.
This was a disaster from the time we walked in. No table was reserved for us even though I had made reservations for 7pm; we were placed in a noisy banquet type room rather than in the main restaurant. Our first waitress was very surly and told us that we had to leave by 8 (the kitchen stops taking orders at 8, the restaurants does not close at 8). Thank goodness that a new waiter, Scott, took over who was friendly and efficient. For the price of their dishes, you would expect top rate service. This was nothing of the sort.
I had been to Prime 47 - Carmel previously for business dinners. My family chose Prime 47 - Carmel as the place to celebrate my daughter’s recent completion of her Senior Project. My previous experience with Prime 47 set a high bar. The team did not disappoint - both the food and the service were excellent.
The lighting was very dark. We had to ask them to increase the lighting. It was so bad that we had to use our phone flashlight to see the menu. They did increase the lighting but not much/not enough to see the menu. The food was good but the value of the meal was outrageously expensive. We came here expecting to use our Gift Card that a colleague gifted us. Sadly they wouldn't honor it as we didn't use the right location. They said we have to use the Gift Card at the Downtown location. So with that......$200 that we weren't expecting to spend that night was taken from our account. I feel they should have honored the gift card since its the same restaurant but a different location. It shouldn't matter. We paid the bill that we weren't expecting so it did leave a very bad taste and will not return at this location. Meats are way overpriced. The meal should have at least one side dish along with a soup or salad. The dinner price only included the meat and House salad or House soup. I feel that for the cost of the dinner meal another side should have been included. We will use our gift card at the downtown location but will ask if it is honored there. Very disappointed that this location didn't honor the gift card!!!! We will not recommend this restaurant to our friends and family.
We quite like Prime 47, especially for a special occasion. The food and service are both excellent, and the staff was competent and courteous. It was a little more noisy than I remembered, but perhaps that was just the number of customers who were celebrating. Thanks for a good time!
Another great meal and experience at Prime47
We had a rare Saturday night out and spent it in the bar with Cassie taking care of us. We originally planned to just do apps with a bottle of Italian red wine but also decided to split the large filet - amazing!
The manager accommodated us with a bottle off the menu since the one we chose (a favorite) was not available. Even went for a second bottle of a fantastic Italian red.
Everything was outstanding including and especially Cassie’s friendly attentive service.
Expect us back soon.
Thanks again for another fantastic experience.

We went here for my husbands 30th birthday dinner and it was perfect. Amazing food (pricey but worth it). Get the wasabi mashed potatoes they were amazing. Highly recommend the calamari as well.
The service and attention to detail was amazing. This was our first visit to this restaurant and I was 100% pleased.
Great special occasion place for anniversary or birthday.
We just celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary at Prime 47.-Carmel. What a wonderful night we had thanks to our waiters Olaf and Scott . Olaf was so attentive and really took good care of us. We were even serenaded at our table by the two musicians that were playing there . Our menu had "Happy 45th Wedding Anniversary " printed along the top! Thank you to all of you for making this special night memorable.
As usual, the food was outstanding. Our servers were great. They didn't hover but were there immediately when we needed something. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a restaurant where you can entertain guests and have them be really impressed.
This was the first time in 16 years I have ever seen my husband send back food. His shrimp cocktail tasted overly fishy and dry and my pasta was very bland. HOWEVER, Our service was so excellent I would like to try again. They took the shrimp off the bill and gave us a free dessert and were very friendly from start.
