Brunch for my bride of 47 years
Very nice atmosphere and the food was fabulous. Perfect location too!
Very good food but felt somewhat rushed by server to order, not quite sure why as the restaurant quickly cleared out. The restaurant was beautiful and the outdoor courtyard was amazing, probably second to the food was the ambiance of the outdoor dining.
We had a delightful dining experience. The food was terrific, the service (via Diane) and the rest of the staff was fantastic. Thank you.
My husband and went to Preserved to celebrate our anniversary, and we were offered a choice of a bubbly at the beginning of the meal, or creme brûlée at the end. We chose the latter and it was delicious! The wine selection is wonderful and our server was knowledgeable with the menu and wine list. We began with a cold seafood appetizer for two. Although the specials were tempting, we both chose off the menu. Steak Frites for my husband, while I enjoyed the seared scallops. It was a beautiful August evening and we sat on the wrap around porch, enjoying the subtle breeze. We enjoyed our experience very much and would go back again.
Delicious scallops! My menu favorite. Friend really enjoyed catch of the day..Triple Tail. I always order the Arugula and Beets salad and it did not disappoint! I shared the salad with a friend and it was a generous portion for each of us. The Creme Brûlée was great. We also ordered 2 sides to share around the table but it truly was more food than we could eat. Next time we will resist the sides. We had a party of 4. This restaurant offers a laid back yet upscale atmosphere in their inside dining room. The porch is a favorite when weather is not too muggy. This was another enjoyable experience at Preserved Restaurant!!
Food was great, but not sure I would need to go back, service took FOREVER!
The St. Augustine area has definitely grown since I moved away in 2009. Preserved is definitely an example of the beautiful growth the city has seen. The atmosphere and service was the best we had while visiting and both of our meals (Scallops and Duck entrees) were delicious, our server and assistants were on their game and we never wanted for anything!
Sam, the server, was the perfect mix of informative, friendly, and formal and expertly guided us through the experience. There's no way to say this without it sounding like a braggart, but I've eaten at a bunch of Michelin Star places around the world. Preserved's flounder on crawfish etouffe (with whole pickled okra) was one of the top ten dishes I've ever eaten. The nuance and flavors kept unfurling. I was sure the tomato tartare would be gimmicky. It was an homage to umami. And the middlins in the shrimp and grits were the perfect, creamy texture. I wanted to pack this place up and take it with me.
Terrific meal and service
It was our 40th anniversary and the restaurant acknowledged that, and provided us a complimentary glass of champagne at dinner, which was nice. However, I was left with the impression that we lost our special table (by the window) to a local frequent diner (I understand this at some level), and based on that we ended up being seated late, having to sit outside while we waited (as does everybody, so not a big deal, other than we sat much longer than expected and it was not terribly comfortable weather wise). It was a Sunday night so there may not have been any management staff available, since nobody other than our server ever stopped by to welcome us to this somewhat exclusive restaurant nor to express any recognition of our special event.
Excellent as always.
We recently dined at Preserved for the third time. Honestly, it gets better and better. We always look forward to sampling new, creative additions to the menu. The Tomato Tartare, Roasted Oysters, and Vegetable Potpie did not disappoint; so simple, but so good. The atmosphere is upscale, but relaxed. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and accomodating. The four of us thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Preserved and will surely return during our next visit to St. Augustine.
Best dining experience in town
Had a lovely brunch outside in the lounge area. Our server was spot on and very attentive. Always recommend
We had a birthday brunch for my mom and had a wonderful time! The staff was gracious and attentive (but not intrusive), the food was spectacular (get the scones!), and the ambiance was perfect. I’ll recommend this to anyone who wants local, delicious food.
Excellent food and service. Will definitely be back
My favorite place to eat. Never disappointed! Wonderful service, food and ambiance!!
Preserved used to be one of our favorite restaurants, one which we have recommended to many friends. My two most recent visits, however, have been disappointing: the food simply hasn't measured up to what I recall from the past. For example, the salmon benedict (a brunch dish) arrived with no salmon. The wait staff quickly provided some salmon, but I was left to assemble the dish.
Food is delicious. Friendly staff! Excellent place to visit.
Just like all of our other reviews about The Preserved, one of our favorite Saturday evening dinner spots. Great atmosphere on the covered porch, easy access parking spaces, wonderful "French-like" food and always thoughtful, responsive service. Very tough to beat. Certainly, one of the best, hassle-free venues and dining experiences in St. Augustine.
The presentation of the food was excellent as well as the quality of the food. I was most impressed with attentiveness of the staff to remove dirty plates, refresh water and explain specials for the day as well as wine pairings.
A very nice restaurant with very good service. Atmosphere was very good, food was good but it's a little pricy; however, for a special occasion I would recommend it.
Top quality creative cuisine. Expensive compared to other restaurants in the area but worth a visit if your budget allows.
Sam did an amazing job taking care of our family. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was great. This was the best meal we had on our vacation to St. Augustine.
Steak frites was too tough- was a workout just to chew it. Everything else was excellent
The Preserve has a lovely Southern atmosphere. The food was delicious and perfectly cooked. Sitting on the porch in August was daring ,but the large fans helped, they did however not deter a few pesty mosquitos.
We did enjoy our meal and will be back, I’m sure.
This is a wonderful French Southern cuisine restaurant in St. Augustine. I especially like their Sunday Brunch. The restaurant has the best wine selection around. I have come here frequently somce they opened in April 2016.
Excellent choice! Loved the place, great attendance, the food menu they offer is excellent! 100% recommend
We had a lovely dinner celebrating our 29th wedding anniversary. Thank you for the complimentary sparling wine!
If I could offer one remark/suggestion, staggering tables that are so close together. While we enjoyed the company of a lovely couple (in their 80s), it would have been nice to have some space between us so we weren't "dining" with them since it was a special night for us. They injected themselves and, while we were trying to be polite, I couldn't help but wonder if our table was staggered it would leave us a bit more separated. And while there was a division between us on the covered porch and the table inside, there was a see through window so we never felt our dinner was intimate or private enough.
We absolutely adore your restaurant and came from DeLand to experience a night of fine dining. Our waitress was quite lovely!!
Friends had been before. We Loved the atmosphere, knew about the history of the building so wonderful to see this thriving. Thought it was a little pricey but enjoyed the meal.
We came to this restaurant during a weekend getaway. We enjoyed the farm to table selection and fresh ingredients. The service and setting were superb.
The service was pretty good, and it was a pleasant surprise to be started with a glass of sparkling wine for our anniversary. The rest of the experience was not so great. We have been to Preserved for brunch a few times and the food was always great. I took my wife there for our anniversary dinner and it was mediocre across the board. I started with the foie gras, which was not like any foie gras I have ever had - it was more like thin slices of liverwurst (in appearance, texture and taste). Very disappointing. I had the duck for my main which was actually tough and the skin was very chewy (not crisp at all). The wife had the braised short rib for dinner which was actually tasty, but had to be sent back because it was cold/lukewarm when it was brought to her. The food was not terrible, it was just not any where near worth the price.
The Preserved is a charming restaurant with courteous staff and amazing food. The presentation is lovely with a wonderful and unique array of flavors. The experience is unique for the ambiance and the food. Anyone going to St Augustine must make reservations here—highly recommended.
Excellent evening. Walked down from our B&B, sat outside on porch, had a relaxed meal with staff on top of everything and timely. Food very good. Will certainly return.
beautifully presented food in a lovely setting and a wonderful wine list. great service as well.
The food was excellent and the place was lovely. We had been sightseeing all day and was not dressed for dinner but felt welcomed anyway. We would definitely return to Preserved if ever in the area.
Absolutely charming setting in St. Augustine with an innovative menu. Our meal started with hostess standing not being staffed. When we walked into the restaurant, no one came to help us and when someone did finally come up to us they had a bit of an attitude that we had walked on into the restaurant without stopping at the hostess stand. Our waiter was nice and knowledgeable about the menu, however for most of the dinner he was absent and unavailable. When our food finally did arrive the shrimp was over-cooked on the Shrimp and Grits; and the fresh fish of the night, flounder was pan fried to a crisp and instead of being light and flaky was tough. Very disappointed.
