Preserved Restaurant, owned and operated by James Beard Award nominee Chef Brian Whittington, serves authentic, locally-sourced, ingredient-driven southern cuisine, giving homage to the history of Lincolnville.
This restaurant never disappoints! My Red Snapper Filet was perfectly prepared and beautifully presented.
We were excited to go here because of the many fine reviews however we left very disappointed.
Pros: Our server was excellent. The Arugula Salad was very nice and we had a nice bottle of wine.
Cons: I'm a big fan of Moule Frites. I think it says a lot about a restaurant when they can nail this simple dish. I also love to spoon up whatever sauce concoction the mussels are cooked in. So how disappointed was I when the broth was virtually inedible. No flavor and honestly it tasted no better than dishwater. Huge disappointment. A fair few of the mussels were barely open too. We also seemed to get the bottom of the barrel where our fries were concerned - just the bits and pieces at the bottom of the pan.
We didn't complain - we'll just never be back.
Great spot! Fantastic personalized service and great food!!! Thank you for a lovely evening.
Outstanding food and service. Great wine list. Responsible social distancing.
As always, our dinner at Preserved was amazing, the service perfect. Dianne took good care of us. We will be back.
This is a MUST if you are in St Augustine! Amazing food!
I've lived in St Augustine for nearly 30 years. Preserved is one of the oldest city's three or four high-end restaurants, and it's the best of that group for Sunday brunch. Professional, efficient and friendly wait staff, and a well-conceived menu of brunch favorites. For the last several weeks I've made the same 10 AM reservation and plan on making it a habit.
Seated promptly on the lovely covered porch. Exceptional service from our server, Heather. She was fantastic! The entire staff was amazing as well. They work well together as a team!
We started with Heather's recommended wine - a bottle of Chenin Blanc (can't recall the name right now)
As a starter, we ordered the Charcuterie Board: pate de campagne, house cured duck prosciutto, short rib rillettes, smoked andouille sausage, house pickles, jam, mustards, with French & American cheeses.
Our 2 entrees were:
Cheshire Pork Chop with braised cabbage, roasted fingerling potatoes, and pommery mustard cream. (We added a side of roasted Brussels sprouts and mushrooms)
Mayport Shrimp & Grits: Anson Mills antebellum grits, Mayport shrimp, house bacon, creamed corn
Both were mouthwateringly delicious.
We finished with 2 desserts:
1. Creme Brulee, partnered with a glass of Heather's recommended Pinot noir. 2. The House ice cream trio: spicy chocolate, rocky road, and strawberry, served with fresh coffee.
WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND PRESERVED!
Make a reservation!
The waitress was awesome. The food was excellent but too pricey. Would go back but not often due to the cost.
Always the best food in St. Augustine.
Extensive WINE list choices.
Cost is worth it.
Preserved continues to impress: the decor, the food, the service and the wine selection. Every time we have dined seems to be more impressive that the last. Hats off to everyone. It's a destination experience!
Exceptional charcuterie plate. Fantastic neighborhood gem. Worth the drive from Jacksonville.
This is a very nice fine dining restaurant, which offers superb dinner (supper) and brunch menus, and an incredible wine selection (finest in NE Florida). The service is very friendly and attentive. I come here often!
Was looking for a new place to go in St. Augustine and we found a gem! We came for brunch and sat outside - there was a nice breeze and the tables were not crowded. We started with appetizers - roasted oysters and the mussels. They were both cooked perfectly. My husband ordered the smoke salmon benedict and at first we thought it was an odd presentation, the blocks of salmon were placed next to the poached egg - but it worked lovely. The salmon had a delightful smoke all thru it and the eggs were poached perfectly, nice runny yolks. I ordered the chicken biscuit with gravy. The coating on the chicken was delicious and crispy, the biscuit was heavenly with a sweetness to it and the gravy was not a glob of floury substance at all...actually light, with a little sausage and a wonderful herbaceous note of sage! All of the flavors in every dish were excellent.
This is a wonderful restaurant. The food is delicious and the ambiance very nice. We have eaten different meals (brunch, dinner) here and have always had good service, excellent food and terrific atmosphere. They have comfortable outdoor seating areas and are taking COVID protocols seriously. All servers were wearing masks.
The Preserved is one of our favorite restaurants to go too for a Special Occassion. It is always spot on when it comes to Presentation, Service, and Quality. Pam our waitress had many suggestions and was very knowledgeable about wine selections and food pairings.
The only drawback is the table we were sitting at on the far left of the veranda should have a shade if your reservations are during the hours of 5-7pm. The Sunset shines on you. But, as always, We'll see you all again soon. Bravo !!
Food and service were good though the garden dining area furniture could be a little more comfortable
Fantastic meal and service. Charcuterie was off the charts good, as well as the ribeye special.
Awesome , interesting dining experience
The front porch was pleasant in this late 1800’s historic home. The seating had a nice breeze on a hot summer day so we were fortunate since sitting outside was preferred. The server was enjoyable and well spoken when explaining the intricate details of the meals. Tables were well spaced not only for distancing but also to minimize noise. The vegetable shepherd's pie was very tasty and large enough that leftovers we’re required. The shrimp and grits and 12 ounce steak were both given a thumbs up by the others diners.
Delightful evening with excellent, knowledgeable and thoughtful wait staff. We’ll be back !
One of StAug's restaurants that we, as locals, have been looking forward to trying. It did not disappoint and we will return, especially for a special celebration or to bring visiting guests. Obvious care to quality, presentation and flavor is given. Professional staff and simple, yet lovely place.
We were seated outside on the porch away from everyone. It felt like our own private space. The food was top notch, one of my favorite meals. For a special occasion I would highly recommend this lovely place.
Great brunch! Food was amazing. Wish they had a liquor license for a Bloody Mary but do wine and beer.🌺
Had 102 Bridge Eggs. Everything wonderful except the two included oysters were extremely small. Not sure I would order that again.
Incredible locally sourced, clean ingrediants made into the most tasty bites! Sunday Brunch was incredibly delectable! I highly recommend the eggs benedict and the strawberry shortcake!
Amazing food! Loved the ambiance!
Great food. Great atmosphere. Masks worn, but my wife noticed two hostesses (younger two) kept taking their masks off while cleaning the silverware and glasses. That’s the last place anyone should be doing that. Masks were required, but it needs to be enforced with these two particular staff members.
The staff was gracious and accommodating of my early arrival. They provided excellent recommendations and the atmosphere was lovely.
It was a wonderful experience and a great place for date night. I work in the culinary industry and the food was wonderful. The Charcuterie board was outstanding. Everything was tasty and will definitely go back again.
Beautiful restaurant and delicious food. Very romantic perfect for date night
Everything about this experience was memorable and perfect. The service was on point (Heather was fun yet professional, a difficult combination to achieve), the ticket times were unbelievably quick, the meal was paced in a timely manner (again thanks to Heather and the kitchen staff), the food was prepared perfectly, the menu was diverse, I could go on and on. I work at a hotel downtown and recommend this restaurant over ours, it’s that amazing. I’ve had multiple experiences here and each one has been special. Can not recommend enough.
This restaurant was delicious. We sat on the porch and loved it.
Not the same as before Covid ... staff all very professional and welcoming but not relaxed
Won't be going back , a shame , as this used to be my favorite dinner date in St. A :(
This was an anniversary dinner for my wife and I. We were seated outside in a covered area just outside the main building with good ventilation so we weren't hot (which is important with July in Florida). The food was excellent - I had a beef carpaccio appetizer which was a little different than typical as the beef was in small pieces as opposed to slices but very tasty. I had the boulibasse for my entree which was very good as well. My wife had a soup of the day (gaspacho with watermelon and mint) and a fish special. Hers were excellent as well. Since it was out anniversary, they provided a complimentary creme brulee which was excellent. Our server was outstanding.
The serve was fantastic
Best brunch I’ve had in a long time!
Best hollandaise sauce I’ve ever had
As always, the food was incredible. Our server was so sweet and knew the menu options very well. Everytime we go to St Augustine we always eat at The Preserved. The food is undescribably delicious, the restaurant is clean and beautiful and the staff is always very friendly and allows you the time to sit and enjoy your meal. We are so excited to come back for dinner in October for our anniversary.
Fantastic brunch experience. The seating outside was comfortable, the service was attentive, and the food and presentation were both impeccable. We can’t wait to return for another lovely brunch experience soon.
