Portland opened in 2015 and received a Michelin star the same year - which we have retained to this day. We try to offer the best contemporary example of fine dining in London – the finest produce we can find cooked with precision and a high level of technique led by our executive chef Stuart Andrew and head chef Chris Bassett and his team.

We offer a la carte and also a Tasting Menu at lunch and dinner.

Wine is as important as food and service at Portland. Our main wine list aims to offer brilliant value on interesting, different wines which we hope you seldom see on restaurant wine lists. Our Single Bottle List contains bins of some of the world’s finest wines and also more accessible offerings from our favourite producers.

Apart from the main restaurant, we hope that our private room and its offer of secluded and separate dining is just the thing for special family events or business meetings.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of our restaurant we are offering a special tasting menu at £55. Leaning on classic dishes from our first decade this offers a chance to experience Portland at a very special price. A sample menu is below – please note some dishes are subject to change. The monthly changing menu is available for early evening dinner bookings made between 5:30-6:30pm

We love fine dining and this restaurant did not disappoint. We were greeted warmly, we were offered water as soon as we were seated. Service of drinks and food was smooth and efficient but not intrusive. We had the lunch menu and despite it being a late lunch, each course was cooked fresh and delicious. There was a great wine choice, however the wine was a little overpriced for what it was. We really enjoyed our lunch and felt very relaxed, there was no rush for us to leave despite it being after service had closed.

We visited The Portland for lunch on a Saturday. First impressions were that it was quite loud but this settled reasonably quickly. Staff were attentive but not intrusive. The food was excellent, with particular highlights being the rump and pork mains, and the butter poached oyster in the snack assortment. Portion sizes were appropriate for a la carte, which was a marked change from some other restaurants that also offer tasting menus. The drinks were very well made, we had a negroni and the elderflower gin fizz, both of which went down very well on a warm summers day. Wine list was well balanced, and staff made sure our glasses were topped up and water was always on the table. Overall, an excellent lunch and we would certainly return if back in London.

Always enjoyed food at the Portland. My children and my husband both enjoyed their dishes. It was nice to pre celebrate Father’s Day at the restaurant. The private room is lovely. Would love to come back to host a dinner at the private room, the lady who serviced us was very helpful and friendly. Can’t wait to come back,

What a gem of a restaurant. The food was perfect….delicious and just the right portion size. Service is friendly and unobtrusive. Relaxed and easy going atmosphere….thoroughly enjoyed it for a catch up birthday lunch.

We were gifted the tasting menu with wine pairing at The Portland as a wedding present from my sister and brother-in-law, and we finally went last night and what an incredible experience! Hands down, one of the best meals we’ve had in London in a long time. Before this, we were huge fans of Cornerstone, and when it closed, we weren’t sure where to go next. We were looking for something no-frills but still elegant: simple, thoughtful cooking that felt like a real treat without being over the top. The Portland delivered all of that and more! The food was flawless, beautifully presented and balanced, and absolutely delicious from start to finish. The wine pairings were spot on and enhanced every dish. But what truly stood out was the service. The staff were exceptional: warm, welcoming, and attentive without ever being intrusive. It was the perfect balance! We never felt rushed, but we were never left waiting either. To top it all off, we were given a copy of the menu with the date on it as a keepsake, along with a jar of honey and a handwritten card signed by the whole team congratulating us on our wedding. We've never experienced anything like that in London before — such a thoughtful, personal touch. We left feeling genuinely looked after. What a privilege to have had such a special evening — we’re so happy to have found The Portland and can’t wait to return.

Portland was as approachable as we had hoped while traveling with young children. The staff was incredibly warm, inviting and accommodating to special requests. The food was outstanding. Thank you Portland for a memorable evening in London
