Porterhouse Steak and Seafood - Lakeville Ratings and Reviews
We have driven by Porterhouse the past ten years without ever trying it. This year for my wife's birthday I made reservations here at her request to try something different. We usually go to Ruth's Chris, Pittsburgh Blue, or Kincaid's for special events.
We had a wonderful experience. Very nice interior of leather and woodwork, and the big bonus is that it was much quieter than those other places. Other diner's conversations were not overwhelming, so I think the acoustics much be better.
Service was the best, attentive and friendly with good recommendations made. Food was awesome, my wife had the Porterhouse and I had the NY Strip with a lobster tail. Both steaks cooked perfectly and my wife remarked that hers was seasoned better than other places. The lobster tail was the best from a freshness, texture, and taste standpoint that I have had outside of Baja California fresh from the ocean. Cocktails were very good as well as the wine selection.
Prices were where they should be for the quality of food, service, and the atmosphere. My only suggestion would be to expand the side selections for entrees. The baked potatoes were very good, but it is always nice to see an au gratin or scalloped potato option as well as further vegetable side choices.
We will definitely be back!
Celebrated Valentine's day couple days late but had a wonderful dinner. It has been a couple of years since I was last there. It didn't disappoint then and certainly not for this occasion. Our food was prepared perfectly and our server couldn't have been any nicer. Keep up the long standing tradition of excellence, we'll be back.
Our server was FANTASTIC and had good suggestions when asked about wine selection and food. She made our experience even better with a good sense of humor, friendliness and knowledge of the menu items. The food was terrific and the perfect compliment to our anniversary celebration.
We came tried The Porterhouse Steakhouse for the first time for my boyfriend's 35th birthday. He loves big sized portions of meat and this place no doubt has that! Food was awesome, definitely come hungry. Our waitress was Lindsey, very down to earth. We are not swanky people and this place was way above our regular Perkins stop, but we knew what to expect. Service was great. The staff was super nice. Great place if you want a huge meal and no kid environment.
Food and service was outstanding. Only complaint was temperature of dining room. Everyone in our group of six said it was to cool - February date. Food for e tire table served at once. Server was very knowledgable. We would definetly recommend and will return.
Food was great. There was just something missing. Service, likely. We’re not snobs by any stretch, but for the amount of money we spent, we expected to feel ‘special.’ We had to ask our server her name. When our meal came, we didn’t have clean silverware (I grabbed from an adjacent table). My wife was missing the side she requested. Our server appeared very rushed through the whole meal. No fun banter, no ‘How are you guys doing tonight?’ All business. We were celebrating my wife’s birthday, which we indicated when we made the reservation, but no mention. Not even a desire to find out. Places like Manny’s are more expensive, to be sure. But we’ve never walked out of there feeling anything less than special, like we’ve had an experience. That was lacking here. I’d recommend for the food, but not for the overall experience. We’ll likely spend the extra money to go somewhere the experience is memorable. This was not.
We came here because the reputation of the steaks! The ambiance was great, the service was less than attentive, drinks were good, and the steak was a disappointment. The steak was the Porterhouse Steak with the super tender part, which was great, and then the T bone side was very gristly and not expected for this type of steak. A bit disappointed.
We had a lovely meal with great food and fantastic service. My husband's steak was cooked perfectly. We were pleasantly surprised with a huge complimentary birthday cake--enough to feed four people. This is definitely a great special occasion restaurant and we will return.
We had the cobb salad, excellent and the 28 oz rib eye, also excellent. My wife had a lobster tail add on and that too was excellent. The only negative is the price of the wine. We used to buy a bottle of Murphy-Goode cabernet but at $35 for a $10 bottle of wine, that seems too steep for us. So we settled on a glass each of Four Oaks cab @$11.
Flavors of dishes excellent but the 5 entrees arrived luke warm...this included everything on the plate (steak/fish/baked potato etc.). Had the food been hot out of the kitchen would have rated the food and overall "outstanding". Pity......
We decided not worth sending back assuming that dishes would be re fired and not microwave re heated causing delay in eating process. Previous visit perfect.
Everything was wonderful as always! Porterhouse is our special occasion destination at least twice a year. This time was a little more noisy as the table next to us was celebrating a birthday and the table of 8 were jostling for talk time between themselves.
I have written other reviews on this restaurant, nothing changes at this place. This was a gift certificate from my children for my wife and I. The tables are to close, it's like eating with friends you don't know or care to be with. Unless you have a booth it is so noisy and loud it is hard to converse. The food presentation is the worst. Order a steak, it comes out alone on a mammoth plate, no garnish, just looks horrible. Broccoli looks like a small bonsai tree, no sauces, just steamed nothings. Order spinach and you will look at it an wonder if you should eat it the presentation is just sloppy. Should presentation matter, yes! The food is adequate, but that is all I can say for the price and presentation. Our server was very pleasant. I did have a problem with my food, the manager came over and in my opinion was fairly unprofessional like what I was "complaining" about was my fault. I used to entertain clients there all the time, I don't any longer and if this had not been a gift certificate I would have spent my $150.00 elsewhere.
This was our third time here over the past few years. Always had a great experience. This time, though, I don't know. Just felt like they missed the mark. Ordered all the steaks medium-rare. They were all too much pink. The porterhouse my wife got was very chewy, and even tough in some places. My son's black and blue ribeye seemed a little too over seasoned (had it before myself, so was able to compare). To top it off, I typed "birthday" into the online reservation when I made it (we were celebrating my wife's birthday), and at no point during the meal did the waiter ask or bring it up.
My wife and I were looking for a nice steakhouse to try in the metro area. We chose Porterhouse based on the online menu and the location. Although it was a little noisy, we found the service excellent and the food very good. Drink prices were a little spendy but maybe that is normal for this type of restaurant. We enjoyed ourselves and plan another visit in the coming months.
Not the first time I have made a reservation weeks in advance, requesting a booth and not having it available. The floor tables are way to close to one another. This is hardly "Paris" !!
I think the Porterhouse is overrated. I think the staff is rather snooty. It's always packed but I believe it is only because there is no competition in this area other than some Bars and "Green Mill" " Applebees" level of restaurants. Will probably go again though for that very reason.
We had reservations, and were seated promptly. The restaurant was decorated nice, but not over-dressed. Our server, and other members of the staff, were attentive to our needs. The used dinnerware was removed in a timely manner. Our food was spectacular from beginning to end. Our steaks were cooked perfectly! It was a very nice evening.
