I've had two business lunches and three personal dinners at Poggio, every one pleasant and satisfying. The decor is elegant and warm, the menu varied and creatively prepared so that familiar standards - linguine with clams, say, or a grilled salmon, tend to arrive with a pleasing culinary twist. Highly recommend for a pleasant getaway, especially from San Francisco's frenzied restaurant and bar scenes.
I feel bad giving Poggio a so-so rating. My anatra was great, but my three companions all had complaints: the linguini with clams was tastelessly bland, while the beef ragu with pesto pillows was too spicy. Also, service was neglectful. We were about 15 minutes late and the restaurant graciously held our table, but then let nearly an hour elapse after bringing our cocktails before letting us put in our dinner orders. And they weren't that busy! We have had better meals and better service here, and I would gladly come again, but my husband and friends will likely opt for elsewhere.
how lovely to be able to sit outdoors. and food always good. if you are lucky enough to have a mexican-american waiter originating from mexico city, good for you! he was great!
We had a lovely Mother’s Day dinner. Every plate we ordered were amazing!
Poggio staff and room are still wonderful. The food just does not measure up any longer and I think we will no longer eat at Poggio. The three different pastas we had were bland and the salad was just ok. The Lemon dessert was good but nothing special...like it used to be.
It is too bad, since the staff is wonderful and the room is gorgeous.
Excellent food as has been my past experience. My ravioli with vegetables was like spring on a plate. We shared an elegantly presented tiramisu for desert. It can be noisy depending upon where you sit.
Excellent Sausalito standby. I have never been dissapointed by a meal here. Well, maybe except when they ran out of the big tuna crudo...
Super flavorful food. Wonderful comfortable ambiance. Excellent wine list with a nice variety of smaller pours.
By and large excellent service.
Good dinner but daughter and I had a little in a hurry tummy trouble within 2 hours after
I went for brunch on Mothers Day and realized it was the same menu as for dinner & lunch. So somewhat disappointed that there wasn't a brunch menu to order from. Our waiter Mark was phenomenal and very accommodating . I would give the Gnudi an A+, and my risotto a B lacked flavor and fish was skimpy.
Celebrating a friend's retirement.
Good drinks and food , bread and sparkling water tasty
Great service. Arrived a few minutes earlier than our reservation but we got seated immediately. Great appetizers, go for carpaccio and tuna tartare
The homemade pasta dishes were delicious. We’d go here again.
This is our go-to restaurant for Marin. It’s always dependable and the menu selections are always so large that we have a difficult time making decisions. We like to order everything on the menu, which is impossible.
We highly recommend this to everyone interested in creative and delicious Italian food.
The service started off great if not aloof, but as the evening wore on, 7:15 - 8:30 PM there was a huge pause between starters and entree, our replacement silverware was thrown on the table in a rush, we wondered if this was aiming for a casual feel? We were left for 30 minutes with dirty entree plates and needed to flag down anyone who would clear, we gave up on celebrating our daughters 13th birthday as we wrote the check and ran after a waiter asking for some kind of dessert to commemorate this special occasion.
It had been over a year since eating at Poggio's, and it was even better than the last time! I will make a point of returning more oftern.
Excellent, as always. Excellent, as always. Excellent, as always!
This restaurant is just a fun place. The outdoor seating is great, right on Bridgeway. The food is fantastic and innovative, and the service was excellent and very accommodating. Highly recommend it
Physically a beautiful space. The menu was quite extensive. Waitstaff were dressed in similar upscale fashion. Wine list was good, and moderately priced but lacked depth and had few aged selections. We each ordered appetizers and a main course. The salad was fresh and the soup had good flavor, unfortunately however the temperature of the soup was only “warm”. A fair amount of time passed between the appetizers and the main course. My pork chop and polenta was not served hot and was under cooked. My dinner guest had pasta which was also served lukewarm.. as if the entrees had been sitting out in the kitchen for a prolonged time. Clearly a total lack of attention to detail. Not a place that I would return anytime soon.
HAVE BEEN GOING TO POGGIO FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS FOLLOWING A MATINEE
THEATER SHOWING IN THE CITY OF SAN FRANCISCO. THE BARTENDER MAKES ONE
HELLAVE MARTINI, AS WELL AS OTHER DRINKS. THE FOOD IS ALWAYS EXCEPTIONAL,
AND THE SERVICE IS EXCELLENT. TOO, THERE IS VALET PARKING THAT COSTS NOTHING
WHEN VALIDATED. WILL WE CONTINUE TO VISIT POGGIO, DEFINITELY!
As always, Poggio was fantastico! We love the Tuesday night suppers that come with share plates of 5 (!) appetizers, main course and dessert. Best of all, we treat a night at Poggio as an evening in Italy. The food is rustic, authentic and super-fresh with lots of locally grown veggies . We stroll along the Sausalito waterfront and arrive to the downtown restaurant that could have been plucked right out of Portofino. Service is measured and attentive.
Their Tuesday dinners are delicious and a remarkable value. Service is always professional and thoughtful.
Fantastic as always!

Birthday dinner, love this location especially for the bartender, he’s so fun and personable! Great quality food and ambiance.
Waiters should not be so pushy to kick customers out while they still have food on your plate
Great lunch service at the bar with Jorge as our server. The menu is unique and the food is cooked beautifully. The restaurant recognized our birthday celebration very nicely.
Great settings for a comfortable lunch with outstanding pasta!
Food was superb and tasted amazing! Service was good but it took a while for our waitress to return and take our dessert order. She may have just had too many large parties. Consequently, we paid the bill and left instead of ordering dessert and coffee. I'd definitely go back though...everyone was very nice, professional and attentive otherwise.
I have loved, and continue to love, Poggio's.
The ambiance is great inside and outside. The sidewalk seating is kept comfortable with great heaters. Inside has the most comfortable seats and benches in a very comfortable wood paneled setting reminiscent of a wine cellar. Unless you're at the large table where distance is the issue, sound is no problem here.
The food has always been special here. There has been nothing that I have had that I would grade below very good. We shared a Margharita Pizza (thin Venetian style), the Porterhouse (the tenderloin melted in your mouth), mashed potatoes, brocollini, and spinach sides, and one of us had the Francobolli (2"x2" agnolotti stuffed with fonduta, a melted 3-cheese delight, and snap peas, artichokes, and pine nuts). All of it was memorable. Then, of course, dessert: a Pot de Creme, Creme de Limon (a truly heavenly true lemon chantilly covered with meringue cracklings and pistachio bits), Bunet De La Nonna (an intense coffee/hazelnut mousse with a refreshing syrup running through it, and hazelnut bits), and a complimentary signature Tiramisu for my friend's birthday.
The service is always accommodating, friendly, and perfectly un-imposing.
Great porterhouse or Bisteca. Very good service and cozy ambiance
All of the above!
Poggio- a gem! Consistently good. Love their small dishes.
We were surprised with the service -- slow and awkward -- and the food was not as good as usual.
delicious & not pretentious. love the italian wine selection
We have never had such amazing and accommodating service...it made the amazing food taste even better!
Waitress Debbie and barkeep Tony excellent. Roast chicken superb.
Service by Kat was excellent. The food was delicious and we had a wonderful experience overall. Always love coming to Poggios!
