Plumeria Beach House
The restaurant is lovely and our waitress was spot on. The cost was outrageous for the quality and amount of food. I remember coming for the buffet 5 years ago and it was superb. I can see $18/glass of wine but coffee for $5.00 and a glass of club soda for $5.00? I’m not surprised to have found the restaurant almost empty.
I was really looking forward to the buffet and was disappointed. Unfortunately I won’t be returning.
Here for restaurant week and excited as a first timer to such a well-known property. Service was slow. Waiter's timing was not the best. Restaurant was almost empty when we sat. Took a while to be greeted by him and had to repeat ourselves a couple times when ordering. Overhead him at service station not knowing how to ring up the restaurant week special. Drinks came out after a long wait - side note that he took away drink menu when we first ordered the drink, not a good move as that's where a lot of up selling potentially comes from. Lime in drink was old as it was browning around the cut sides of wedge. Bread service but no bread and butter plates/knives? First course beet salad was great. Kobucha soup needed more flavor. We were still enjoying the first course and he comes out with our entrees... so they were placed on the table left out to get cold? We felt like we had to rush our first course. Fish course was good. Sauce was great. Steak was mediocre. Sauce for fish would've tasted better. Unseasoned potatoes and a side of warm lettuce? Not sure how that pairing happened. We finished our drinks and never offered another let alone cleared from the table. Dessert was great as well. When presented with the check, we noticed it only included our drinks so this went back to him not knowing how to ring up the special. He didn't even review before presenting the check. We felt rushed when he tried collecting payment. This left a sour taste as we just wanted to sit and enjoy the view. Very disappointing
Plumeria House never fails me. Always top quality. If you want to impress guests, whether local or not, bring them here. Beautiful scenery, terrific service and top notch food.
The only drawback may be NO AIR CONDITIONING
Really wonderful food and the service was great too...
For an upscale restaurant I was disappointed to find things like salad dressings, dried ahi were not made inhouse. Bottled ceasar dressing with additives? Everyone these days is trying to eat healthier. Kahala, you can do better.
Very enjoyable and pleasant experience. Our attendant Ty? made sure of it.
Food was very good. Ambiance was great - open to the views of beach, pool, etc. It's Hawaii and a five star hotel! Wouldn't be anything else, would it? Loved it.
Specifically went to check out the curry buffet offered on Wednesday’s. They offer 3 types of curries with some condiments to pair with the curries. A small salad selection, soup, bread and lots of dessert options. Service was excellent. The view was gorgeous as well. Nice place to have a quiet lunch.
Friday Seafood Buffet was worth the price. Excellent service. Very nice evening.
Great food and service! Thank you! I will definitely recommend to my friends.
Excellent service and great food. Will definite come again
Great service & scrumptious food!
We had our last dinner at the Plumeria Beach House. Food was amazing and staffs were extremely friendly and kind. We had a wonderful time!
The food and setting were amazing however service was a bit slow. Great for when you are on vacation and should relax and go slow but not so good when you need to get back to work...
Nice atmosphere, the presentation was pleasant, bento box was very tasty.
Great food. Service on point. Beautiful ocean view..
Seafood buffet was amazing. We sat near the bar which was noisy and moved the table away for more quiet. Liquor prices were high. Enjoyed seeing the dolphins in the lagoon and walking the grounds before dinner
Food was good but there has been more variety in the past. It’s a “curry buffet” but I think there should be other foods available because it is a ’buffet.” Service was excellent.
Receiving an email from Open Table stating that we did not honor our reservation was very unfortunate and insulting.
We have been coming here for more than ten years - each time we visit Oahu (and my parents before that). We love sitting outdoors, enjoying a casual meal, watching the stunning ocean and always having a lovely experience. The dolphins, turtles and tropical fish are a bonus.
Our lunch was made perfect by our server who always knew when to come and check in on us. The gentle winds with the energy of the ocean in the distance created a wonderful ambience. Our dishes were fresh and light just as we expected. One of the best places to relax and refresh with lots of healthy choices.
Good food with friendly, helpful service makes for a great dining experience.
The Plumeria Beach House is a lovely, quiet setting. The service was very good, and we were attended to by 2 or 3 wait staff. The food was very good. I had the Butterfish which I highly recommend and my husband had the vegetarian option which was also very good. Overall, we had a lovely dining experience.
Completely disappointed with our latest experience. Entertaining guests from Japan and their noodles were literally in a solid block and broth was cold. My son’s burger from the children’s menu was raw - we had to send back. Broke my heart to see him so hungry while he patiently waited for them to re-make his burger.
View is why we come, but they re-arranged tables for a large and rowdy party between us and the view.
We have come here a few times for special occasions and always encounter some rookie issues, but we always gave them the benefit of the doubt that it might have been an “off night”.
After this latest experience, it is time we accept that this really is a poorly run business and despite the beautiful view, it is time to celebrate and spend our $$$$ somewhere else.
Went for the seafood buffet. I would not return. There are much tastier options in Waikiki and at the four seasons in koolina. Sushi rice was bland as if they forgot to add mirin. Tasted like it came out of the rice cooker. Extremely limited sushi. Only 3 nigiri, 1 roll, and inari. Only 1 type sashimi.. Prime rib was good. No oysters. Only snow crab which was not good. Very good salads. Good deserts. Was not offered ice tea or coffee post meal.
Always a memorable lovely place to dine by the sea.
We went to celebrate a birthday. We chose this day because of their Seafood Buffet.
It's excellent. All the entrees were delicious. Will definitely go back again.
My fish perfectly prepared (butterfish)
They tried to turn us away because They ‘’no longer’’ accept breakfast reservations.
Service was excellent, but the variety of seafood ( especially if it’s a seafood buffet) was very limited. No fresh oyster or scallops. Lots of fish, but you can get that at Tamashiro Mkt. probably will think hard if I decide to do this again
Always special ... laid back elegant ambience... seafood buffet best on the island
Whilst the environment and atmosphere were nice, the service was almost non- existent. They bought wine to our table, no glasses and left the wine in the ice bucket unopened.
The food was really lovely however the front of house really let the kitchen down.
They had only 8 tables and 4 wait staff so really no excuse for the poor service.
Each time we asked for service (extra butter, wine, our check) we waited an unreasonable amount of time.
I was reminded by a friend that the same thing had happened the last time we dined at the Kahala hotel. The food was the best part of our experience- the overall experience was disappointing
Celebrating a 65th birthday with brunch on the beach. Waitress was a little slow.
The atmosphere is great. Of course with outdoor dining sometimes it can be warm, which it was. The food was good. I hat the street tacos with the mahi-mahi. The fish could have used a bit more flavor but it was still good and how can you complain with the fantastic views?
