Very good experience. Rack of lamb was cooked perfectly. Crab bisque was good. Had a nice evening.
This has been our 3rd visit in the past 3 months. We are big fans of the food,, wish it was a little cheaper but clearly we pay it :-) We had a big group for my Birthday, the server was running around crazy giving us amazing service so thank you very much! There were a few missed items but they so graciously took care of it for us and we we Clearly be back!
We took my Mom for her 80th birthday. It was a great dining experience. Requested a table by front windows to overlook city & that request was met. The food was excellent! My Mom is still talking about how good it was. Service was excellent also. Love this restaurant. Will definitively return time after time.
Our waiter was busy but attentive to our needs. The food was great and my steak was well cooked. A bit too salty so I had to mix it with the potatoes. My lovely wife enjoyed the medallions. It is going to cost you plenty.
always excellent service and attentive staff. The best steak in town; including the greater KC area!
Our waiter was very good. We started with excellent service but by the time we got to the desserts and check - it went slow. He advised that another waiter had taken his dessert, so had to resend it. AND - think that it got busy, so the service slowed down.
The food was delicious. The restaurant is really pretty - and the bar area is spectacular. Even the bathrooms were nice. :)
Always enjoy Piropos. We live north of Kansas City and have season tickets at the KC Symphony. Piropos is the perfect location for dinner before the concert. Great menu selections and always well prepared. Extensive wine list. Superb service. We've been coming to Piropos for a decade and hope to continue for many more years.
They ignore or don’t care about what you write when a reservation is made.
Specifically requested with long lead time to reserve window table for significant birthday.
Sadly even server tried to apologize
Manager could care less
So to the diner beware
Excellent food and service!
Disappointed this time. The best part of the dinner was the view from our table. The wine was also very nice. My steak was mediocre as was one of my guests. I felt my filet was stringy. Our waiter took our order and we did not see him again until he asked us if we wanted dessert.--actually he did deliver our empanadas. Thought about ordering a salad after the waiter walked away and that may have helped our review. We all commented that he just seemed to be absent throughout the meal. We did enjoy our time at the bar as the wait staff/bar tenders there were busy but 'present'. I had taken my friends there as they had never been there and I was most anxious to show them this great restaurant. Sadly they were not impressed.
This visit was not up to the standards I have come to expect of Piropos. The server was not unfriendly or really bad, but definitely not ready for a high end restaurant. We had appetizers and had barely taken two or three bites when she brought our entrees. My food and one of the other companions was fine, but the third person in our party, did not finish the salmon because it was dry. We also had to ask for lemon for the salmon. I didn't finish the chocolate mousse dessert (one of my favorites) and instead of putting it in a cup or better container, she scooped it out and dropped in it in the box upside down with the topping and wafers on the bottom of the container. Not particularly appetizing. I won't drop Piropos from my list of favorite places - I have dined many times there over the years (beginning in Parkville) and almost always choose it for a birthday or special occasion but this visit was disappointing.
Pricey but delicious. As expected for an Argentine steak house, the beef was excellent, but the seafood was equally good; salads, soup, and appetizer empanadas were also excellent. The wine list included wines by the glass from Argentina such as a Torrontes and a couple of Malbecs; one of our party enjoyed a strawberry basil cocktail. We had a window table with a view of the downtown skyline in the evening light. Definitely worthwhile for a special occasion.
Food was wonderful.
Beautiful menu, beautiful wine, beautiful view, beautiful service
Outstanding food, wonderful view, excellent servers. Price not cheap, but not super high either. With a salad, glass of wine or drink, and dessert, will run $75-100/person. We found the service a bit "deliberate" but we were enjoying conversation with some friends, so actually appreciated the opportunity to eat and talk at a leisurely pace. I had the "special" which included swordfish in lemon butter, Bacon wrapped (very large) scallops, with risotto and broccolini. Absolutley terrific. Swordfish prepared so very tender, not mealy or tough. Scallops also terrific, and perfectly cooked. Plenty large portions, so I had a chance to enjoy some for lunch the next day too! Empanada appetizers were good, but didn't "wow" us like the entrees. Others at table enjoyed Salmon and Steak, both of which looked very good also. If you can manage it, try the Churros dessert with vanilla bean ice cream and chocolate ganache. Churros were soft inside (caramel filling), slightly crunchy outside, nice cinnamon coating. Others said they'd try a bite after I twisted their arms (said they were not interested in dessert). After they took 1 bite, they couldn't help sharing more of it. Great sweet treat, and plenty large to share with 2-3 others.
Michael and Jenn have that bar under control - top notch drinks and service. Couldn't ask for anything more! Our favorite happy hour spot thank to them.
My wife and I have had an issue that we have to ask for things to get them. At the bar, we don’t get the bar menu that affords different options. Also, we’ve had to ask for bread. Please do everything you can to make the customer happy by having all of the options and being served appropriately. The food I ordered was a bit over sauced. I mentioned that to our bartender/server. I didn’t finish it and won’t. This was the first experience that I have had that I was disappointed with Piropos. I normally provide four and five stars. I hope that I won’t be disappointed again. Before I stop...please bring back the original crab bisque the way it is meant to be, thicker and tastier. As of late, it has been thinner, like broth, and less tasty. Thanks for hearing me out.
Everything you could expect for a special occasion dinner was our experience at Piropos. Appetizers were exceptional (the empanadas are a must), salads were crisp, cold with a beautiful assortment of fresh veggies, and the entrees were both absolutely fabulous. I had the mixed seafood grill that was perfectly prepared and beautifully presented and my wife had the filet that was cooked to perfection. Because we were celebrating our anniversary our server provided us with a complimentary flan to share that was the perfect ending to our meal. Our server was friendly without being overly intrusive and was always there just when we needed him. We will always keep this at the top of our list of special occasion restaurants.
We go to Piropos occasionally, i.e., not often enough. They never disappoint. From the bread and spreads (love the garlic!) To soups and salads and then entrees, everything is made well and are meant to enjoy. Finally, you'll be wise to finish your meal with a churro. So delicious!
Food was good as usual, although the shrimp were small for an appetizer dish. Do miss the open deck, and the rotting would balcony should have been fixed before they enclosed the deck; as well as the windows should open. Service was a little mixed this time which is why I did not give it my usual 5 star rating.
Second time at Piropos. First time loved it so we decided to invite friends. Nice decor and view from the patio. Staff is attentive and friendly. The menu seems to be authentic but we tried the cheese wheel (provoleta) and it wasn't what we expected. Empanadas were good! Food took a little longer but our table was of ten.
Phenomenal all around! Can't go wrong with the menu and cocktails!
Have been there several times and never disappointed.
We had a young child with us and I was concerned about him being about to "adjust" to the atmosphere; allowing us to enjoy our gathering but not interfere with anyone else's night out. It worked out beautifully! Our server, Jake, was awesome and make great accommodations for our young dinner. We felt welcome and was able to enjoy a wonderful evening out! Our compliments to Jake!! He is a wonderful server.
Folks, Everything was great at this restaurant and everyone in my party really enjoyed the evening.
If you want my feedback and one suggestion; when you charge a corkage fee once I expect that charge to open my wine. But when I have a second bottle opened and receive a second corkage fee charge for the second bottle I think that’s a little much. Especially after we’ve spent several hundred dollars on food at your restaurant. If I return to this restaurant in the future I’ll only open one bottle of wine.
Another option is to go to other restaurants in town of the same caliber and pay one corkage fee for several bottles and one corkage fee or even no corkage fee.
You may want to rethink you policy especially when I offer my waiter a glass of wine he’s serving us.
First I have to mention that the food was excellent. A nice selection, expertly prepared, and beautifully plated. The service, however, left our stomachs a bit sour.
We had reservations, we arrived, and were seated in a nice booth. Then we waited for 15-20 minutes before I finally approached the hostess and let them know we had yet to see a server. They apologized and immediately sent someone over to fetch our drinks. The server was nice enough, but made excuses about how he wasn't sure if our table was in his section, which is a HUGE failure on the floor manager's part. Once we finally ordered our entrees, it took a estimated tortoise-life to receive them. It was actually about 30 minutes, but I know I had much longer, greyer hair by the time I was eating. As stated earlier, the food was amazing! Being gluttons for punishment, we hesitantly chose to order dessert. Again, in record-breaking, desert-crossing time, we received our deserts. I actually toned it and it took 22 minutes to plate up 2 desserts and shuttle them out to us.
The entire meal took almost two and a half hours, which was about an hour and a half longer than I was willing to invest in a meal.
Great food and a beautiful view. We were pleasantly surprised by our final bill.
Fantastic dinner and service!
Excellent service and great food, along with the general ambience made it a memorable experience.
Piropos is the very best elegant restaurant in North KC. Their service is second to none, and the wine selection is extensive. The appitizers are delicious.
Entres include great steak, seafood, and chicken selections with available seafood add-ons to the steaks as well. My wife and I truly enjoy this gem and will definately return.
Awesome my daughters 23 Birthday. Excellent steaks
Just the best place to take clients
Food and service was great. Would highly recommend the restaurant.
Our whole meal was perfect, Hector went above and beyond to make sure our anniversary was special!!!
Went here for our anniversary and the food was fantastic, the wait staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and polite. We will definitely be returning!
Birthday..it was a great meal and service was pretty good. Took a while to get drinks/refills. View wasn’t very good as we were in a booth, but food was yummy.
Our first time eating at Piropas. Food and service were excellent.
Excellent food and knowledgeable staff
My husband and I had a reservation for 8:30pm. Upon arrival, we were told that they were running a little behind, but we were welcome to have a drink at the bar while we wait. How kind, a drink on our own dime while we wait. We ended up not being seated until 9:15. We had to call our babysitter to let her know we would be later, as well as pay her for the extra time. We were hoping our experience would turn around once we were seated. Our waiter did not greet us or introduce himself. He abruptly asked if we knew what we wanted. His anxious demeanor definitely soured our already unsavory experience. We felt very rushed. We wanted to love Piropos, but it didn’t happen for us.
