This place is absolutely wonderful for any occasion
Waited more than 5 minutes for wait staff to come to table. Did not introduce himself. Took drink order, with me pointing to & saying my selection of Dunham Riesling, from the White wine section. Spouse & I had same thing. Sometime later, waiter brought 2 glasses of CHAMPAGNE & zipped off. It took a while to get his attention, & of course I was unable to call him by his name, he didn't give it! His response to error was, "There may have been misunderstanding." When I told him order was 2 glasses Dunham Riesling, he was sheepish, as he realized HIS mistake. He did recover nicely by returning full champagne glasses to us saying, "I'll let you enjoy these while I get your wine."
Later, when entrees arrived, I had to ask for lemon wedges for our fish. That request was filled in timely manner.
Just had their Sunday brunch... great food and service.
The food did not live up to the price. My daughters entree was too sweet. My entree was cold. The desserts were not good
What can I say, It's Pier W, one of the finish places to eat in the Cleveland area, first it has a lock on location, very little comes close, sitting on a bluff on the lake over looking the city, magnifique. The service was top notch, and the food was fabulous. My wife and I enjoy fine dinning often and Pier W is at the top of our list. Enjoy everyone.
Celebrating a birthday, food and service were excellent. Our table was ready at the reserved time with no waiting. The piano added just the right ambiance. It was the perfect place to celebrate during the holidays.
One of the hostesses at the front desk was not welcoming at all. Also there was a heater behind the hostess stand and it was blazing hot in the waiting area. Really no seating so it was awkward and uncomfortable while waiting for our seats. Our reservation was for 6:30 and we were about 10 minutes early but unfortunately had to stand and wait until 6:40 to be seated.
FORTUNATELY the food and service during our meal was amazing and it made the overall experience great.
Great view of the lake. Service was fantastic! Food was great!
I thought for the cost of the dinner the value just was not there. The food was less than stellar, nothing specifically wrong, but when you’re paying over $150.00 for a dinner for 2 I would expect the meals to be memorable.
I wouldn’t recommend anyone to this restaurant.
Excellent atmosphere. Our server was pleasant and friendly. Food was awesome. Pianist was great !!
This is normally a top notch spot but we hit our server on an off night. To be fair the place was packed. It was a very special night for us- my hubby’s 50th and our server was slow to come to table, slow with drinks and refills, never told us specials and forgot my dessert coffee. Nothing huge but lots of little blips that took away from relaxing into a fabulous meal. She was very pleasant and
perhaps was juggling too many tables and not able to deliver on service.
"I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. IM definitely going back
Pier W is our "go-to" place for special occasions, such as anniversaries and lunch with friends. The decor reminds me of the dining room of a cruise ship, with huge windows overlooking the lake. The wait staff is cordial without being over-bearing. The fish is freshly prepared and all of the meals are so delicious. My friends have been here for happy hour and have said that it is wonderful!
The salmon is the best! The restaurant was very busy, but our server was great and did not miss a step. The view is amazing, even on a dreary day.
Sunday Brunch with everything you expect and everything delicious.
Wonderful atmosphere and service overlooking Lake Erie. Great sea food as well as the pork chop.
Romantic. Ambience. Just fabulous.
Ambiance, service, food were all excellent. Do not need fifty characters.
One of our favorite places and never disappoints
Great location, food & atmosphere. There was live piano music on Saturday night. Just don't check your hat with your coat! When the coat check girl brought my coat back, I told her I had a hat also. After she went back to find it, I put my coat on & found my hard felt fedora, stuffed in my sleeve! It is not a flexible crusher hat, although it was certainly crushed. That put a damper on an otherwise pleasant evening.
Love this restaurant, food and service have always been good for us. Menu and pictures are online, its such a neat restaurant the way its on a cliff and your lakeview.
Food was delicious. Priced reasonably. Great ambiance
Go-to place for special occasions or with people from out of town. Wonderful food and service, with a great view of downtown over the lake.
Great good - great service and nice wine list
A little pricey but seafood always fresh and
Service always excellent
Good wine list
Excellent service, food and view!
Had the best table in the restaurant, corner window seat with a spectacular view.
Food was outstanding, couples with RYANNE our server, who is really top notch . Made our fine dining experience wonderful - our favorite restaurant.
Food , ambiance, location and service cannot be outdone !!
Our server was very caring and pleasant to work with.
This was the first time we went to Pier W and actually had some items from brunch that were not top notch. My daughter and I had the Eggs Benedict it was hard on the bottom and raw in the egg couldn’t eat it. My daughter tried again and still couldn’t eat it. There were a few other things this way but that one stuck out in my head, because I love Eggs Benedict and couldn’t eat it. Oh my daughter also said the prime rib was off. We were there for my hubbys birthday. He had the seafood and said everything was great in that regard. But the amount of empty dishes on brunch buffet is unacceptable and our server didn’t check on us enough, had to look for her, unacceptable for this price bracket.
I've frequented Pier W several times and have always loved it but on this occasion was somewhat disappointed.
While treating my son to dinner (who was home from the military), we immediately noticed that the water glasses had a strong fishy odor, which forced me to order the mango iced tea. The iced tea wasn't sweet at all and tasted mainly like cardboard (from the straws).
We also had to wait approximately 10-15 minutes before being seated even though we had reservations. We noticed three other parties waiting as well.
On a more positive note, our waiter was extremely friendly, attentive and helped to make our dining experience more pleasurable.
We went to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. It was perfect start to finish. They even have menus titled happy anniversary. Nice touch.
The views are great. The service was fantastic. The food was perfection.
Another fabulous evening. Service and food were incredible. Always happy with PW!
Great service! Great food! We will be back!
Service has been lacking in cleveland in general our server and server support at pier w was amazing thanks for a great evening !!
wonderful meal, service, ambiance. we will do this again, soon.
We had a very enjoyable evening. The food was delicious and our waitress was very attentive.
Perfect night at Pier W. We very much enjoyed the atmosphere, food, view, and service. The food was superb. The chef and service staff were very accommodating to my fiance's dietary restrictions, and she thoroughly enjoyed the Simply Prepared Seafood. I found the pistachio crusted trout to be exquisite. Great jazz pianist played during dinner, which was tasteful both in song selection and noise level. Not to mention, the view was wonderful looking over the water, especially with a bright moon out that evening. Highly recommend Pier W to any one wishing to make their night special with the special person in their life.
I had oysters which were a good selection of 3 types from across the country, we tried all 3. they were all very good. we also had a crab cake appetizer which was excellent and offered a plentiful amount of crab. for lunch I went with the Salmon sandwich accompanied by slaw. both were great. this was a family lunch, the staff was very accommodating of our leisurely pace, which was appreciated. all in all a great place to entertain out of town guests. it really shows Cleveland from a unique perspective.
Sadly a big disappointment...this is our 4th year coming here for Thanksgiving and definitely our last. First 3 years we enjoyed but this year fell very short. We travel a great distance to come visit our daughter and son-in-law and enjoyed taking them to dinner here.
Failure right from the start as our table was wasn’t ready and we were seated 35 minutes late, next we order appetizers and wine and one of them came out wrong, no big deal accidents happen but we waited another 15 minutes for the correct appetizer. Next comes the meal,
I ordered the turkey dinner special as I always do and instead of the usual sliced turkey I got a pile of pieces/scraps and a big chunk of turkey fat, also the portion was much less than the previous years.
Shortly after my wife ordered her dinner the waitress came over and said they ran out of the vegetable she chose so she picked another and when they finally brought her dinner they said, oh sorry we don’t have the second side you ordered so my wife politely said, no problem I’ll be fine with just this. My daughter ordered the stuffed shrimp which were embarrassingly small and also with a vegetable that was changed.
Then comes dessert, we all ordered except me as my $45 turkey dinner came with a choice of pie, I chose the pumpkin pie and again a huge failure. The pie must have been pre-cut to save time and it was hard to miss, it looked like it had been sitting out and the crust that should have been flaky and crisp was soggy like rubber.
I rarely write reviews but this place is not cheap and when you spend $500 for dinner and wine you expect and deserve much much better. We eat out a lot and I never mind paying as long as the food and service are commensurate with the bill. Bottom line, this is unacceptable for an upscale restaurant and management needs to get their act together. Possibly an off night for them but unfortunately I had to express my true feelings.
Even on a Thanksgiving day, the menu was diverse. We started off with some West Coast Oysters, Hood Canal, that were amazingly fresh. Their fish dishes are always high class and the salmon my wife had was very moist adding to the flavor. My grouper, simply prepared, was delicious, but the root vegetable that accompanied the dish was dry and hard. My pre-dinner Manhattan was excellent and the wine, by the glass, was terrific. Don't hesitate to ask for a suggestion. The sommelier on duty chose a great Cabernet for me and it was very tasty. Billy our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive, with the rest of the staff in support doing a very admirable job. Some of the best views of Cleveland can be seen through their expansive windows and we are happy to have them as a neighbor, since we live right next door and can walk over easily from the Meridian. Considering it was Turkey Day and very busy, we still had a great dinner and appreciate all for making it so enjoyable.
