Great views. Unique experience. Prices are good.
A nice location to sit and enjoy the harbor. Good selection of food too!
Great food! Great location and ambiance. Sub par service especially for the price.
Great location right on the bay. At 4:30 we walked right in with no wait. They had a great variety of food on the menu and it was okay, but for the price the portions were very small. They would not substitute anything for my kids. Not a huge deal, but a little annoying.
Service was a bit slow but it had just opened..
Two orders missing …offered a wrong items ..portion small for the price …drinks not being refilled ! Not so friendly staff !
Server was very nice and pleasant. He had way to many tables assigned to him. Should have been better staffed. Saw 2 other servers standing around for 5-6 minutes. Finally able to get their attention. One item ordered calamari was soooo tough chewy. Our waiter took off the menu. Did not wish to get a replacement of the calamari. We ordered bowl of clam chowder which cost almost as much as calamari. Have eaten here before and definitely remembered better quality food. Great view of San Diego Bay.
It was busy but our waiter wasn’t good. The food was very pricey but not a lot of flavor and was cold by the time we got it
Had the Seafood Pasta. You'd think for $25 you'd get a salad or a roll with this, you'd be wrong. The "Seafood" was 5 lonely shrimp in a sad bowl of overcooked fettucine. There were no scallops at all nor any other seafood.
Love the ambience, food and service. Regardless of where you sit, there is always an ocean view.
Great spot! loved the music and the location. Perfect SD vibe
Food was terrible. Basically craft Mac and cheese with some cold lobster mixed in.
Great setting, good food, great service. Miss the fried pickles appetizer though. The burger was over-cooked but was corrected immediately. Definitely returning again.
Delicious food, great views, and awesome atmosphere! Definitely a must when visiting San Diego
Also Ordered lobster roll, this’s a tourist restaurant, nice view but food is alright. Wouldn’t come back for a $24 lobster roll like this. Very busy, service is bad
This was amazing! The crab cakes are delicious! I loved sitting by the window and watching the ships come in.
Took forever for our server to take our order, then she showed up after our appetizer was served and tried to give us the bill…we hadn’t even gotten our dinner. She never showed back up until the very end, never checked on us. It was loud and the food was so lackluster. Seriously worst dining experience I have ever had.
The service wasn’t the best all the waitresses were really rushed and just wanted us to leave the atmosphere was very bad the seating was terrible and very pricey not worth it at all!!! It felt like they were doing us a favor by feeding us ridiculous
We were tourists from out of town visiting San Diego. We picked Pier Cafe because it was the only available seaside seafood restaurant to make a reservation for a day in advance. I had read the reviews, and didn’t expect the greatest experience. We asked for outdoor seating and we were given a table by the window with a spectacular view. We ordered the chips salsa and guac for $14, which was really expensive for the serving size but the salsa and guacamole was pretty tasty. We also ordered the lobster mac & cheese which tasted bland and had to add salt and pepper to it. The clam chowder bread bowl was pretty good and ended up sharing that with my table because the other dish was incredibly underwhelming and double the price . After 20 minutes of waiting for someone to take my check I had to find somebody so we could finally leave. All in all paid a large amount of money for a great view and subpar food, which was my expectation going in.
Great food, service snd views of the San Diego bay!!
Fantastic experience from start to finish!
waited 10 minutes just to get our drink order taken
Service was terrible. The waiter forgot drinks and never came back until the food was ready. The food was also mediocre at best.
We enjoyed the virws
In my opinion they should offer you some snack or chips while they are preparing your order.
The food was
Birthday. Location perfect. Service fair and food fair.
Very busy day and once our waitress took drink orders, the wait was long. We asked for water and never got any. Overall, a nice place and food was good. Would recommend improving service time so you can move tables quicker
Seated promptly and beautiful panoramic views!
Had a reservation but still had to wait in long line to be seated. I called and was told to continue waiting in line even tho everyone else had no reservations from what I observed. Service was slow.. I only had clam chowder but it was way too bland and light.
A meal with a view -- basically what we were looking for, and they nailed it! We had a corner table with views of the waterfront on all sides. The staff was good, especially in these challenging times for the hospitality industry. The knocks in scoring come from a very limited menu (food and beer) that made you feel like you were paying just for the view. The tacos and calamari were fine-to-good, but we didn't leave feeling like we needed to ever come back or to recommend to friends. Don't regret it, but won't be returning.
Sadly, I was not impressed. Mind you, I grew up in San Diego and years ago, I worked at Seaport Village for over 13 years. I had always heard excellent things about Pier Cafe and finally, I had the opportunity to dine there. Service was lacking. I asked for two clean plates with the staff never returning with clean plates. The calamari was skimpy, cheaply made as with the seafood pasta which seemed to all come from a can. The only nice thing about the whole experience was the view. But for the amount I paid, you can enjoy the same view from the boardwalk…and it’s free!
Pier Cafe was always a gem of a location. Had dinner there on 6/30/2021. The menu has been significantly altered. The restaurant used to have a seafood theme. It's not really clear what theme it has nowadays.
However, I was very disappointed with the plating presentation and the overall quality of the food. I have seen plates at Denny's that looked better. Service was mediocre, we had to ask for silverware a couple of time after our food arrived.
Good food, quick service. Waitress was not attentive
Great seafood spot right on the water in San diego.
Location is nice and great views of the water. Food and service is pretty mediocre
We enjoyed the ambiance. The service and food was excellent.
Food is always amazing, as are the views! Service is great and there is never a wait.
The food was excellent. Our waitress was awesome.
