Perfect sunny day, great food and drink. Already planning our next visit.
We’re new to the Bay Area but have been to this restaurant a few times and it has never disappointed! I whole heartedly recommend the lobster Mac n cheese! It’s AMAZING! And the fish and chips taste like the fish was freshly caught an hour ago! Cannot reccomended this place enough!
Beautiful setting with impeccable ambiance. The back porch at Pier 23 is a special treat. Food is very good and reasonably priced considering the venue. Very peaceful. A must visit for a lunch on a sunny San Francisco day.
Pier 23 - fun bar, live music, shared two appetizers and soup- plenty and tasty!
We go to this restaurant monthly. I was horrified at the delay in getting our food. I understand they were short staffed and didn't have a specials menu, only the brunch menu. That was OK. But for a party of 8, one person's food order was wrong. It took 45 minutes to redo a plain chicken sandwich with cheese. When we asked to speak to the chef, I was shocked that he disagreed with us. We looked at our watches. The 7 other people finished their meal and still the sandwich had not arrived. And they had the nerve to put it on the bill! As we frequent this place a lot, I've never had that experience, but it happens. But the chef's behavior and attitude was completely unprofessional and ridiculous.
Visiting from Phoenix. Mac & cheese was amazing. So was the shrimp sandwich. Excellent food!
Went there to listen to some great music, and was served a creative, flavorful broth full of shellfish. My server was blessed with good hearing.
Always very slow and inattentive service. The food is okay. You are paying to sit out near the water. Other than that not much to recommend here. I work nearby and there aren't very many options in the neighborhood.
My table was waiting for me upon arrival with my name printed on the reservation tag . The staff was very welcoming and professional and efficient as usual.
Keep up the great work !!!
Great restaurant for the best fish and chips!! Also, pets are allowed on the patio section of the restaurant.
Very fresh fish and chips. Bloody Mary’s and fresh sour dough bread. Nice casual lunch
We always enjoy a lunch at Pier 23 when we visit San Francisco. I love the crab and shrimp salad and have ordered it each time we've gone. My husband has tried several other entrees and they have all been wonderful. The service can be a little slow for refilling drinks, but the food always comes out pretty fast.
We had crabcakes, Chowder, fish & chips, and mussel & clams. They are all delicious. For a casual place the service is like a formal establishment. Would recommend for sure.
Love to make sure I make a stop at Pier 23 Café each time I am in SF. Staff is always awesome, great music and consistently good food!
The main attraction of Pier 23 is location-view-ambiance with decent comfort food and service. They could improve their menu with the following (1) more options for vegetarians (there are practically none; (2) drop the pizza , its awful and this establishment does not have the facility for making decent pizzas.
We started coming to Pier 23 30 years ago when they had some great local musicians. The live music is not so great now and not the attraction for coming.
This seems to be an off the beaten path spot in the perfect location. Just West of the Ferry Building, but quieter with tremendous old San Francisco charm. Our server, Dean, was friendly and efficient. The food, especially the chowder, was scrumptious. The patio, with transparent walls, made for perfect enjoyment of the boats and ships of San Francisco Bay. Very high quality food and charming environment for a reasonable price. I love this place!
This is usually a favorite of ours and we go specifically for the whole roasted Dungeness every year for my birthday. However, this has been the third year in a row that there hasn't been whole roasted crab. The season is in full swing yet they didn't have it. I have now learned to call before we go, as we drive two hours to get there! It was a real disappointment.
I wasn’t expecting the live Honky Tonk music and that made it an adventure. Service was fast, friendly. I gave 4 stars because the guacamole sucked (sorry Pier 23), but everything else amazing. Baked Hawaii was amazing (I think they put crack in it), the sole special with zucchini noodles sooo good. The shrimp and crab sandwich should have had the bread toasted and buttered - c’mon it was cheat night and i thought it was like a crab and shrimp roll. Fish n chips - delish, and the tuna (not quite poke) bowl was tasty as well. I recommend for drop-in. I was there with out towner’s fiends and they said, weird set up but great food and service is excellent.
The service was fine but the food was pretty mediocre and overpriced for what you got.
Pier 23 is consistently great all areas - food, service, good time. We make it a point to enjoy weekend brunch or lunch during Giants season and crab season.
