We had an awesome time...it was my friends first time and they love it ...
The main dining room was so loud you could not hold a conversation. The floor was extremely dirty. The food was average the mixed drinks I don’t recommend. There are better choices in San Antonio.
I made a reservation online. We arrived for our reservation and the hostess informed me I had no reservation. She then proceeded to tell me they were at capacity and there would be a wait either way but there was no reservation. I informed her I made the reservation online and she cut me off saying she had anything, and that there would be a wait because other people were there before me. I asked why they allowed reservations to be made online if they weren't honored. She started again with there was no reservation until I told her she was wrong and showed her my confirmation. She then asked my name is Sandra Foster, I replied yes and she said she found it but there would still be a 15 -20 minute wait. I intentionally remained up front while 3 parties were seated before we were. In exactly 19 minutes she did call my name and we were seated. We had a member in the party who had just arrived by plane and was quite tired and hungry also Diabetic. Also were trying to celebrate a birthday. We opted not to celebrate the birthday that night and wait until the next as we were just hungry at that point. On a positive note, we had a very good waiter and the food and service were great once we passed the threshold. Being a Customer Service Manager for over 25 years, you never tell a customer they are wrong. Especially when you don't know. It was disappointing. Put a damper on the evening. Our waiter however was so amazing my 9 year old grandson wanted to pay him $5 of his own money to tip him above what we were tipping.
This time there was an issue with our bill, i was charged for a tip that I did not leave on my card. I will usually leave cash for the tip. However I do want give kudos to the manager that looked into it & refunded the error. I Love this restaurant & even more that I use this app to book a table ahead of time.
I love going to this restaurant but hate the wait, I’m so happy I found this app now i can enjoy it more.
One of our favorite restaurants. We always bring out our of town guests here. I was highly disappointed this visit. We used Open Table online to 'reserve' our table. We selected the earliest available time of 830pm on Saturday night and it was 'reserved' at around 730pm. We arrived to be told that that is NOT a reservations and 'just a call ahead' and so we still have to wait about another 30 minutes! We would have driven in earlier if we'd known booking online was like doing nothing. We were told by the hostesss that she'd try to put us ahead of others, but then knew were were just being lied to as everyone sitting in the waiting area before us were all seated before us and the 'booking online' meant absolutely nothing. Then, my friend explained a wheat allergy, ordered a dish with corn tortillas, and again specified she wanted corn, not flour. Her meal came and all of us felt they looked and tasted like flour tortillas, the waiter insisted they were corn. She decided not to eat them for fear of an allergic reaction. Since we frequent this location, we saw a waiter we know and asked his opinion. Andrew was WONDERFUL as always and got a manager involved and JR brought out a new dish with apologies as they were indeed flour tortillas! I was embarrassed as the host of the group, no compensation was offered and I was shocked. LOVE Pericos, but why have open table if it's not used, and please be aware of special requests and teach new servers the difference between items (like flour vs corn). Thanks, we'll be back with a party with no allergies. :(
Food took along time to get out to table.
Great tasting meal and great service by Manny.
Our food was brought out quickly, hot and fresh. I guess I was a little disappointed that I made a reservation in advance, with a special note that we were celebrating a birthday. (The Birthday Person didn’t want me to say anything, so I tried to be sneaky...by noting it on the reservation.) The Hostess walked up to us, when we arrived...and I mentioned our noon reservation. It didn’t seem very important to her, and she didn’t bother to look at any special requests or notes, on our reservation. Needless to note, we ate and left without the Birthday Person, getting any recognition for their special day. That would be my only complaint. I do want to go back and try the delicious looking appetizers and drinks. Our Fajita Skillet (Beef, Chicken, Sausage, and Shrimp) arrived sizzling and delicious, to our table.
I had a friend visiting from Ohio
Had a wonderful meal with terrific service and amazing food. We will definitely be back.
Good food. Family friendly and great prices.
Long delay and the food wasn’t that great. A reservation should mean an actual reservation.
Even though we put in a reservation ahead of time, we were still seated 40 minutes after our reservation even though there were plenty of tables. We had to keep asking for an update. Otherwise we were basically ignored, even when asked how much longer it would be. They weren’t even that full or busy in the dining area.
Finally, we were offered a single rounded booth for all of us to squeeze into. As we were being seated, I noticed many empty tables not in use so I asked if we could just put together some of those empty tables. The hostess rolled her eyes, shrugged, and eventually agreed, though not without attitude.
Someone from our party ordered chicken and it came out very undercooked. It had to be sent back.
Best thing to come out of this place were the drinks (very good!) and the rest of our food was decent but it was such a chore to get seated and to have something as basic as chicken come out undercooked left us with an overall bad experience, which is a shame because we were really looking forward to eating there.
I would not recommend making “reservations” here. At the restaurant, they said, “we don’t do reservations-only call ahead seating”. That is NOT what this website stated.
Had reservations but got to the restaurant 45 mins early and was greeted by a smiling hostess. Informed her we had reservations and was seated immediately. Since it was Cinco de Mayo the place was a bit busy but not too crowded nor too noisy. Waitress was great, food was hot and delicious, drinks were cold, ambiance was perfect. Will definitely visit again in the near future.
Thank you to our waitress - Jessica she was awesome. And to the Bartender on duty my drink was magnificent!
Very good food and ambiance. A little disappointed in the service, waiter not too friendly. Also no music on a Friday night??!
I might recommend to a friend but not with the waiter we had. The service was sub-par, the food was good for the price. But one person in our group didn't get their plate until the rest were finished or almost finished with their food. We were constantly looking for our waiter, he wasn't friendly and when we requested a straw we were given one that was unopened and sitting on a napkin. The tables were sticky and we had to ask to have them wiped. The majority of the food was good some was just okay. The happy hour pricing and choices are good.
Great food, Great service. Food is always wonderful and the staff are outstanding. The wait staff are always friendly, courteous and prompt. We have never had one single complaint. They make dining out a pleasurable experience. When it comes to Mexican food - we go no where else.
As soon as we walked in we noticed the place feeling like an icebox. We were seated and had to wait awhile for our server who’s service was not bad. We told her a few times it was freezing in there. She mentioned she told the manager but we didn’t feel a change. I couldn’t enjoy my food or experience upon it being so cold.
Despite arriving a little earlier than our reservation time, we were seated immediately. Food arrived quickly after ordering and everything was tasty!! Great service from our waiter. Definitely a go to place!
Food was delicious and service was good. I highly recommend this place for special occasions.
Starting out, the hostess had no clue what to do with Open Table reservations. At least we got our points. We were seated at a huge table (table of two). Menu items were better than many similar restaurants. Service was okay,
Mariachis Monday evening. Fajita special for two...save $10. $3 happy hour house margaritas!
We were not seated at our reservation time.
I've been to this restaurant before. There always seems to be a wait, no matter when you show up. I use to think that was a sign that it was doing great business, but this last time we showed up, it was not very packed. After arriving, I checked in with the two people (a male in button up shirt and a woman in all black. I let them know I was there for an Open Table reservation and the man in the button up said my name out loud and I replied, "That's me." The reservation was for 7pm. We were not seated until nearly 720pm. When I asked the man in the button up why it had taken so long for us to be seated, he asked me who I spoke to. I looked at him and in a slightly annoyed tone, I said, "You. You and that girl in the black." He then pointed her out as she walked away and I confirmed it was her. He asked me again if he called my name (or if anyone did). I told him no. There was mild apologizing for it, but nothing else was said. After that, our server did a good job getting orders and coming back to make sure we were okay. I had no problem with our waiter. He was polite and courteous and made sure he followed through on the orders and our requests. The food was okay, nothing exciting and definitely not completely worth the price. My brother and sister in law had the mole with pollo. They both thought the mole tasted burnt. My flautas tasted good, but I was over the place. What made it even more irritating is that management did not attempt to come back and rectify their mistake in any way. That really stuck with me. The man who seated us was some kind of a manager and he just seemed like he was trying to catch me in a lie about when I arrived and who I spoke to. I've shown up twice to this place. I don't think I'll be returning.
Food and service was great! Seemed like the old Pericos.
Rough night, had to wait for our reservation at least 40 minutes. Was not organized at front, employees were to busy talking instead of taking care of customers. Food was good as always, service was not.
Pericos provides a pleasant dining experience. The food is really good, the service was good, the mariachis were great (contributed to the energy) but might make it difficult to have a conversation.
Sadly, this visit was pretty poor. We actually received better attention from the balloon and photographer visiting our table than our own server. Drink refills were lacking, and when the food came out to our table it was completely wrong for one of our party members. The server took forever to come back so that we could send it back, then when he finally came back, we had to wait for a long time to get another silverware set for our party. We were left sitting and waiting on things before we could all eat. Finally after all the proper plates arrived, our meals were all cold and two of our meals had a horrible burned taste to the meat. In the end, we actually received and settled the check faster than the entire experience with the meal.
The waiter was horrible. He did not give us chips & salsa. He did not bring lemons for my water until 4th reminder. The empanadas & tortillas were under cooked. The waiter served my husband sweet tea (he’s diabetic), after confirming twice that he wanted unsweetened tea. He took forever to bring the check. Horrible experience
Great food and service
Good tasty dinners; table in the patio - very comfortable; server seemed bored and uninterested but he took our order without writing it down - and got it all exactly right!
As out-of-town visitors we searched for a restaurant on the Northwest side of town and pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming and sufficiently attentive during meals. The margaritas were good though somewhat sweet for my taste. The favorite amongst hour entrees was the chicken enchilada with mole sauce. Two sides - the squash with corn and the poblano pepper dish - were also hits. The price for our meals was reasonable. We would definitely return to this restaurant again.
Server was not very attentive, but it looked like they may have been short staffed. He was still very nice. Food was good.
Great service. Server was very nice and prompt. Always touched base. Even the host was really nice. Good didn’t take long at all. It’s was out first time and will definitely be going back soon
Tortilla soup was cold and only had two small pieces of chicken. Definitely will not be back.
Great service, server was very attentive. I would definitely go again.
We were celebrating three birthdays, one of which was actually today. I put that in our special comments on here when booking the reservation but I feel like no one paid attention to it because they didn’t do anything for my son’s birthday; even after making a comment that it was his 21st birthday.
Using the Open Table app was great, we got there and there was a room full of people waiting we booked it about 7:50 p.m. for 8:15 and arrived at 8:16 we were seated next.
