Located at the Southwest corner of the restaurant, the private Cornet Room featuring two tables of 20, or 40 total guests, is the perfect location for a private reception to experience a chef's tasting menu.
There is truly no dining experience more satisfying than one spent at a private Chef's Table at the award-winning Penrose Room. Every detail has been given the utmost attention at the Chef's Table, from the hand-blown Grecian plates custom designed for each course to the individually created menus. With cooking and wine demonstrations for up to 16, guests are treated to an up close look at the chef in action, while the wrap-around balcony offers an irresistible setting for pre-dinner receptions or for sipping port after.
This was a very special evening for us being our 45th Wedding Anniversary. We were treated like Royalty. The wait staff was extremely attentive and responsive to our every need. Fine linens and crystal greeted us as we were seated. We then embarked on an adventure in dining. The staff made sure we had the best of everything and spent a lot of time explaining dishes and wines. We opted for the three course dinner but there is also a 5 course tasting dinner chosen by the chef for your pleasure. Each course was preceded with a small starter to prepare you for the course and the starters were almost better than the courses them selves. The table was reset with silver and plates required for the next course. It was enjoyable watching the wait staff as they were constantly in motion in very choreographed duties as they performed their duties for each of the diners. It was an evening that we will never forget. Oh, by the way. The food was superb. I had the cucumber gazpacho, the roast duck and the PP&J desert (a chocolate wonder). We had very simple tastes in wine but the Sommelier was available to help you with your selections. Everyone there was gracious and helpful. This evening was worth every penny.
Dinner was rushed. The food was very good with a chefs tasting. It presented several great dishes that were lost when the "slab of bacon on baked beans" was served. I expected a slow leisurely pace with a variety of fine small dishes. It was ok at best.
Needless to say, this was a superb meal in a singular atmosphere.
The chef and staff were in their elements this evening. The dinner had a light but complex flavor and texture. Each time our utensils left the plate was an adventure! The dining staff were well-informed and their hospitality was welcomed. I can think of nothing that could be realistically improved. Our special occasion was indeed special and we felt we had experienced a Colorado landmark.
We dined here recently while staying at the Broadmoor, and were hoping for a romantic couples dinner. The ambience was nice - there was a live jazz band playing. The food, however, fell short of our expectations. One of us ordered the octopus and it was so overdone it was inedible and had to be returned. The other courses were okay but not up to the standard that the restaurant claims it has. The service was acceptable but not comparable to the nice restaurants we've frequented in NYC. Overall, the very expensive meal and experience was disappointing.
Celebrated a very special occasion with my wife. It was the perfect environment and the food was excellent. Made the occasion memorable. Would highly recommend the Penrose Room for its charm and outstanding service.
Was by far the best food and dinning experience of my life! Everyone was so nice and attentive! They fully deserve the 5 star 5 diamond rating!
The Broadmoor lives up to its name. Ambiance is unsurpassed. Service is extraordinary.
Service was outstanding. We did the three course menu as we were not impressed with the evening's tasting menu. All of the food was delicious, but the squash appetizer and the main course duck breast are worth mentioning specifically! The sommelier recommended a wonderful wine that went perfectly with our food. If you are visiting from out of town, it's worth the stop. Decor is very antique, but it is still upscale. There was a nice piano and string duo playing and later a singer, so we were able to dance after dinner as well.
Foodies should avoid this restaurant. Poorly prepared - my bread roll was burnt, not an exaggeration - uninspiring, overpriced food of questionable quality. The wine list was nonexistent and the service was phoned in. When our pork main dish was brought out our server described a dish with ahi tuna. That sums up the evening.
The portion sizes of the protein items in the 7 course meals were very large. They'd have been good if we weren't getting 7 portions. Also, some of the accouterments didn't complement the dishes even though they may have looked nice on the plate. We didn't receive the attention to the wine service we'd hoped for and it turns out the sommelier either wasn't around or was unavailable during our dinner. Other than that lack of service, everyone else was very accommodating and friendly.
The Penrose Room service was everything we expected from a restaurant of this reputation. What was unexpected was the innovative food and menu. We had not realized that the Penrose Room had embraced the newer styles of creative cuisine - we were ready for old and stodgy.
We will be back
Yum! Yum! Elegant dining room, fabulous wine selection and delicious, creative food and soft live music. Great for a relaxing evening with friends when you have time to dine.
The wine was beyond overpriced. Service was good but we felt like they were hovering all the time. A 20% service charge was added. Whatever happened to the customer choosing how much to tip? It was a disappointing anniversary dinner.
Very nice place. Wonderful jazz, delicious food, great ambiance.
I am always dazzled by the food and service at The Penrose Room. This time, however, I was positively WOWED. My husband and I were celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary, and absolutely everyone made us feel special. A nice card awaited us at our cozy booth, every server stopped to congratulate us, and then there was that sweet slice of Happy Anniversary cake. Lovely!
The cocktails were tasty and wonderfully balanced, and the dishes were perfectly conceived, portioned, and executed. Bright and layered flavors, rich and beautifully plated.
Thank you so much - and see you next year!
A very mixed experience. Some of the food was really good, other courses were not. We were served a piece of pork roast that was downright tough and overcooked. The matched wines were nice, but not exceptional for an additional $60 per person. The wine server did not really elaborate on why those wines were chosen. Service just did not meet expectations for this caliber restaurant. Twice a server (the same server) asked my wife if he could bring her more wine as part of the matched wine tasting; twice he failed to deliver. Very disappointing for a meal that was over $300 per person.
Beautiful rooftop setting, excellent menu and wine pairing!
Everything was perfect as we expected and have been accustomed to for many years.
My husband and I visited the Penrose Room for dinner to celebrate a wedding anniversary. It was a wonderful evening of amazing food, fantastic service and an unrivaled elegance.
Celebrated our 30th anniversary. Great atmosphere, great food, great service!! It was N outstanding experience!!!!
Service was impeccable. The food was excellent, the portions being typical for this type of restaurant. When the question of which glad of wine to have with the main course, they brought both bottles for a taste. Great place for those special occasions.
Exceeded expectations and wait staff was phenomenal!
The Penrose Room is a very special place, fairly expensive but worth the expense once in a while. They now have a three course and five course menu. Each permit a fairly wide range of selections. The service is absolutely first rate. Most people dress very nicely, men have jackets on and no jeans. They had a small combo and singer entertaining during the meal which is very nice. Sure to create a favorable impression on almost anyone.
A great place to introduce an older child, 12 and up, to a fine dining experience. Would not recommend for younger children.
Great place for anniversary.
Just an amazing, magical evening. If you have a chance to go you won't regret it! The food was outstanding.
It was an amazing meal and experience. The only downside (not the restaurant’s fault) was an infant that another family brought with them, that cried sporadically through the meal. Not the type of place for a baby.
I hope Penrose asks parents to leave the young ones at home or with a sitter in the future.
Other than that, it was one of the best meals I’ve ever had.
Overall the experience was quite nice The service was outstanding. The menu for the chef’s tasting was eclectic but there were too many grilled or roasted strong vegetables ie cabbage, turnip and cauliflower. The elk dish was chewy and frankly not edible NO attempt was made to accommodate this flaw however. The wine pairings were just okay. The dessert pairing was the best but it was a cocktail not a wine. I did not feel the value was there. Outstanding were the onion custard and the black truffle polenta!
We did the Thursday“winter special”, three courses with wine pairings for each. Awesome food and service. Live music for dancing. Outstanding!
From the moment we walked in we felt welcomed and appreciated as customers. The food was wonderful, the service spot on without being overbearing. The trio who played and sang were terrific. My only gripe is the room is severely in need of a decorating update. I felt like I needed to be wearing padded shoulders and a perm from the 80s.
We had the 3 course tasting menu. Delicious - especially the turnip tofu salad and the tuna. The agnolotti were very good as were the veal cheeks. Dessert was good as well. We had the creme brûlée and the il flotante.
Excellent all the way around
Service was excellent. Food creative and tasty. I really enjoyed the elk. Very nice live quiet jazz band with vocalist played while we were there for my sister's birthday. Beautiful view of downtown Colorado Springs evening lights from one side. The lake on the other side.
It is always such a pleasure to drive to Colorado Springs for Dinner in the Pinrose Room,
The food and service are beyond anything in Colorado.
This is a special place to take your bride and to celebrate an anniversary. Dining, fine wine and dancing await along with impeccable service. Not cheap but amazing.
Love the Penrose Room. It’s the classy old school romantic dinner. Top notch food and service all the way.
This was our first visit to the Penrose Room and it was a delightful experience. We were celebrating a birthday and took advantage of their Winter Special that included a 3-course meal with wine parings. The view is fantastic and the warm, comfortable atmosphere along with the dinner music provided a wonderful ambience. The entire staff was outstanding. Each person was welcoming and friendly. Any questions about the menu selections were explained and some recommendations were made. Each item was described as it was served and the sommelier explained the wine choice and how it enhanced the meal. We both enjoyed the Caramelized Onion Bouillon as an appetizer, chose Ahi Tuna and Tiger Prawns for the main course, and had Le Forêt Noire chocolate dessert to finish the meal. All courses were perfectly prepared and wonderfully presented. The wine parings were a fun way to experience different wines. We would highly recommend the Broadmoor's Penrose Room for your next special occasion or fine dining experience.
Excellent food, atmosphere and service. All of the staff are courteous, attentive and well trained in dining room service. Definitely will go again.
Top of line in every respect. Elegant , creative, delicious and the service was fantastic, which has been hard to find in the Denver area.
We did the tast long menu and it was not cheap but was well worth the high price. The food and service was amazing. Chef Maxwell came out and showered our plates with truffles during one course. The view is stunning and the live music was pleasant. I hope that Michilen comes to Colorado to visit this restaurant.
The atmosphere was elegant with an amazing view of the city. We all really enjoyed our cocktails in the private sitting area by the fireplace before being seated at our table (reminiscent of trips to Italy, France and Scotland) Food was expertly prepared and beautifully presented. Vegetarian menu options were limited for my two companions, but the chef created individual courses for them based on their preferences which were excellent. Service was excellent as well. Wonderful live music ensemble and dancing topped off a memorable anniversary celebration.
This was an exceptional experience. I have had the pleasure of dining in some fine restaurants; this is definitely now among them.
Chef Max and his team create complex layered wonders that are absolutely amazing and delicious. His staff is very attentive and knowledgeable. Eric, the sommelier is incredible in pairing just the right wine with each dish. Michelin Star quality restaurant.
