Executive chef: Courtney Van Dyke

From the OpenTable editors: It’s always a special time at Peninsula Grill, a AAA Four Diamond Restaurant inside Charleston’s historic Planters Inn. Start with a drink in the Champagne bar before taking a seat in the brick courtyard surrounded by Palmetto trees and carriage lanterns. Outstanding steaks 🄩 the bernaise sauce is very nice, and their famous coconut 🄄 cake šŸ° is a must have. The mixologist did a great job and there’s quite a variety of restaurant signature cocktails šŸ¹ For wine šŸ· enthusiasts, you won’t be disappointed with the selection. Definitely a top 10 pick for CharlestonšŸ˜‰

Wonderful is the word that comes to mind. I had the double cut pork chop, and it was fabulous. My husband had the salmon and said it was very good and cooked to perfection, but we both agreed, the pork chop was better. We had a side of mashed potatoes that was average, but it was not that important when considering the quality of the other foods. The coconut cake was every bit as good as reviewers had said it would be. Our server, James, made the evening extra special because he was everything you expect a server to be...knowledge of the food, attentive, never too far away nor obtrusive, anticipated our needs, and was as fine as the restaurant and food. Peninsula Grill helped make our 30th wedding anniversary one that we will never forget, and I thank them for that!

Fantastic food and cocktails. Arrived a bit early and enjoyed a great experience and cocktail in the bar. The bartender was first class and a true mixologist. The restaurant is classy and luxurious. We started with the caviar, then enjoyed the she crab soup. Ordered a very nice bottle of wine to enjoy with the foie gras and waygu steak. The food was delicious and unforgettable. Unfortunately, the service was surprisingly poor. We had to ask to have plates cleared before other servings arrived. The wine was poured and decanted. However when I tried unsuccessfully several times to have our glasses refilled, the decanter was across the room, I finally had to get up and retrieve the decanter myself. Surprising for all we had heard about the Peninsula. The manager was kind, apologized, and the coconut cake was no charge...which we appreciated. However, It just wasn't the experience we expected for the $$$$.

This experience was very good. The ribeye was well seasoned and perfectly done. The short ribs were tender and tasted great. Our server checked on us enough that we always had what we needed, but not so much as to interrupt our dinner. Will definitely return.

Paul was my waiter and he was personable and efficient. My food and drink selections were very good. Prices seemed high. The atmosphere in the main dining is exceptionally attractive.

Room was very loud. Tables too close together. Should be a more serene environment. Food and service both stellar.

A very good restaurant. Unfortunately the sommelier was out last night, but we chose a very good wine anyway. Everything is prepared to perfection.
    Peninsula GrillResponded 7 days ago
Thank you, John! We’re so glad to hear you enjoyed your evening and appreciated the care put into each dish. While we're sorry our sommelier wasn’t available during your visit, we're happy to hear you still found a great wine to complement your meal. Your kind words and thoughtful tags mean a great deal to us. We look forward to welcoming you back for another perfect evening—hopefully with our full wine team next time! Warm regards, Peninsula Grill Management
