With velvet-lined walls in shimmering oyster tones, woven seagrass, and indigenous cypress molding, the Peninsula Grill Dining Room ambiance is supper club sumptuousness. The Peninsula Grill Champagne Bar is an intimate jewel box space that offers several outstanding champagnes by the glass and a delicious bar menu. The lush Peninsula Grill Courtyard is one of the Charleston's true hidden gems and the most romantic al fresco dining setting in the city.
Peninsula Grill is a proud member of Relais & Châteaux, an exclusive collection of restaurants and hotels in romantic destinations around the world. Business casual attire.
Other than tenderloin being a little less tender than expected all else was good.
Did not like the new seating arrangements. The former interior was rich and welcoming. The loss of the cozy booths on the left hand side of the dining room is a shame. The wooden, country house style chairs in the dining room are the opposite of chic. Looking around I felt I was more at a Cracker Barrel than a sophisticated, top ranked Charleston restaurant. The service and food quality were there....
Our server Chris was great- professional and very friendly.
The vibe was very relaxing and laid back- just the way we line it.
Food was excellent. We will be back.
Thank you so much for your kind review. We can’t wait to welcome you back to Peninsula Grill for another memorable dinner. Cheers, Erich Rauber Manager Peninsula Grill
I watched this place on several TV shows. To actually go there was so exciting. The service was warm and the staff enchanting. When my food came the plate looked skimpy but before I knew it. I was full.
Dear DwayneC, I am glad that you finally got the chance to dine with us at Peninsula Grill. We are fortunate enough to have been in a few TV shows over the years, but it’s not quite the same as actually being here, live and in person. The velveted walls and woven grass flooring set the perfect backdrop for any special occasion, while our team of dedicated and hard working Professionals tend to your every need. Thank you again and we look forward to hosting you in the very near future. Cheers!
Great experience did not disappoint, will return again

Great dining experience
Dear Anonymous, Thank you for your recent visit to Peninsula Grill and your kind words. We hope to get the chance to host you again in the very near future!! Cheers, Erich Rauber
I took my nine year-old granddaughter on a special date to Peninsula Grill. Robert made her feel very special and grown, she had a special ginger-lime mocktail, a big bowl of she-crab soup, and the salmon entree. Of course we finished with coconut cake. For the life of me I don’t know why I don’t just order the foie gras for each course. The scallops were wonderful also. Thanks for helping me expand a little one’s palate and worldview. She was made to feel welcome and encouraged to behave as an elegant young woman.
Dear Anonymous, I can't tell you how honored we are that you chose Peninsula Grill to spend a little quality time with your granddaughter. We have helped usher is several generations of gourmands and we are glad to have had a small part in helping here. We look forward to hosting you for many, many years to come. Warmest Regards, Erich Rauber Manager Peninsula Grill
Just a very special place to enjoy an exquisite dinner

The server and the food were great! However there was a couple close to us that was not dressed properly and they were very loud

Always one of the best places to dine in Charleston. We live here and it is great having the Peninsula Grill where everything is what you would expect from one of the finest restaurants on the east coast. From the staff to the kitchen, you will not be disappointed!

Frequent every time in Charleston. Food and service, best in class!

Haven’t been to Peninsula Grill in awhile and it didn’t disappoint. Fantastic Rack of Lamb and if you love Foie Gras you have to go.
All around a great experience. The food was exceptional and service great. Indoor dining was appropriately social distanced, clean, and still created a nice experience.

Our team continually strives to offer the best food and service to be had in Charleston and I am glad that we met your expectations. We look forward to seeing you in the very near future. Loved everything! Food, service, atmosphere. Great place.
We selected Peninsula Grill to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary and we were not disappointed. Our server, Jessica, was absolutely amazing. From the moment she greeted us, she was fantastic. Her recommendations were spot on and she was very attentive throughout our dinner experience. We both had the she crab soup, which was amazing, and the filets with goat cheese mashed potatoes and the beans. The only downside was the steaks were a little saltier than we liked, but they were cooked perfectly and very tender. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and we look forward to returning when we can sit out on the gorgeous patio.
The best coconut cake ever!
Overall wonderful experience- outstanding food, service and ambiance- perfect for a special occasion
Boring French easy tricks cusine. May impress mainstream people but not good enough for Charleston
Another recommendation for our trip to Charleston was this restaurant. It was a terrific experience. Our server was just wonderful, food exceptionally good and the finale of the the 12 layer coconut cake with a great cup of coffee could not have been better. A must go to place for dining.
Great meal and great service. From start to finish we had a great meal. The coconut cake is their specialty and a must try. We will be coming back
This place is the definition of fine dining. Beautiful decor and exceptional service that showcases the delicious food such as seared scallops or rack of lamb. The 12 layer coconut cake is a must have. We will be back!!
Servie was excellent!!! Food: The steak was exceptional as was the smashed potatoes!!
We were sorry that the she crab soup was not good at all...........but we will return! Thank!
Every bite was delicious! And the atmosphere is perfect!
Top of the line! Refined dining at its best!
Excellent, as you would expect for a restaurant if this caliber.
Classic high end grill. Menu is high quality and not fussy. Not a trendy place at all. Old school. Coconut cake is overrated, just a tower of sweet frosting.
I have been here several times and it never fails to impress me and my guests.
Our waitress Deilia was fabulous! The scallops were delicious and my husband had the filet. Cooked to perfection! Coconut Cake melted in your mouth! Can’t wait to go back!
Best restaurant in Charleston in my opinion. As good as any restaurant in the USA. Everything was excellent and service was superb. We eat here every time we visit Charleston.
It was wonderful
This was my first experience at PG and I was not impressed. The service was subpar, we had dirty dishes piling up on the table throughout the meal, ordered a few things that never arrived. The steaks and lobster were delicious, but the whipped potatoes had no salt and were basically inedible. For the price point and reputation of this Charleston mainstay I expected a much better standard of service and cuisine. Will not return.
Our server Joanna was awful. She was rude to us. As long as she works there we will not come back!!!
As always the food was terrific. The oysters casino were superb and the mushroom and shallots side was amazing. And that cake! Since COVID they’ve gotten creative with covered outside dining. The continental breakfast was beautiful. Love this place.
We always love Peninsula Grill! Food and service are outstanding and the coconut cake is to die for!
Very expensive but worth it for special occasions.
This is a Charlestonian classic that is a
must on your dining list when in Charleston. If you want fine dining, impeccable service set in a beautiful ambiance that also has Covid policies and procedures in place, make your reservations now. The staff greet you at the door are masked and promptly bring you to your table. We had a delightful waitress go over the menu with us and it was a hard decision to choose as I love everything that is served here.
Since we were celebrating my husband’s milestone birthday, we ordered a bottle of champagne and I started with the beef tartare. For an entree, I ordered the pan roasted scallops which were placed on top of whipped Yukon gold potatoes, braised butter lettuce, lobster medallion finished with a citrus beurre blanc sauce. My husband ordered the center cut filet accompanied with the brandy peppercorn jus with a side of the Yukon gold whipped potatoes. (On a side note, our friends highly recommend pistachio crusted lamb rack). For dessert we had the ultimate coconut cake and the banana panna cotta pudding which were phenomenal. The coconut cake was everything as it has been described to me and the texture/taste was very reminiscent of my own wedding cake made by Peninsula Grill’s founding pastry chef, Esthe Steffinelli who created the coconut cake and since “refined” by the current pastry chef. The banana panna cotta was divine so you must save room for both desserts if you can, remember vacation calories do not count!
