Beautiful restaurant and terrace. Both the wagyu filet and lamb chops were outstanding. Service was excellent. My first time to dine at the Grill and can’t wait to come back!

Our servers were great, especially Armin (if I spelled his name correctly). However the hostesses were horrible and should be replaced. They are not right for the job. We had a reservation for 7:15 pm for my fiancés birthday, and arrived on time so we can be seated before the sunset (all intentionally planned). There were many available tables and they made us wait until 7:41 (9 min before sunset. When I inquired about getting seated, all I got was lots of attitudes and eye rolls. I mean, with that “quality” of a restaurant, you should do better when hiring . The entire experience is based on your customer service, which was lacking significantly. Do better. Otherwise, the food was fine and the bartender knows exactly how to make a dirty martini.

We started with the West Coast oysters, fresh and briny, served with mignonette, cocktail sauce, lemon, and Tabasco. A perfect, refreshing start. The Caviar & Fries was the standout appetizer, crispy golden fries topped with rich Osetra caviar, smooth crème fraîche, and a drizzle of chive oil. Decadent, creative, and delicious. For mains, the Puttanesca de Mer delivered beautifully balanced flavors, featuring seared diver scallop, calamari, prawn, and salt spring mussels over tonnarelli nero, finished with fresh basil. A seafood dish done right. The grilled duck was juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked, hearty and satisfying. The service was excellent, attentive, friendly, and professional. The only small drawback was the slow pace of food delivery, especially considering the restaurant wasn’t busy. Still, the quality made up for it. Overall, a great experience—refined, memorable, and worth returning for. We’ll definitely be back.

As Marriott Ambassadors and owners of a luxury travel agency, Pura Vida Global Travel, we have dined at restaurants all over the world, including Michelin Star restaurants and family owned restaurants that have been in business for decades. We looked forward to experiencing Pelican Grill as a ‘special’ dining experience on the final evening of our stay at The Pelican Hill Resort & Spa, who recently became a Marriott Bonvoy St. Regis property. This was our first visit to The Pelican Hill Resort & Spa, and we have clients who would visit on our recommendation. Our experience at Pelican Grill was one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had in our luxury travels. We were dining on a lighter fare, ordering a simple tuna appetizer (my husband’s dish) and a wedge salad with chicken (my dish), which should not have made any difference in the level of service we received. Our server (whose name I will omit from this review) came across as extremely impatient when we had questions about dishes on the menu and then would disappear for long periods of time. My husband’s tuna dish was edible and he finished most of it, however my simple wedge salad with chicken (added) was one of the worst dishes I have eaten in a very long time. The chicken breast was extremely dry and served barely lukewarm - certainly had been sitting in the kitchen for quite some time. Our server had disappeared again (he wasn’t the one who brought the dishes to the table), so I flagged down two other servers from different seating sections to ask my dish to be prepared correctly. Our server finally appeared again after a long wait, and took my plate off the table. When the ‘new’ plate appeared, it was the exact same chicken breast that had most likely been reheated by some method and served to me even drier than before and completely inedible. I had enough at that point and ate part of a terrible wedge salad with a couple of bites of the chicken. Our water was never filled - much more to say!
