Had brunch with out of Towner friends.
Great food wonderful waiter and staff.
Food was very good, server was excellent. But the hostess was terrible. She gave our party of 4 a table near the door (cold!). Before we sat, we asked to move to one of the many empty tables further away, but she said she was saving them in case they needed to push them together for a large party. Not 5 minutes later she seated another party of 4 at one of those tables. From our drafty table we were able to watch her spend most of the night on her phone.
3 of us went for lunch. We each got a bowl of gumbo that was delicious! We decided to share appetizers. We got cornbread, catfish bites, and wings. Everything was wonderful. A great place to try if you like southern or cajun food or like to share. Next time I am in Chicago I would definitely go again. Also, service was prompt and attentive.
Tasty and unpretentious!
It was good food and good einvornment and a fun time
Delicious as always! One of our favorite restaurants of all time. Great atmosphere and outstanding food.
Always a great time with great food!
Celebrated my daughters first Marathon. A friend suggested Pearl's and was not disappointed. You must ask for Chris - The Best Bartender in the city! He is a rock star!
We were in Chicago to celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving so were looking for someplace serving Turkey. Pearl's was recommended and we couldn't wait to dive in to some great soul food. The servings are generous and everybody loved every bite. Between the 4 of us we had turkey meatloaf, turkey, country fried steak, ribs, mac and cheese, collard greens, mashed potatoes and yams. Dessert was apple cobbler, peach cobbler and sweet potato pie. We left with smiles on our faces and great food in our tummys. Will be back next time we are in Chicago!
Such a great experience. I loved every moment. I couldn't have asked for a better one year anniversary.
Great place. Those hurricanes were a hit! I will be back.
Authentic Cajun/southern cuisine in a casual, friendly environment. Cocktails, appetizers, plates small and large--all delicious. I'm trying to work my way through the menu, and have not been disappointed yet!
I will say the food was fantastic- very flavorful, everything was very tasty. My only concern is all three of us, including myself, had digestive upset afterward. It seems like we may have all gotten sick from something here. That being said, it was so good, I would still consider going back again.
I tried the catfish po-boy sandwich and it was good. The seasoned fries was very salty in my opinion. I also tried the nutter-butter pie and that was a complete waste of money. Very rich and needed a thicker layer of the crust instead of that thick peanut butter. Overall place is nice and sever was nice too.
The space was awesome. Unfortunately, the food was underwhelming. We ordered pimento cheese spread which was pretty bland. Ribs were kind of tough and pulled pork was just okay. The fries were pretty awesome though-- perfectly crispy!
Pearl' s Southern Comfort is always a "Yes" for me, with the best Shrimp 'n Grits in town. Service is a sure plus. And my favorite drink, a Rusty Nail, is always available. Pearl's has a neighborhood feel that I love.
Excellent southern style food.....and Michelle, our server, was absolutely great.
Loved loved loved the roof top bar/restaurant. Chris the bartender turned me on to Sazaraz which was divine!
The food was very good and our server was outstanding. She was extremely friendly and very helpful with suggestions.
loved the food & the service. we'll go back soon
I ordered an old fashioned it was not blended well and they served me dirty fish. The other items were mediocre, nothing to brag about. I will not be back.
Ah-Mazing! My husband and i usually stick to our regular places, but after a recent trip to NOLA, we were craving Creole and Pearl's delivered. Michelle, our server, was an absolute delight! Go to Pearls!
We have been missing a great southern/cajun option since a famous Chicago-area name became an overpriced tourist trap (and finally disappeared). The food is superb with great cocktails (the Hurricane is my companion's favorite) and draft beer selection with southern and local microbrews represented (I had an Abita amber ale).
I have nothing but great things to say about this place! I recommend it to everyone and anyone.
Always great food and cocktails! The hostess seems to continue having issues if the customer wants a different table. Major attitude and we are told to be specific when we make reservations, so be warned! It's happened when I went with other friends too. The only negative about this place.
Made reservations for rooftop..and got in esrly...roof was wide open...beautiful evening. Be aware that rooftop menu is greatly reduced...so you will miss many of the signature dishes...but fI'll bar is available.
Excellent service, great food and drink, and clever ambiance. We shall be back.
Nice space and good menu but the food was pretty awful. Under cooked potatoes, messy presentation, and overall unimpressive. Big Jones on Clark does the same style of food/brunch much better.
The lower star ratting is totally due to the hostess. Our group of three was floored from the first interaction. We walked in with a reservation with a note requesting a table outside, the hostess said she had nothing to do with the outside and said we need to go upstairs. All three of us went up a long flight of stairs only to find no tables available. We went back down stairs and told the hostess there was nothing upstairs and wanted a table inside, her response was rude and dismissed us to the bar even though there were all kinds of tables open and set up. While waiting"at the bar" a server or bus person burst through a door that opened from the basement into the bar area almost knocking over one of us, he was very apologetic ,obviously this is a layout problem not a personal issue. Our server was OUTSTANDING, she was so on top of everything, it was amazing. So nice, so helpful, our server was great, food was good to very good, value is very good. Hostess is the worst in all of Andersonville.
Had a great server. She was attentive and helpful. Felt the shrimp in po boy sandwich were overcooked. One in our party, a vegetarian, found bacon in her shrimp & grits. Not mentioned on menu. We'll return, and just be more specific when ordering.
Saturday night (July 29, 2017) was the first time I dined at Pearl's. The food was really good - I had the blackened catfish, mac n cheese and collards, as well cornbread & a Hurricane :-) The ambiance was lovely and they also had tables outside to enjoy the beautiful weather while you eat. This would be a place that I would definitely recommend.
The only problem I had was that we got there in time for our reservation which was at 9:15pm. The place was not crowded and there were many tables available. However me and my fiance' requested a high table (4 seater) by the window and was told by the Hostess (which was a medium-build, short, black woman) that we could not sit there and proceeded to lead us to the 1/2 booth 1/2 chair location that had many spots available. She never said why but I figured maybe it was because it was two of us and the table we wanted was for four. Again the place was not overly crowded and since it was closing at 10:30, I knew there wasn't going to be a larger crowd than what was already there. As we were getting our food I noticed that a couple of 2 came in and requested the same table (that was still unoccupied and a high table for 4) that we did and they were politely seated there. Of course the Hostess that seated us had left and a new Hostess (or fill in) was at the door. I wasn't upset but just annoyed at why we couldn't get the table we wanted by one Hostess but another couple came in and got the same exact table seated by another.
This will not stop me from visiting this restaurant, I just thought I would share my total experience.

Made reservations on Open Table, went to hostess stand to check in but were not given a table until 10 minutes after reservation. Took 10-15 minutes to get a servers attention after waving one to our table. It seemed there was confusion as to who was to wait on our table. Finally got a server, ordered 2 beverages , 1 appetizer, 2 dinners, one side vegetable. Food took a long time to be delivered server even commented on slow kitchen. We ended up receiving the appetizer at the same time as meals unfortunately not before. Food was good but not great. Value varies as dinners seemed competitively priced but appetizer expensive for size of BBQ shrimp and 2 thin slices of French bread. Food was moderately spiced again have had similar dishes with more flavor elsewhere. Bill Total $90 for 2 beers, 1 diet soda, 1 appetizer, 1 Jambalaya, 1 Shrimp and Grits and 1 Cauliflower/ Brussels Sprout Vegetable. I personally would give one more try to see if it was an off night but my spouse says no way due to wait and lack of hostesses concern when he stopped on the way out to let her know about our dinning experience. There was no apology or questions just said your waitress is new. Seriously once we got our waitress she was good. I think she had more tables than the other nearby servers I watched, and our table probably should have been given to another (especially if she "was" new). Kitchen speed had nothing to do with her nor the hostesses lack of customer service.
After an abrupt start with the hostess, the rest of the experience was enjoyable. Quality food, good drinks and affable wait staff.
The hostess seemed a little distressed and wasn't really a great communicator but our waitress made up for it, as well as, the great food.
great choices w/o an overbearing menu. our server Audrey was very attentive and considering we were 10 people very patient. the group was completely happy about the taste, quantity and presentation of our choices. the blackened catfish and jambalaya were flavorful and perfectly prepared.
I love the food at Pearl's, but the service was terrible. I normally despise people who allow their review to be wrapped up in the service, but the young lady who waited on us was truly awful.
Chris the bartender was awesome. Great recommendations
Ate at the bar. Chris was awesome.
Very good, nothing fancy but great and authentic flavors
Was looking for a place to dine with out of town family that wanted to hang out for Jazz. So I Google places in the area, stumbled across this gem. We where all first time and everyone Loved it. The corn bread was a hit. I will be going back...
