We'd been wanting to eat at Pearl & Ash for some time now and were excited to be going given there has been quite a bit of positive hype about the place. Our experience was average all around, nothing terrible but nothing noteworthy either. The service is a bit slow and disjointed as is the timing on the food. The steak was very tasty but other dishes were average. The chicken meatballs which were highly recommended by our server were strange and like dense chicken spam. I wouldn't go back nor would I recommend going here to otherwise when there are so many other fantastic dining options in NYC.

Service was very strange. Not sure if they were down a server or two but there was no one at the door upon entering, the bartender struggled to take orders and once seated, we were required to flag down our server to order and again and again... and again. Perhaps they are living off of the NYTimes review from years ago.

I had been here 3 years ago and it was very good. Great food, energy, service etc although this time around the service was extremely poor- recommended a disgusting beer and was generally not knowledgeable of the menu. Also, although we ordered small plates, the food took an unreasonable time to come out and the staff was very unapologetic when we expressed our unhappiness. I will not be returning to Pearl and Ash.

Truly disappointing. A very limited uninventive menu; quite different from the menu presented on OpenTable. No specials. The burrata was very fresh and creamy, but bland. The server was sullen and inattentive. Refused to bring a bit of chopped garlic when asked. The skirt steak was just OK I asked for a cocktail but was told that the bar was closed, although it looked rather open. The wine list was great, though.

My wife and I went to Pearl & Ash on a Friday night after an event at a LES art gallery. Scallop crudo was a little bland and strangely sweet, but everything was uphill from there. Spicy broccoli rabe was inventive and tasty (note that the rabe sits atop a ricotta-type base, not ideal for the lactose-intolerant). Octopus was great, beef brisket was good comfort food. Wine list is strong, though there aren't many interesting by-the-glass options.

The staff at Pearl and Ash did everything possible to make my wife's 40th B Day special. She has a major dietary restriction and they worked with us like it wasn't a big deal. I can't tell you how rare that is among elite restaurants. We will be BACK!!!

Slow and terrible service. I used to love to come to pearl and ash. Food is not as good ever since they changed chef. The place is slow on Sunday night and it took them forever to get our food out. We sat by the kitchen and saw our food getting cold on the window. We won't be coming back.

The first fish courses were promising but after that most of what we had was average to inedible. Some dishes were so salty we could taste nothing else. Others just tasted unpleasant. There were also long waits between some of the dishes arriving. We were sat right under the kitchen serving hatch so the waiting staff were hovering nervously round our table all night while dishes stacked up around us. The restaurant was packed so maybe we were just unlucky. It was very disappointing.

Intolerably noisy. Some food very good, some merely "ambitious"--that is, non-intuitive combinations with non-delicious results. Very good wine list, very good sommelier.

Went out for a girls night dinner and had a great time. We ordered A lot, so it was definitely pricey. But overall, the wine, food, and atmosphere was great. Dishes that specifically were great: tuna crudo, burrata, octopus.

The service was uneven and while some dishes were delicious, others less so (so I guess the food was also uneven). It took a really long time to get our appetizers, too, which were raw oysters, so relatively easy to get out, and the restaurant was nearly empty so it wasn't that they were busy.

Pearl and Ash has one of the greatest, widest-ranging wine lists in the city. Unbelievable selection. Go there for the wine, and have a bite while you're at it. The food menu really needs some wider variety, but the few selections they have are fine. But it's the wine that makes this place fabulous!

Had a great time at Pearl & Ash with some friends for their BOGO half off wine deal (great deal!). It was quieter than normal there because it was Labor Day weekend so no one in the city, but still a good crowd. I have to admit I didn't love the food as much as I have during previous meals, but I will still be returning! if you love wine, try going to one of their Renegade Wine dinners on Tuesdays!

I took my husband here for his birthday after reading all the positive reviews on OpenTable and perusing the restaurant website and menu. But I was pretty disappointed with the whole experience. The atmosphere would have been lovely if not for the poor music selection. It was like listening to a bad radio station that really clashed with the whole vibe -- I mean c'mon, no one should have to listen to two Kansas songs during any meal. The sommelier was absolutely lovely but the service in general was pretty unattentive: they brought out the wrong plate in place of something we ordered, and charged us for a second beer we never got. All of this could have been forgiven if the food was stellar. But it wasn't. Everything was very underwhelming (for reference, we got the oysters, burrata, scallops, brisket, and cheesecake that was supposedly "to die for.") My glass of wine was the best part of the meal, and after a little more research it seems like this is what most people go for. I just wish I knew that up front.

Just Terrific! Small plates take on a truly new meaning while giving a very modern nod to Spain; fresh, inventive and hard to share they are THAT good! This is one of those menus where describing what we ate or the name of the dish will not do any justice to the chef's expert preparation; even all the way to dessert! Very satisfying, delicious, different and memorable!

The creative cooking and the casual atmosphere make this a very attractive dinner venue. The wine list is beyond imagination, very tempting and giving the opportunity to spend a fortune. We dined outside, very nice atmosphere. Service should know more about what is being served, what ingredients are and how things are prepared.

Food was as excellent as I remembered from a previous meal there 2 yrs ago Small plates are their signature. We picked 2 each shared among 3 people except for dessert where we all shared one portion of a wonderful cheesecake. Dishes were enough and delicious except for some kind of scrambled eggs, sloppy texture, with a fish component,(sea urchin maybe), which we really did not like. Service good. We asked for in advance and got a quiet table. Happy experience.

The small plates here--mostly combinations of vegetables and seafood--are truly original. They are also delicious, which is not always the case with creative recipes. The list of wines by the glass is also full of happy surprises. It ends up being a bit expensive for a light meal, but on reflection you're paying for quality not quantity.

Friendly and unpretentious with the feeling of a neighborhood cafe instead of a wine bar with a 100 page wine list. The somm was helpful and guided us to some value options. Our favorite dishes were the rapini appetizer and the brisket for the main.
