The award-winning and critically acclaimed Bar at Pazzaluna Urban Italian is an energetic and fun place to meet after work, before an event at the Ordway, Xcel Energy Center, Roy Wilkins Auditorium or just to unwind with family, friends, clients or business associates.
During warm weather, relax on the patio and enjoy the sights and sounds of downtown St. Paul (patio open May through September). See for yourself, you'll be glad you did.
Food was delicious, good variety. We went for restaurant week but will definitely be going back. Chicken Piccata was excellent
Awesome! Get service with great friends!
Arrived at our 7:30 reservation time & was told they had to “seat 4 groups ahead of us. Wait is 5-10 minutes”. They suggested we wait in the bar. 20 minutes later when I checked on our table they told me “we texted you 15 minutes ago”. Nono one told me they’d text me & I left my phone in my car. Upon leaving I gave the valet my ticket. “$18”. I waited 15 minutes AFTER I paid him...no car. When we asked him where our car was he said I never gave him the ticket. Somehow they found my car. A bit disjointed. Typically you don’t ask someone for money until the service is rendered. Food was good! Our waitress Emmerlee was nice & told us about the free bottle of wine with a birthday.
Wonderful experience! I have always been there for happy hour but never dinner. The food was amazing and our service was outstanding. Thank you very much, we cannot wait to go back!
Wonderful venue for a celebration or special occasion!
Very nice place to go for good food for special occasions.
Always great food and wait staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Our birthday go to spot. Free wine and free dessert, can’t be beat.
Amazing experience all around!! Cannoloni was to die for!!
This is a favorite place for special occasions for my wife and I, our most recent visit was her birthday, and the birthday club gives you a bottle of wine and dessert. The food was really good, especially the gnocchi and stuffed cannelloni, and the service was excellent.
We enjoyed the meal and ambience. They were slammed with the Valentine's weekend, a Wild hockey game and Ordway event. All hands were busy trying to keep up with the food and drinks. It took a little longer because of the aforementioned. I will continue to visit. Yum
We were seated by front door on a cold evening so were chilly the entire time, plus we got to listen to the hostess shouting out names of parties for seating in a shrill voice. We ordered the prix fixe Valentine's dinner with wine pairings and server mixed up first two wines which we drank with wrong courses. She also didn't seem to know about timing the meal and kept asking if we were ready for her to order next course. Food was otherwise good and reasonably priced, but service and seating location made this a lot less enjoyable than we usually experience at Pazzaluna.
good food. good service. wait staff seemed a little overworked but it was understandable for valentines day and they still did a great job
Overall, it was another great experience for dinner. The food was great and the ambiance was nice. The service was very good.
The service was great! We weren’t waiting around for service or refills. But also didn’t feel rushed! The food was amazing! I especially loved the house bread and our crab cakes! We also ordered the apple crisp dessert with gelato and it was great
Had a great meal, the food was amazing as always. The staff was very patient with our 8 year old daughter. The group of 6-7 next to us was a bit rowdy but it was still a fun evening.
We went on Valentine's Day which isn't the best day to judge noise level, but it still wasn't obnoxiously loud. Our first time there, the space was larger than we expected, yet still somewhat cozy without being dated. The staff handled the crowd well. Service was good, a little too quick at first. We chose the specials with wine parings and enjoyed all but one, which was still quite good (sirloin was a little too peppery). I want to return on a more "normal" evening to explore their large menu.
Service was amazing the the food outstanding! One of our favorite restaurants.
We were there on Valentine’s Day and we were seated right on time. Very nice table location. Our server was very attentive and kept us always with drinks and food. We hadn’t been here in several years due to distance from our home but we quickly realized again why this has always been one of our favorite places. Great food and service at a great price. Highly recommend
Always a favorite. Only wish the bruschetta was the same as it was a couple years ago.
Overall, it had good food and a nice atmosphere. The service was underwhelming. The timing was off (we watched as others seated after us ordered and were served their meals), we were asked if it was a special occasion and then were told that if we were there within three days of the birthday we would have received x, y and z - but since were were not we couldn't (ahh, okay), they did not come through to check in with us throughout, there were a lot of wait times (to order, dessert consideration, to get the bill), we were told no, they would not call the car from valet, etc. It might of just been a bad night.
We had a reservation and were seated right away, but it took probably 25 minutes until we saw a server. Once we did though, they were very friendly and apologetic and even took care of our first round of drinks. The food was delicious and came out quickly, and for the quality of the meal the prices weren't too outrageous. Overall a very good experience.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Directly across the street from there St Paul hotel. I will definitely be back.
Festive atmosphere and affordability for a birthday celebration. They have a very nice wine promotion for a birthday dinner, check it out on their website.
The service was excellent. The location is great. The food is decent but over priced.
It is always a lovely time at Pazzaluna when Curtis or Lois serve us! Curtis was our server on Friday as we were meeting friends who were late because they went to the wrong restaurant. Curtis filled in the gap with a delicious assortment of appetizers from the case, a perfect Riesling wine choice, root beer for the teens, and delightful conversation with Curtis. I was happy to see that the original Porcini encrusted veal over linguini had returned to the menu; mine was not as wonderful as I remembered it. It should have had a larger portion of linguine and the sauce, which used to be very flavorful. All the other entrees and desserts were delicious! Our friends were so happy to have another favorite restaurant to add to their St. Paul favorites and we will all come back again and again!
Always excellent food and presentation at a great price.
Great place just a little too loud especially near the open kitchen. Our waitress was amazing which helped!
We come here a lot before Wild games. The regular menu is great and specials are good too. Tonight's crab stuffed salmon special was exceptional. My wife's portobello mushroom pappardelle was unbelievable. Service was ok...got seated and took longer than normal for server to show up but was good after that. Great place.
Pazzaluna is our go-to restaurant for dinner before shows at the Ordway. They have decent vegetarian options, including a pappardelle with mushroom ragu special that I wish would be on their regular menu. We will be back
I had a reservation but they were overbooked. My business guest and I had to wait 20 min, which made for an awkward intro meeting.
This has moved down my list as a result of this
We were scheduled to attend a performance at the Ordway at 7:30 and would have liked a 6:00 reservation. It seemed that we could probably do with a reservation at 6:15 which was all that was available, so scheduled that. We arrived at 6:15 and weren't seated until 6:45. I asked our server if we could order a soup so that it could be served promptly giving us time to eat it before departing at 7:15. She said that was not possible since all orders are individually prepared. (This seemed odd to me. Soup is usually prepared in advance.) I ordered a pasta dish that the server cautioned might be too spicy for me. I said it would probably be fine. The pasta came at 7:05 and was so mild that I didn't want to bother to eat it. The chicken in the pasta seemed to be processed into marble shapes which were tasteless. I've had dinner at Pazzaluna before which was fine. What a surprise this was!
I am a frequent diner at Pazzaluna and it has always been my favorite St. Paul restaurant. On Tuesday, my son and I had dinner there prior to an Ordway performance. We had a great appetizer from the antipasti bar. I ordered the special lamb shank. When it came out, it was very cold. I asked the server to heat it and it came back 10 minutes later lukewarm. the Polenta that was served with it must have been put in the microwave because it came back very hard. The lamb which usually falls off the bone, was so tough I had trouble cutting it and in fact, only ate a couple of bites. Definitely not a good value for the price. The server picked up my uneaten meal without a comment and never asked if there was something wrong - but she also did not ask if I wanted a to-go box so I expect that she knew I was not happy. My son ordered a shrimp pasta which was very good but he forgot to ask for extra garlic so it as a little bland for him. We both felt the server was not very friendly. She brought me the check without any comment. The restaurant was quite full as there was the Ordway performance and a Wild game so the noise level was higher than normal. We do enjoy the ambiance at Pazzaluna and hope that our next trip is better
Using open table was the best route. We had dinner on a night when several activities were going on in St. Paul so the restaurant was packed. We gave our names and were promptly escorted to a table. The service was excellent. Although we knew our server was really busy, we did not feel her pressure. She spent time chatting with us and letting us know what meals would make us happy. The food did not disappoint. The walleye was amazing and my friends pasta was delicious as well. The desserts were fabulous. Highly recommend the food and atmosphere.
Lamb chops were great! It was nice to have valet since it was a packed night.
Very tasty food, very nice table near the window, great service!
Celebrated our anniversary with or kids this time and it was perfect! Food is always amazing, great atmosphere and location was perfect!
The food and service at our table were wonderful. The hosts when we arrived appeared to be overwhelmed and not well-trained, not nearly as professional as our wait staff.
Again, however, the food was really delicious, and our wait staff knowledgeable, friendly, and professional.
Overall a good experience.
This was a very poor experience for us at Pazzaluna. We had an early 5:30 reservation, and we were seated at a table near the front door that was very cold from people coming in and out. We asked to be switched to a different table, but they could not accommodate us. This was confusing as we were going to the Wild game so we would have left by 6:45, well before any of the 7:00 reservations. Our drink order took forever and we had to ask for our bread. Then, our entrees arrived before our salads arrived. We were forced to take our entrees which arrived much too quickly and we just skipped our salads. Our server said she had put the salad order in but that was about all the responsibility that she took. A coffee was added to our bill which we had not ordered. My husband didn't even bother having this taken off of our bill. We normally love Pazzaluna, but this was a bad experience. We left feeling very disappointed in a very expensive meal.
