Great cozy restaurant. It is a shame it closed. The octopus was excellent and cute neighborhood big city vibe.
We had a lovely dinner but I would say the food was not as delicious as previous visits. Brussels sprouts were very tasty and so was the fish special. One desert was a bomb but they are always gracious to take it off the bill. (Ginger)
I will go back again as I love the whole experience. Wait staff is amazing
Pros were the deliciously prepared vegetables and complimentary main dishes. More variety on the menu and wine list would make this restaurant levels better.
Very disappointing. We have been Pax fans for years!
We brought some friends to celebrate a Christmas
Get together. Our drinks and appetizers were great.
Then we waited 40 minutes for our entrees to arrive
Even though the restaurant was not busy. My friend and her daughter ordered their skirt steak medium well — it arrived
Rare to Medium rare. My friend ordered salad with her steak while her daughter ordered fries — they both got salad. The daughter sent her steak bAck to cook some more — it arrived medium rare — it was sent back again and arrived medium. By this time
The mood at the table was spoiled and we asked to just take
The steak off of the check. The manager took the entree off of the check but had an attitude throughout the whole experience
— very condescending and with no empathy about our feelings about the long wait for our entrees and the fact that we had had to send the same dish back three times. She stated that she had taken thx entree off the bill — with an attitude!
I was embarrassed about having recommended this restaurant
To my friends. I was also very sad since I have loved Pax
Americana for years and have often brought guests to share
The wonderful food. Something is very amiss— this is not the restaurant I have loved. I am sad but I do not think that I can return. There are too many other good restaurant s in Houston :(.
I used to love the food at Pax Americana but it was really awful the other night. Not one thing we had tasted right.
Our experience was good enough that we will dine with PAX one more time just to make certain we did not hit an off night.
The service provided by Jonathon was excellent. The music was too loud and not "dinning music". The martinis were served in little champagne style glasses. We had fish and lamb and it was good but not great.
outstanding, highly recommended. nothing overly fancy, just great food in a comfortable, unpretentious setting
This restaurant has wonderful freshly - grilled octopus !
Four of us ate there this Saturday night. The food was very good and the service was attentive. My only complaint is the noise level was too high at times. I would definitely recommend. The price is in line with other restaurants of this caliber
Excellent food. Great friendly service. Wish they had more on drink menu but what we did have was very good. Highlights: Nashville hot chicken, braised pork flank, bread and butter pudding.
Consistently good restaurant. Great place to share small plates but main courses are also very good. Good deserts and good cocktails.
I went on Wednesday night with a friend from out of town. I was embarrassed. The food was horrible. We asked our waitress to recommend something on the menu and her response was "everything is good" LIES! It was the worse food I've ever had here. I was embarrassed that I brought a friend to eat there. We will NOT ever return. And we will be happy to steer friends from this place. The staff was not attentive and we had to catch them as they walked by. I'd understand if the place was packed but it wasn't and that should've been my first clue to the nights fiasco. Horrible all the way around. The best thing we had was water and they had nothing to do with that.
We have enjoyed each time we have eaten at PA. Excellent, unique, chef driven food and very good service.
Went with my girlfriend because the weather was nice, that had a great patio section with lights and citronella candles (for the mosquitoes).
We had the following:
Ricotta with beats - solid
Beef carpaccio - really good
Grilled cauliflower - solid
They had a special for the day that was a 24 oz ribeye, it was cooked perfectly and delicious. It came with fries, and their fries are AWESOME. They double fry them, they are thick fries but they are very crispy and well seasoned. If I went back and didn't have fries as a side for my entree, I would probably order the pimento fries as an appetizer
Overall, really like the vibe. Food and drinks were good.
Amazing. No other word exactly describes how wonderful this place is. The menu was completely different from my first and second visits, making this, my third visit, a whole new experience. And it’s even better this time! We shared Carpaccio, an order of Butternut Squash with Brussel Sprouts and Quinoa and the Pork Shank with red wine poached pears and sweet potato purée. Amazing. Every. Single. Bite. Was. Amazing.
Very nice evening. Great service and excellent food.
Sad to hear that you are closing as of today. We will certainly miss you
We enjoyed the restaurant. Food was fabulous and tasty. Everyone was nice and provided great service. It was my first time and I will return. The large windows make it a great place to be.
Great spot in the museum district. Food and wine were great! Very creative and wonderful service. It was quiet but we went quite early.
My notation on open table that this was a birthday occasion and that a guest, my wife, was vegan was completely ignored. Food was mediocre or oversalted. I can see why there has been a slip in its standings among restaurants. We won't be back.
We shared two appetizers and a main plate. The food was amazing. I was very impressed with the combinations of flavors. I never would've thought to put those things together. Everything we had including dessert was amazing! Not cheap, but definitely NOT overpriced! One of those meals that makes you wonder why you put anything else in your mouth. Delicious!
REALLY great food and great service! Small menu, but very good!
Great food and great service. Free valet parking. Not an extensive menu , but what they serve is delicious. Jackie was fantastic as our server and made several wonderful drink recommendations.
Good food, great service, nice atmosphere, the price is the only con.
The best omelet I have ever had along with a great pastry basket and French toast which my husband and I shared. Great service in relaxed atmosphere on the patio.
HAD A GREAT EVENING. THE SERVICE AND WINE AND FOOD WAS EXCELLENT AND THEN WE WENT OVER TO BAR VIKTOR
Great food; super service
We were treated as we were rushed to order, est and leave. Waitress was cold, impersonal. Brought the check before asking if we are ready for the check.. we were not finished and were going to order a coffee.. coffee was lukewarm and tasted horrible. Did not drink it..!!She poured coffee from a thermos. !!! What was that about???
Also, noise level was so loud, pulling tables, to rearrange sitting area was very disturbing.. they are lucky I did not tweet this that night.
The place was nearly empty so getting a table wasn’t an issue. The brunch menu was pretty standard and the traditional breakfast was made well.
Great waitress ❤️❤️ Super funny and had great recommendations
Food was very good but not great. Atmosphere was disappointing; felt like I was eating at Luby’s
Great experience for my wife’s birthday. Food was exceptional and is meant to be shared. With the 5 of us in our family we were able to try 13 of 21 items on the menu and all were incredibly tasty. Fresh in season ingredients creatively prepared - peaches and chorizo anyone? Jackie was a great server and took good care of us.
Appetizer cheese and side cucumbers was really good, so was the service. My fish was raw on the ends but the ends were cooked to perfection. The fish was not seasoned at all. We also had the $88.00 steak that just fell flat! The quinoa amazing, chicken was great. Trout fishery, no seasoning.
Excellent appetizers, the pita served with the burrata was outstanding. The fried green tomatoes were perfectly crispy, the rib eye (for THREE people!) was done exactly as we requested. The grouper of the day was perfectly cooked.
One of our favorites spots in Houston. Friendly staff, great ambiance, stellar food
Food was excellent and mostly locally sourced--enjoyed the small plates and my fish en papillote. My husband enjoyed his cheeseburger. The service was prompt and attentive.
Wonderful day night location. Food was delicious! We tried the pimento fries (yum), Tagliatelle, chicken, pork chop, and carrots. We had way to much food for two people, but couldn’t resist wanting to sample a few different choices from the menu. The entrees very both so well prepared; very juicy and with unique flavor combinations on the plate that would have us both say we would order them again! It does get a little loud in the restaurant once it fills, but not so loud that you won’t enjoy your dinner and the company!
We were disappointed that Shepherd was no longer here. The food and wine list showed it. So sad😢
This is hands down my favorite restaurant in Houston. The dishes are inventive, seasonal and always delicious.
Not my first time here, but the food was even better than I remembered. Dishes that are classic enough for comfort, but with an interesting enough twist to get excited about. Great for sharing.
