Pappas Restaurant - Parkville
We specialize in after-funeral gatherings.
Short and to the point, this place is wonderful and I would recommend it to anyone.
As always, Pappas Restaurant - Parkville serves the Best Maryland crab cake.
The main dishes were great! The sides were bland and not appealing. Overall the food and drinks were good and the service was excellent.
Our reservation was for 7 people on December 1, 2018. They seated us immediately, even though the restaurant was full. The crab cakes were very good, best in Baltimore. The scallops were delicious and the rib eye steak was excellent. Salads were great and vegetables were also good. I would not order the glazed carrots again. The glaze was thick and tasted of too much ginger. I was expecting an orange and brown sugar light glaze. Desserts were excellent. The cheese cake was very good. The rice pudding was excellent and the chocolate mousse cake was to die for. This meal was exceptional in every way. Would go back every week if I could afford it.
Crab cakes we're the best.
My kids were home for college break and my son was requesting crab cakes so I made a reservation. Crab cakes and service were very good. Our only complaint was that we were seated in adjoining room to the main dining room just beyond the entrance. It was a cold and rainy night and very drafty where we sat.
Great crab cake lunch special with "old" high school friends. Service was not rushed but very attentive so we could share stories. The manager stopped by to say hello.
Gotta love Pappas crabcakes and crab imperial. They are the best in Maryland!!
The visit and food/service was fine, but there was a real disconnect in the reservation. I started an online reservation but cancelled when the information requested was excessive. I have no reason to open an account with username and password just to request a reservation. I cancelled the attempt to reserve online. When I attempted to call to make a reservation I was disconnected each time I called, about 3 times total. I never did speak with a human, so when we arrived I had no idea whether I was expected or would be seated. As it turned out, there was no problem and we had a nice dinner.
The crab cakes really are as good as people say. My friend had the ribs and said they were the best she'd ever eaten.
The food was not as good as it was during the last visit to Pappas. We can tell they had a less experienced chef or cook at that hour. And, my favorite glazed carrots was returned to the kitchen after tasting the first carrot. They served us sandwich rolls instead of dinner rolls, which wasn't tasteful. We went during the lunch hour, and the service was slow and a little tight seating arrangement. Again, I'm hoping this was a 1-day bad experience at Papas and we'll return again for the crab cakes.
Absolutely fantastic dinner! It was fish with crab meat in a lemon butter caper sauce. (It was a special) and each bite was incredible. Their crab cakes are also fantastic.
Always seem to end up there for the crabcakes- excellent.
Great meal with excellent service. Crab ball appetizers were amazing.
This was the perfect dinner setting with my family. The restaurant specialty meals and well known crab cakes was delicious and divine to taste. We’ll plan this visit again in the future.
I moved to NJ and miss Maryland Crab cakes. I discovered the old Hales was now Pappas, and took my sister out to dinner. We were very pleased: The dinner starts with crunchy half pickled cucumbers, that went perfectly with the perfect crab cake which was enormous. A Maryland crab cake, bake potato and asparagus, we were both in heaven. Friendly, accommodating staff, good service, a fine meal!
First time after leaving Michaels because of menu and pricing change. Looked at numbers of crab cake resturants but Pappas is now the only one we will regularly visit. Super crabcake and all else great. Thanks for a great value dinner
I would give this spot 10 stars if it were an option. Food is absolutely delicious.
Never disappoints. We brought friends from Lancaster, PA just for the crabcakes. Also took extra crabcakes home with us. Yum!
Food was really good crab cakes are among some of the better ones. They also know when to stop adding sugar to iced tea. Not too sweet
Two of us had the crab cakes and the others had the salmon. Very delicious! The side baked potato was great too. Love the old school ambiance of this place and the serving staff is always wonderful. Excellent draft beer selections too! The bar scene looked fun as well.
It was a birthday.
I come here every year for my birthday, and I get the fried oysters. this year I was a little disappointed because my oysters were a little over done
Otherwise it was a good time
We celebrated my birthday there, the food was great, and our server was excellent.
We “googled” and found Pappa’s ~ What a great place! The crab cake was AMAZING! Tim, our bartender was very attentive and made some great drinks. Manny, our waiter, was great! He was personable, knowledgeable, fast, and efficient. He definitely is an asset that Pappa’s hopefully appreciates and acknowledges.
The food was excellent. The location for our reservation could have been in a more private location. Sitting behind the reservation booth was not the best location to have a large group. Although, it did not cause a great disadvantage, it's just my personal opinion. We loved the service received from our server and culinary staff.
i ordered the rock fish with crab and this was the first time i was unhappy with the quality of the food . if i had to identify the fish i was served i would not have guessed it was rock fish. it was tasteless.
Have been going to Pappas for many years. The past two visits have not been up to their usual excellent food. The crab cakes were dry. I thing Justin needs to spend some time at the Parkville location and bring it back to the the high standards that it was.
My second time eating here and I love it. I got crab imperial each time. Seafood is excellent.
Great classic Maryland seafood
Crab dishes a must
Had Crab Imperial and it was excellent
Best Crabcakes you ever want to eat! The other fish options are great too! Service is awesome!
As usual, the crab cakes did not disappoint. The cowboy rib eye steak was one of the night's specials and was also excellent. The cream of crab soup was pretty good but would have been better had it been less pasty and had included a bit more crab meat. The steamed shrimp ordered as an appetizer for the table was a hit. Cocktails were very well done. We went on a Friday evening and the restaurant was not 100% full but because there was a large party going on in the event space parking was quite the challenge.
Always Great! Love the crab cakes. Very consistent.
We had a good time, we was seated soon after we was greeted. The waitress was plight and consistent.
I usually like to go to Pappas for their crab cakes. On this visit I was disappointed. It was not up to their usual standard. The middle of the cake was undercooked. I also noticed that there were fewer patrons yesterday. Am I the only one that noticed the difference. Would Oprah be disappointed?
My husband and I went to Pappas for the first time on a date night - we love seafood and they have a great reputation. I had the crab cake and it was phenomenal. Our waiter was young but well trained, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The restaurant was full with a range of customers - couples, families, friends... lots of special occasions going on which was fun to be around. There are clearly a lot of regulars which is always a great sign. We'll be back!
Best Crabcakes that I’ve had in a restaurant in longer than I can remember. The service was good and Pappas’ was friendly.
I will have to admit these were the best crab cakes I have ever had and I am a guy who eats around. The crab soup was fantastic. The salad was fine. The triple baked potato was very tasty, although I would have thought it would be in a potato skin and would have preferred this.
Crab cakes were fine. Dining area kind of dark. I would have gathered the dining room next to where we were seated. Much livelier and what one would have expected.
More lighting and prettier. Food ok. Not what I expected. Good menu. I will go again.
It was my sister's birthday, and the waiter came and wished her Happy Birthday during our appetizer. Later, she received a complimentary dessert. The food was delicious. We chose a crab dip appetizer to share, and I'll never figure out how they prepared the crispy on the outside, soft on the inside bread wedges to go with them.....sometimes a restaurant with a well-known and built-up reputation, like Pappa's, doesn't feel like they have to go the extra mile, but this one does, complete with a stop-by visit from Mr. Pappa, to talk to my husband, who is a Viet Nam Vet. He didn't even call on his own name value. I recognized him from many pictures over many years. A delightful afternoon. Oh, by the way, the crabcakes, were predicably awesome! My eighty-three year old sister ate every bite of Pappa's "Colossal Crabcake!", plus Pappa's home-made applesauce is like I've never tasted before...….yummy!
