I checked the menu online before going because i wanted to make sure i would like something . The were 5 dishes for me to choose from. But when I got there they had a special Fathers Day Menu. None of the dishes I wanted were listed. It was mostly seafood I do not eat seafood I know they are known for crabcakes So I took my Husband there after making sure they would have something i could eat. They did not. I got Chicken Chesapeake It was very dry after I took off the crabcake. Also I asked for a hurricane to drink Instead of saying he did not know how to make it he brought me a glass of brown liquid that tasted awful. I would not go there again or tell anyone else to. Plenty of places have crabcakes
My husband received a gift certif as part of an award from work! First time here and it was amazing !! Good food , great wine and excellent service !!! we will be back !!!
The crab cakes were wonderful as usual. My only complaint is that they could have some more interesting and different side dishes.
My wife and I went to Pappas to celebrate our 51st anniversary. We did have a nice evening.
We arrived a few minutes early and were seated immediately. Our server was very attentive.
There is a good reason for Pappas being known for their crab cakes. Mine was delicious. My wife liked her stuffed shrimp. The price was fair for a very good meal.
We plan to return. I will order the crab cake again.
Wife and I both got the crab cakes. Have to say these are probably the best in Baltimore. Highly recommend.
i have been going to Pappas for years......this time was the worst.....The wedge salad was bad, there was no dressing, so i asked for so extra....after pouring it on and tasting, i realized it was tartar sauce. The knife i had could neither cut the lettuce nor the green beans. A second drink was ordered but came terribly late. I then ordered more tartar sauce for my crabcake (delicious as always) and the waitress came after the meal looked and apologized for not bringing it. We had asked for bread when offered, it never came. All in all a disaster of a meal.
The crab cake was nasty. I had high speciations and was truly displeased. No flavor in the crab cake, string beans or mashed potatoes.
We had a great time, we arrived a little early for our reservation but were seated anyway. One in our party needed to use the elevator and was helped by the wait staff. The food was great, everyone was pleased with their entree. At no time did we feel rushed, nothing was too much trouble for our waiter. We will be back in the near future.
Although we had been to Pappa's many times, this was the first time going there on a Saturday night. The place was packed and reservations were essential. The dining room was very noisy so conversation was difficult (we all agreed that it is best to come at a less busy time...). Although we had requested seating in a certain area of the restaurant in order to best accommodate the 97-year-old in our party who needs to use a wheelchair and has very limited mobility, the restaurant seated us in the main dining room so it was not possible to use the wheelchair because there is not quite enough room between the tables (no explanation was offered - we assumed it was simply too busy). Five of us ordered the crabcake dinner - which was excellent (seriously good crab cakes. The cowboy rib-eye steak offered as one of the nightly specials was also very good. I would not recommend the grilled pork chops - they looked good and tasted ok but were very tough. The cream of crab soup was also very tasty. Service was pretty good, although there was quite a long time between soups and entrees, (again, it was a very busy night...) and we all left full and happy.
Excellent crab cake - we were there for a late lunch so restaurant was quiet - usually mobbed at lunch. Great service, great food.
Very good seafood, a good value. Excellent crab cakes, fish, etc.
We took some out-of-town friends here for dinner, since you can't visit Baltimore without sampling some crab. Everyone was very happy with their meals! The crab bisque, crab-stuffed shrimp, and imperial crab were all hits. Too full for dessert.
Crab balls are better than cakes because they are cooked thru. Sometimes the cakes are rushed leaving the middle lukewarm and mush. Mashed potatoes were tasteless and barely warm. If they were hotter I would have added a little butter and pepper. I ate them anyway but in a hurry so they wouldn't get cold.
Out of town guests we took to the best crab cake place in the us
Food was great as usual
Service a little slow but gave us time to talk
We arrived a little early, but were still seated immediately. Our server was attentive and nice. Food is excellent
I never fill out these things but it was great food and the service was the best I’ve ever had!
It was a pleasurable experience. Our reservation was for 8pm and we were seated promptly. Our table wasn't in best location, but we requested another table and there was a smooth transition to the next table. The food was excellent. I ordered a fountain soda (Root Beer) and it was horrible. Our waitress promptly replaced it with another choice. I will continue to dine there, especially with out-of-town friends.
We had a family gathering for a special occasion and were delighted with the menu. There was something for everyone. The food was outstanding, especially items featuring crabmeat! And the service was great. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Great food; great service.
We truly enjoyed the crab cakes. They are out of this world. We literally drove 750 miles to get them for our anniversary. We even made the wall of Fame for eating three cakes and the sides. Just waiting to see us on Facebook.
Great experience and our waitress was awesome!! Limited parking though..
We had lunch for Mother's Day. It was very busy but our reservation was honored and we were seated promptly. Our server was friendly and attentive. The rolls were served hot and were soft and delicious. Each of us ordered seafood and all of us enjoyed our meals. Not our first time here and definitely not our last. Highly recommend, especially for the crab cakes.
We had a great time, good was great and the services even better.
Tonight surprisingly was not a good Pappas experience.
Fortunately my guest enjoyed her dinner and was pleased to also take home my dinner which remained untouched.
Next time, back to the tried and true crab cake.
Keep coming back bringing more friends to enjoy all!!
Pappas has consistently GREAT crabcakes and does a fine job on the rest of their meals as well. If you are looking for good crabcakes in the time-honored Maryland tradition, this is the place to go!
The lightening was very dark. Very hard to see the menu. Others were complaining as well.
We have been to Pappas a couple times in the past three weeks, all on Sunday afternoons.
Each time, we found the place to be not too noisy, as it has been on several occasions, and
all three times, our tables were not right up against another table, where we could hear
every word that was being said. That being said, Pappas is still one of our faves.
We visited Pappas with a family group for Sunday lunch. My husband and I wanted to introduce my parents and our nephew to the crab cakes, and the location was convenient to the next place on our itinerary. The service was wonderful. Our server had no problem dealing with a large table and was quick with drink refills and anything else we needed. We all ordered seafood, either crab cakes or oysters, and the food was delicious. While the restaurant was pretty full, it was still quiet enough to hear each other, and our round table made it easy to carry on a conversation. Pappas is a great place to take out-of-town family and friends for a glimpse of what Baltimore does best: Excellent seafood dishes in a friendly, unpretentious setting.
pappas is always an enjoyable way to spend lunch or dinner time. the food is excellent
and the waiters are very pleasant and willing to please you. we've been there many times and will be returning. the only downfall is in the main dining room. we've had to sit there before and felt like we were dining with the people at the table next to us, too close. outer area when you come in the door off lot was wonderful.
Visiting from Petersburg, VA. Love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. Service was well-timed and friendly. Great food!! Waitress and staff was great!! Enjoyed the entire experience. I will absolutely visit again, the next time I am in town.
My girlfriend and I have been to all 3 Pappas locations. The crab cake at all of them is the best that we have had in a long time. It is almost entirely meat with virtually no filler. The other menu options are quite good as well.
We originally tried the Cockeysville location but the earliest reservation was 8:30 PM so I checked the Parkville location and was able to get a 7:30 PM seating.
Keep up the good work!
Papas Restaurant is known for their crab cakes and they never disappoint! They are huge and full of lump crab and no filling. They are also cooked to perfection! Service was great too!
Great crab cakes and the ribeye was on point! Favorite crab cakes by far in Baltimore. I take everyone here for their first crab cake!
First time trying this place and I must say it was absolutely amazing hands down best crabcake
very good as always. Just not a fan of the upstairs dining room. No ambiance. Drinks were a bit slow to arrive through no fault of our server!! He was great! No bartender on second floor so servers had to run up and down the stairs for drinks.
We had the crab cakes, lovely
We come for the crab cakes, which are among the best in the area ( and that means among the best in the world). But the rest of the food is very good, too. We especially like the marinated cucumber/celery that is complementary with every meal. It's very refreshing. We also like the ambience, the decor, the people-watching.
The best crab cake I've ever had! No fillers or bread. Delicious sides and outstanding sangria
