Pappas Restaurant - Parkville
Good food in great surroundings. Second time eating here. Pleasantly surprised with bill.
Had a 5:00 p.m. reservation, didn't get seated until 5:35. Food was delicious, service was okay (waiter never came back to check on how our food was), thankfully it was delicious. Other than taking our order (someone else brought out our food), the next time we saw the waiter is when we flagged him down for the check.
We have always been happy with the quality of food at Pappas, Parkville. They truly do have the best crab cakes you could ever imagine!
We actually had a good time until the end when the manager in a loud voice stated to a waiting party that the table has paid their bill and we are just waiting for them to leave. It was totally uncalled for. Yes we had been there almost three hours. Catching up with friends we had not seen in over a year. All they had to do was come over and ask us if we could leave or to suggest we go into the bar area. To have handled it they way they had kinda ruined the whole evening. Most likely will not go back.
Went there for St. Valentine's day for a special dinner. Wanted a low noise dinner without a million TVs. Had the surf and turf. Crab cake was great and the filet was perfectly cooked to my request. Will definitely go back again.
We’ve been going here for years. Nice atmosphere. The food is great and the wait staff is friendly and attentive. It’s well worth the price.
Delicious Valentines Day meal complete with crab cakes and crab balls. Service a bit slow for regular day but understandable for Valentines Day.
Valentine ‘s Day - just not up to their usual quality. There was plenty of room so I’m not sure why our waiter disappeared at the end and it took 20 min to get our bill. There was a fixed menu which shouldn’t have surprised me except that all of the dishes were several dollars more than usual and they offered only one green veg (asparagus which my husband doesn’t like.). The cream of crab soup, usually their best item, was watery with very little claw crab meat. Disappointing expensive dinner.
Seated immediately, with good food and good service.
Always good food. Get there early, because parking can be an issue.
Good Food with a decent sized menu to choose from. Friendly service
I wanted to enjoy my friends, I am vegan, the only thing for me was salad and french fries, wow its 2019. I will never go back a others had complaints, I wish to Thank my waitress she was great, even with the check issue. I apologize to any discomfort she may have felt but I will never go back. Thanks
Tables were too close. Food was delicious.
I was a little annoyed by the cleaning person that kept coming over near my table every 5 minutes. But other than that it was good!
The food at Pappas is always delicious. The one disappointment is that there is NOT a gluten free menu at their Parkville location. As a person with Celiac disease, this is important to me. Though Pappas is known for the fabulous crab cakes, this location does NOT offer a gluten free option. Being from Maryland, most restaurants known for their crab cakes offer a gluten free option. This will influence my choice of restaurants in the future.
They should pay more attention to vegetables, baked potatoes were cold, and so were the vegetables.
We went to Pappas for restaurant week. We each got a 3-course meal for about $35. I had never been there before, so I wanted to try their famous crabcakes, which did not disappoint. They were made with huge lumps of crabmeat and very little filler. They did contain green and red peppers, which I don't like but the pieces were small enough to not ruin the flavor for me. Overall, great meal and great service.
We enjoyed having dinner here to celebrate a birthday!
Food was delicious and service was great! Unfortunately, they were installing carpet in a section of the restaurant and the smell of the glue used to adhere the carpet was overwhelming. Poor planning on the part of management.
We asked for lemon meringue pie to go and got apple pie. Very disappointing when we got home.
Three of us went for a birthday dinner and had a great time; Brittany is an excellent waitress and the chef was able to accommodate my dietary restrictions with no problem. The crabcake was outstanding; rockfish excellent, veggies perfect and the rice pudding Yummy. Specialty crush drink just so-so. Would definitely return.
Nice meal, friendly staff tasty beverages.
We had a very good waitress. She made sure our meal was good, kept us supplied with drinks. I love the atmosphere here, you can dress up or down.
The crab cakes are delicious,,,,plenty of lump crab meat and no filler. The salads were fresh and crispy.
What a fabulous place for crab cakes. Fantastic value for lunch! Worth every minute of the drive up from moco.
The world's best crab cakes. The side dishes do not taste so fresh and are overcooked.
Always a pleasure to eat there. My husband and I take our friends there for lunch and dinner treats. The double crab cakes are our thing!!!!
Fabulous! Absolutely exceptional crab cakes! Every time I come home to MD, I insist on stopping at a Pappas restaurant for crab cakes. Absolutely the best in the country, probably the world! There are no fillers added, just lump backfin crab meat. Thank you & please open a restaurant in VA Beach!
We asked for a table where we could talk to old friends we hadn’t seen in a while. The table we were given was quiet, but it was also practically on top of the ramp at the main entrance. One of us had to move several times to let people use the ramp, and cold air from the door swirled around us. Still, the food was good, the house brand ipa was excellent, and the wait staff were attentive.
All 4 of us had to send soup back as it was room temperature.
Crab cake was thick on one side and thin on another side, making the thin side dry.
Not our most memorable trip to Parkville Pappas
our group had a great time ,food was excellent. our server was very friendly & attentive. pappas' get our recommendation for a good dining experience.
ran out of asparagus aand substituted beans - wiwtwhout asking! Also ran out of baked potato. Well run restaurant does NOT do that at 7;30!
It's become a tradition to visit Pappas for my wife's birthday dinner. We actually began revisiting the restaurant in 2013 when our daughter surprised us with our 25th anniversary dinner in the same room as our wedding reception on Thanksgiving Eve, in 1988. This year we invited my father and my sisters since back in May my mom passed away. Great food for a great value. My sisters were even talking about how there aren't many intimate restaurants around anymore.
Our family went for my daughter's 50th birthday celebration. We had reservations - some came a little late and you were accommodating with no problem. Most of us got the crab cake dinner and found the crab cake lived up to it's reputation of being the best all lump crab meat and the seasoning was good. The only complaint was in ordering the twice baked potato it seemed more like cafeteria style - served in a tin foil cup instead of small dish or the potato skin itself. The taste as I said was more institutional not what you would expect at the prices charged for up scale restaurant. The staff was accommodating in that we brought a birthday cake and were provided with dishes etc. Other that the twice baked potato - it was a good experience because the staff made sure we were attended to with drinks and clearing the table for next service.
Went there Friday 12/21 for my birthday. Called and made a reservation for 7:00. When I got there I was told that my entire party had to be there. Didn’t understand why if I had a reservation. We didn’t get seated until close to 8 because then someone was at our table. They waitress was great and the food was delicious. I’d come back again....without a reservation!
I ordered the 8 oz .crab cake dinner. Although it doesn't sound big, the crab cake was huge. Broiled to perfection, well worth the value. The service was very good, been here several times and have never been disappointed. Highly recommend Pappas to anyone looking for an excellent dinner experience.
Holiday dinner with a coworker. Very prompt service. Food good.
Our visit to Pappas was very enjoyable; so much so that we planned to return another time so we could sample other menu options. The staff was very accommodating, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was fitting for large or small groups.
The food was good, and our table service was attentive, but not intrusive, however such initial disappointment and embarrassment upon entering the restaurant will have me going to other area crab/seafood restaurants for business.
Short and to the point, this place is wonderful and I would recommend it to anyone.
