PAON Restaurant & Wine Bar
Steve will always take care of you and make a special evening. The food is fantastic and wine is a selection that cannot be missed.
Food was excellent! Staff was super attentive.
Delicieux et Fantastique!
As usual, Steve greeted us in his always cheerful manner and made us feel welcome. George, our waiter did an excellent job as he always does. The food was fantastic, especially my favorite, the escargot. I had the grilled chicken and my wife had the pheasant and both were perfect.
My feeling about a fine restaurant is that mostly anyone can prepare a good meal, but the most important things are ambiance and good service and Paon gets five stars in both categories.
We have dined at Paon many times and will continue to do so.
Food was great, patio dining was great. One of the wines by the glass was too old, but we got a better one.
Interesting menu with creative preparations. I enjoyed fantastic east coast diver scallops served over tomato ragout that included small pieces of lobster meat. There were four large lobsters which I believe are the U-10 (ten per pound). My wife had a nice piece of grilled salmon, also a generous serving with mixed vegetables.
What a wonderful restaurant and fantastic food. Selection of wines was also very good and servers were very attentive. My husband loved the fresh warm french bread that was served and I have to say the lamb was incredible!
While the food was delicious and our server was attentive and knowledgable, I have a hard time getting past the extreme markup on wines. Ended up settling on a not-favorite $80 ($20 anywhere else) bottle to keep it under $100. Otherwise... a very enjoyable dining experience. Yes; I could have had water.
An excellent restaurant. Food is great. Wine list extraordinary. Our party of 8 ordered varied appetizers and entrees and every one was happy.
Good food and ambiance, but be prepared to spend a ton. Went with some friends for dinner after having read reviews that sounded great. The food is good, but it is way over priced. Our server told us about the dinner specials, but did not mention prices. The entire table ordered special entrees and I was very surprised at how expensive the specials were relative to the menu entrees. The food does not justify the prices.
The food was wonderful. However, our server was aloof and when asked questions seemed too bothered to answer. The server made me feel as if we were not “the type” of customers he preferred. He seemed more interactive with other patrons. The maitre d’ and the man who brought bread were very welcoming. But, based on this server, and despite the great food, I will not be back.
We were a party of six, celebrating a special birthday. Everything was perfect for a special occasion. We all chose a different entree, and were all very happy. I had the sea bass special which just melted in my mouth. So delicious.
Great food, service and ambiance.
The French onion soup was pureed and was uniquely fabulous.
I took my wife for our anniversary.
I must say that the service at this place is absolutely outstanding. Everything went perfect, and our server was gentle, discreet, attentive.
The food is very very good. My wife loved the oysters Rockefeller and a duo of duck. I loved my Stilton salad. The pheasant was little dry, but still very much enjoyable (with a delicious mushroom risotto).
The wine list is wonderful. Many many interesting options from all over the world, with a decent price range for every occasion. We had a Chilean carmenere that fit perfectly to the food.
The ambiance is also very nice, and great for either a cozy romantic dinner or a happy meeting of friends.
We will keep coming back!
Birthday dinner and dessert was wonderful
We enjoyed this restaurant so much that we returned a second time in 48 hours. There were several items we wanted to try, and the first visit was so good that we just has to return. Matt and Ivan were superb servers and the fresh tastes and preparations delighted us. The restaurant also has an excellent and reasonably priced wine list.
I had an excellent experience. The cuisine was stunning, and the service fabulous.
The food was fine. I ordered the duck confit and have had better at many places. My friends seemed to enjoy their dishes more than mine. Bread is fantastic, as is the service and ambiance (outdoor patio).
Great service.attention to detail. Interesting menu . A bit noisy at first ( 7 pm res), but quieter later in the evening.
We had a wonderful meal and excellent service. We had the yellowfin tuna and a steak special, both cooked to perfection. I would highly recommend Paon especially for a special occasion.
The food was great! Good wine selection.
We arrived a half hour early and opted for a glass of wine in the bar instead of early seating. The bartender, Matthew, was friendly, relaxed, and efficient. We had a great time and enjoyed the wine, so left a good tip when we moved to the dining room. There were few folks left and 2 waiters. Ours was fine, but he wasn’t getting my subtle hint to not fill our wine glasses so aggressively. These hints have always worked in the past, but his response was basically you keep drinking and I’ll keep pouring. Well, ok, not really a problem. Otherwise the service was fine and the food exceptional. We had the sweetbreads and the scallops first, then amazing pheasant and tender, delicious cervina for dinner. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. Only one other table by then and no one came out to check on us. We had emphasized that we were totally finished, but no check. Not wanting to be “that guy”, I didn’t go looking until a good 15 minutes had passed, and without going into detail, it was still quite a chore to get a bill. A bad ending to an otherwise great evening. I was in the service industry all my career, including waiting table, and very important - never make the customer wait for the bill when they are ready to go!
I could go into a lot of boring detail but I won't. Suffice to say that New Years Eve at Paon was one of the worst dining experiences of my life. Sadly it was also one of the most expensive. I wish we had stayed home for peanut butter and jam.
Not a “regular” here, but once a year when we’re in town. Always feel slightly ignored. Food always good, never exceptional. Menu never changes. Asked about evening specials and were told none available. Shortly after waiter at the next table discussed the evenings specials for his clients. Came often when we lived in the area, much less so now but beginning to wonder why we still come back.
Always excellent food & service.
Every time we go, it never disappoints! What a great place!
Sharply dressed manager was attentive and made our evening very enjoyable. Thank you PAON!
We have been at Paon many times but this was the first time I ordered the special, Sea Bass. Without a doubt it was the best Sea Bass I have ever had. It was delicious. The food and service at Paon is always good and consistent. We have never had a bad meal or a problem. I can highly recommend this restaurant.
