Palomino - Seattle
Our appetizers were good. The mahi mahi was over cooked and steelheads sauce was not tasty.
Good downtown Seattle location. Our dinners and drinks were decent and we enjoyed our evening out.
Decent food, not as great as I expected from the reviews. Was in the bar area and the employees there chatted too loudly with each other about customers and other immature topics. Would have been a nicer experience if they were a bit more professional.
Don’t know that I’d return.
Let me preface with the statement that I am an optimistic person. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt whenever something seems off, but this experience warrants noting, and is not in any way someone who is jaded and just leaving a poor review.
The occasion was New Years Eve, as well as a friend’s birthday. My wife and I took our friend to dinner to celebrate. It appears as though a limited menu was provided due to NYE, but no worries. I do enjoy a limited menu; they’re generally full of things that the chef specializes in. I order prime rib, my wife ordered scallops with lemon orzo, and our friend ordered the salmon. No complaints on the salmon. That was fantastic. My prime rib was the saltiest piece of meat I’ve ever had the displeasure of eating. Not just the outer seasoning, mind you, but the entire cut of meat was so so salty. Lots of gristle and silver, which is inedible. My wife’s scallops were perfect, but the orzo was undercooked.
Our waiter was a space case. Twice he offered a wine pairing to a person who stated they do not drink and is not interested. He put the water pitcher into our friend’s food while filling glasses, he didn’t know what an “end cut” is on prime rib, he asked us how our food was, but immediately walked away without giving us the opportunity to answer.
For a $200 bill, I felt like the quality of the food was lacking and the service was abysmal. The ambiance/setting was good, and it was quiet so that we didn’t need to raise our voices to speak across the table, which I appreciated. It’s no Daniel’s Broiler, but they charged like it was.
Great food in a nice setting.
The food was good. However since it was New Years Eve the bar was not open. The menu was limited due to the holiday. I was disappointed due to the fact that the bar was closed it took away from the feel of the restaurant and made it less fun. The menu was limited as well which was annoying. Food was good. However, my husband did not like his options and really wanted Italian (it is an Italian rest) and there was NOTHING ITALIAN on the menu. I wish I would have picked somewhere else. The ambiance and the food menu was seriously lacking and honestly ruined the experience I was hoping to achieve for my husband. Will not go back on a HOLIDAY.
Great NYE dinner. They did have a special holiday menu which was smaller than the regular menu but there was still a nice selection
Our main issue was the price of the entrees. I feel like we were misled because we specifically picked this restaurant for the reasonable prices ($30 and under). The prices were hiked up for NYE and were exorbitant for what we got. The ambience was pretty mediocre, especially with those prices. Wish we had gone elsewhere.
The food was amazing and the service was exceptional! Our waitress was awesome even though she had some difficult tables around us. The manager even came out and checked on each of the tables! Definitely plan on eating here again.
The atmosphere is fantastic and the food is superb. We went for dinner before a show at the 5th Avenue.
The restaurant was maybe 1/2 ful (not busy). The waiter arrived at the table; I ordered a glass of wine; he then asked immediately "do you know what you want for dinner" - strange phrasing and the wrong place to start. I looked at my guest and I asked "what would you like to drink"; the waiter took the other drink order and then immediately asked my guest about ordering dinner. I could go on but instead I will say that I felt the wait staff was unnecessarily pushy - like a busy diner with customers lined up waiting for tables. The initial drinks did not arrive until after the appetizer and the staff attempted to remove the appetizer three times before it was finished. The food was good and the setting was nice - but I won't be back.
The general manager, Paul and the lead hostess, Ari went above and beyond managing our group on short notice. I've gone to Palomino for more than 20 years, and while it had been awhile since since my last visit this experience as well as the food reminded me why you can always count on them. Consistent great service and food!
Great food, excellent service, awesome dining experience!
This was a huge disappointment. The food quality was poor and the service was subpar. This restaurant used to be good and has gone downhill.
We found a hair in our salad and once the manager addressed the incident she completely blow us off and said the it must have came from outside. Because of how she dealt with this I don’t think we’ll be coming back.
The staff was very friendly, especially the hostess and the manager. The food was very good but the service was a disappointment.
The food was very average....absolutely nothing stood out.
Our server CJ was top notch though and made the evening enjoyable
A disappointing experience. Everything average except for the service, which was good.
Terrific post-theater place with very good food. Done it more than a dozen times and will do more.
The food was excellent as is almost always the case. The only drawbacks were a few boisterous groups and the entrees arriving a bit sooner than we expected.
The service was terrific and the ambiance, lovely. The food was mediocre. I am hoping that we just ordered the wrong items and that if we return different items will be better. The bruschetta is still fabulous!
Came for a family dinner to Seattle to see some Christmas lights and have some dinner. Would have been a nice evening, but unfortunately
Excellent service, good food for crowds, fantastic pre- theatre dining very accommodating for splitting the bill.
Food and service was very good. Only wish they had more desert options and some basic entrees that kids might be more happy with
The food is excellent and the prices very reasonable. On can actually have a conversation while at Palomino's as the noise level is controlled. The service over the years has always been excellent and that level of service is one of many reasons I come often for business luncheons and other gatherings.
Great service and good. Good for before or after theater dining.
We had reservations and were seated quickly. The service was very good and food was quite good as well. We told them we had a show so they got everything to us quickly (except the bill). I would just ask for the check sooner next time while we have the waiter during busy times.
Good place to eat before going to 5th Avenue Theater
Father-daughter lunch and play
Our waiter really took care of my Granddaughters. I really appreciated him!! Great waiter!
I go to Palomino every time I go to 5th Avenue Theatre, which is multiple times per year. I always enjoy the food and the restaurant in general, however, this is one of the few times that I can say that the service was poor. The week before last when we went, the service started late, but after that it was top notch as usual. This time the waitress just did not connect with us at the table. Long periods of waiting. Few checkbacks to ask if we needed anything. The appetizer came after the meal was served. My grandniece and her friend are both 10, but the waitress just assumed they would make a mess and served their drinks in plastic cups with lids. Last week, their drinks were served in glasses and had lemon slices and looked pretty. My great niece was disappointed, and she was the one who asked to return to Palomino this week. I was so disappointed this time after so many times dining at this restaurant and getting the best and most courteous service.
We went before our viewing of "Annie". We had a wonderful, enthusiastic, knowledgeable server. She was cheerful and helpful with our dietary allergies. The food was delicious and we all were happy with what we ordered. I was amazed to be served 7 large scallops.
Pretty place and nice to get a theater discount. Food was mediocre but service was good.
Love their bread and tomato topping to start off the meal. Scallops were excellent--cooked to perfection and served while still hot. Their Chopped Salad is always a big favorite. They have done a good job of updating their menu and keeping the favorites.
Our favorite “go to” restaurant on date night. Excellent food and service, free parking, half-price wine on Wednesday, what’s there not to like. I honestly do not have one negative comment to make. ‘Love this restaurant.
Over the last several years the food quality at Palomino has declined steadily. It is near my office so I am there regularly anyway.
This visit the kitchen was slow, and while my salmon was properly (lightly) cooked, it was served in a bowl which was odd, and then it was swimming in a tomato puree which was again, odd and incongruous. As is often the case now, the menu seems to be really uninspired.
Great variety of standard menu items and seasonal specials. A good choice to please all.
We weren’t taken care of by anyone until one of the experienced waiters saw us after sitting for some time. He immediately Shang into action and everything was fine after that
My 10 year old granddaughter recommended your restaurant....lol! She obviously has great taste. I will be back for sure!!! I was impressed with the food, ambiance, service AND for us seniors, it was quiet enough to have a conversation. THANKS!!!!
