If your surroundings don't clue you in, your first glance at the menu will. Painted Pony is not your standard fare. Contemporary American cuisine evidently doesn't mean just another good steakhouse, and the simply written food descriptions promise something new and intriguing for your palate.
The Painted Pony has perfected the fine art of using fresh ingredients and delicate flavoring. An exceptional wine list, generous portions, attentive service, and reasonable prices will convince you to return to "the Pony" anytime you're in St. George.
Monday - Saturday: 11:30am - 4:00pm
Monday - Saturday: 4:00pm - 10:00pm,
Sunday: 4:00pm - 9:00pm
Smaller groups can reserve the garden room for a small room charge.
Larger parties (up to 65 guests) can use the back half of the restaurant which would be closed off to the public.
Over rated. Good but not great. Inconsistent. Surroundings are nice. Always has some eclectic items.
Wonderful food, ambience, and the waiters are fabulous.
What a fun, delicious spot, tucked away in the heart of St. George. I was craving a steak, and wow did they ever deliver. Our entire experience was more than expected. Our waitress made spot on recommendations and made our night spectacular. The meat/cheese appetizer should not be skipped!
My wife and I eat lunch here regularly and the food and service is always excellent. We really love the meat loaf which cannot be beat. If you make a reservation see if the "Pony Table" is available. It is worth the request.
Always a good meal to look forward to.
We will return again.
Dinner was excellent. Beet salad was superb. Hangar steak was perfectly prepared. Ravioli and sauce quite tasty.
Best in St. George! one of my favorites ever. I eat here whenever I'm in St. George
We enjoyed the Painted Pony. The appetizers were fine - carrot and jalapeno soup was ok as was the salad. The special tenderloin and scallops was very good. The hostess was lovely and our service was good. The restaurant is kind of dark. I thought it was a good meal but not as good as the reviews I had seen online.
Excellent food with great service. Loved it. Would recommend it whole heartedly.
Wonderful experience and delicious food!
Outstanding food - prepared and presented in beautiful fashion. Very nice setting with great views from panoramic windows. Best dining experience in Southern Utah.
Was looking forward to 5th visit, but sadly was disappointed. Entree was more than half fat and undercooked. Side dish was same as TV dinner fare. Needed water, but busser disappeared for second half. Even with gift card, paid twice as much as meal was worth. This place used to be best in town, but not any more. It's just sad to see the quality slip.
I ordered the halibut special with mashed potatoes. I got a small piece of fish and the serving (without exaggeration) of mashed potatoes was slightly more than a tablespoon. The food was excellent but I left hungry after spending well over $100.
We had GREAT service, FANTASTIC food and a pleasant window seat looking out as a guitarist played for tourists and guest passing by. It was a wonderful night.
I live in Las Vegas and go to a lot of fine dining restaurants. I have to say our server at Painted Pony provided service that was impeccable and equal to any fine dining establishment. I feel bad for not remembering her name, but I think it was Carina. The food was fantastic and the presentation made it even better. This is my new favorite restaturant and nothing in St George compares.
As far as I’m concerned the best place to eat in St. George. Great food and wonderful service. Creative and at the same time comfortable both for food and ambiance. A great romantic spot for me to go with my guy.
The service was rushed even though the server assured us it would be spaced.
Excellent dinner, wonderful staff and always a treat to eat here! Definitely a favorite restaurant of ours!
The food and service was excellent.
Loved every minute of being at the Painted Pony. We selected this restaurant for our 35th wedding anniversary night out. And we would go back each and every time, from our server, John, who was great, to the delicious and gorgeous quail appetizers, delightful wine, perfectly created dinner, it was a terrific evening! Perfect! Going back soon!
Had another great dinner at this delightful restaurant. The Brie appetizer was to die for, and the tenderloin really hit the spot. We will be back.
We visited the Painted Pony for lunch to celebrate the birthday of a good friend. We always take those we love to this restaurant for special events as we are never disappointed with the food or service. Brian provided the excellent service we've come to expect and the food was wonderful as always. Thank you to the very best staff around!
Excellent in all respects. Highly recommended.
This is the most enjoyable place in St George for lunch. The prices are quite reasonable also. It is made even more special by the hostess, Kimberly. She always treat me and my guests like we are special. You must keep her!!!
Great food, but the service was lacking. We had to wait for drinks, food, plate clearance , raw sugar for our Irish coffee and finally the bill. Our server was really trying but she had far too many tables to handle by her self. The restaurant needs to add more servers or additional help for the servers. I would have rated the restaurant higher, but the service really was not up to par for the food and ambience.
The Painted Pony is one of my new Favorite Places for Fine Dining. The service was exceptional and the food was beyond amazing along with creative and delicious! I would definitely suggest this place!
Still the best restaurant in St. George. Food and service were excellent. Thanks for treating brown people with respect.
Imaginative, superb quality food, well presented. Service was above & beyond. Good wine list. Definitely worth going out of your way for!
We kept seeing Painted Pony when searching for restaurants and finally went on our last night. We were so glad we found it! Great food and service. We loved the atmosphere. Beet salad is a work of art. We enjoyed the quail, bacon-wrapped duck and bone-in pork chop. Cocktails on a Sunday in Utah made the night complete!
We go to the Painted Pony every time we are down in St George. The service is always great. The food quality is consistent. The French onion soup is delicious and a fun presentation. It’s my sons favorite menu item there. After dining there as much as we have, we’ve pretty much tasted the whole menu. It would be nice to see some new items on the menu. Also, some other seafood offerings other than the Ahi. Everything is pretty heavy. So with spring and summer ahead, it would be nice to lighten it up. Kellie is usually our server and she is professional, friendly and never disappoints with her service.
Great food! Great Service! I love the decor. It is always an enjoyable experience.
When in St. George or passing through St. George UT on I-15, the Painted Pony is the best restaurant in the region, hands down. One has to get to Salt Lake City (or perhaps Cedar City that hosts a theatre festival) to find anything comparable or perhaps slightly better (e.g., Tree Room in Sundance or Valter's Osteria Salt Lake). It is not fast food, and takes a bit longer because one must be seated (and typically, call ahead or use Open Table), but the food is the best in the region. If one is choosing between the Nevada restaurants on I-15 (e.g., Las Vegas) and Painted Pony, pick the Painted Pony. It is vegetarian friendly.
Wish menu was more extensive especially with additional seafood entres.
Excellent all around. Would highly recommend and will be back.
This was our first time and found everything to be outstanding. Service waz top notch. Food was great. Wine was a bit pricey but that is Utah for you. We will be back in the near future.
We made a reservation for 6 on a sunday... We got hungry earlier and they sat us earlier than our res...Food was good quality. I had a mix baby green salad with pecans blue cheese and vinaigrette. I had the bone in pork chop with a corn bread pudding and an infused pear with more cheese and nuts in the middle. The pork chop had a tomato relish...I loved the pear so much. Everything was delicious but that pear........My friend had the onion soup and the presentation was so nice. It was served in a hollowed onion and served on a bed of rock salt...We ended the meal with the creme brulee which was vanilla bean creme and it was divine...We both drank the moab IPA and it was wow, good. The service was impeccable and our server was named Eyan pronounced like Iyan...I hope I didn't mess that up...Anyway, you should not hesitate to make a Res at this restaurant..Worth it!
We will go back.
Would like more options on the menu. My husband didn't like most of the things offered.
Exceptional food and service
