Excellent find in St. George. Lunch was truly special. Service and food delightful. Highly recommend!
Our favorite of St. George. It never fails to provide the greatest food and service. This time we overstayed our time, too much talking and laughing with friends. Our wait person was so patient with us and never made us feel rushed. Dinner on the porch is always so delightful.
The quail appetizer was exquisite. Always enjoy the unique and tasteful dishes served. Also the capability to easily order gluten free options and helpfulness of wait staff.
Found this restaurant for dining before Theatre. It was Excellent. Would definitely go again if in the area.
This was a repeat visit, and I drove across four states to make it happen. Waiter John took excellent care of our table, the food was outstanding and beautifully plated. We were encouraged to take our time, and so we did, enjoying a fine meal at a relaxed pace. I can hardly wait until the next opportunity to visit The Painted Pony.
Actually we were disappointed. The sandwiches were very average and my Portabella mushroom sandwich didn't need lettuce and tomato; they made the sandwich fall apart and detracted from the mushroom flavor. The house salad was good. There was nothing out of the ordinary on the menu, as we had expected from visits in the past. It also took a long time to be served. The server apologized for the delay.
Excellent food and service! Every time we come to St George, we treat ourselves at the Painted Pony, and we are never disappointed. It’s one of our favorite restaurants ever.
Hanger steak should be server rare to medium rare. We asked for medium rare. First time it came out it was overcooked and pretty dry so we asked to have it redone. The next time it came out, it was bloody and chilled in the middle. They took it off the ticket and provided a slice of key lime pie but for that kind of error, I might expect the manager to come out and ask what could be done to make it right. They have a great reputation in town, but I wasn't impressed.
I have made made several trips to the Painted Pony in St. George, UT. It is always a wonderful experience. The ambiance, the warm greeting, the decor, service and location set it apart before you even open the menu. The owners and management of PP have created a menu that is enjoyable, varied and unique to their establishment, making each trip memorable. Find out for yourself. RESERVATIONS RECOMMENDED.
Best food in St. George. I always dine here when visiting.
We celebrated a friend's birthday with a lunch at The Painted Pony, always our go to restaurant for a special event, and were not disappointed. Great food and excellent service as usual. A bonus always, is the friendly, competent staff!
The food and service is always excellent and worth going. The most amazing thing this restaurant has to offer is the service - from the host to the servers to the busboys! When
we come back it's like being part of the family! Hint: ask for the "pony table" if available.
Always enjoy my meals here anytime that I am in St. George. Will definitely return!
As usual, we had a nice time here and the food was very good. Perhaps the lamb chops were a little more rare than ordered but the quality and preparation of everything else was outstanding and service was good as usual.
When I go somewhere with a limited menu, I expect the food to be excellent. The food here was OK, nothing special. we were there on a Wednesday night and the service was horrendous even though the restraunt was not busy at all. For the prices charged, you can easily find better find and better service. I will not go back anytime soon and would not recommend this place to anyone.
Love this place! We come here every time we come through St George. Very attractive setting - both inside and outdoor dining areas. Great menu and expertly imagined and prepared food. Ahi tuna is amazing! Very friendly and attentive staff.
We enjoyed a wonderful lunch with friends at the Painted Pony. We had a warm welcome from Nichole and excellent service from Dominick. The food was delicious as usual. We enjoyed the special soup, coconut shrimp, meatloaf, tuna salad and the salmon/spinach salad at our table - all were perfect. It is always delightful to dine at this great restaurant where the staff are the very best around!
All the other positive reviews are correct! It will be a wonderful choice.
We ordered hanger steak. Medium rare. It came out far more towards medium well. They were gracious, humble, and adjusted the bill and comped desert. Service was attentive, friendly and professional. Salads were great.
Visited with friends on a Monday evening. Monday's are great time to partake of the food because there are no corkage fees if you bring your own wine. Plus - the food is always very good. Recommend the Filet(s). Beet salad is also very unique.
The special was Blue Marlin - fish was great - accompanying risotto was just so so according to friends.
I have eaten at this restaurant at least 4 times. I wanted to take my wife with me on this visit to St. George. The waiter was inattentive to us. He forgot to bring a side order until reminded of it near the end of our dinner and only then after I motioned him to our table since he had not made any routine visits to our table during the course of our dinner. My wife had an expensive glass of wine and he never asked how it was or if a second glass was wanted. He never came by during the meal to ask how the food was other than within a couple of minutes of delivering the food to us. At a place as expensive as this, I am accustomed to the waiter stopping by the table at least a couple of times in the course of the dinner but not this time or this waiter. I had to ask a different server for a refill of my water. Our waiter never came by to check or do any refills. The seared ahi tuna was very good; however the balance of the meal was not up to par or expectations based on past visits. Overall, this visit was pretty much a disappointment and did not meet the expectations of either myself or my wife. There are many other choices for us on future visits and we will not return to the PP.
When we drive from LA to southwestern Utah, we always plan to spend our first night in St. George so we can eat at The Painted Pony. This was our first opportunity to bring along our son and his fiancee. The Painted Pony accommodated their needs well -- one vegetarian and one with food allergies. The food was delicious, as always, and the waiter was quietly attentive. We will be back!
Great cocktails great Ambiance service
Great Service Great Food...if you are in St George this place is a must!
Incredible food, steak was delicious and loved the Mac & Cheese! Service was world class! Would definitely eat here again!
Service was wonderful. Food was great, best French onion soup I ever had and great presentation.
Dinner and service were great. We were told our Open Table reservation was cancelled when it was not. Otherwise a great evening.
We were seated at a table in a quiet cozy corner by the window. It was perfect. Our server, Carina, was fantastic and knowledgeable about their gluten free options. The food was excellent!
Dominick, our server, was excellent! The food was delicious! Great decor and ambiance.
This is always a favorite spot when we are in town.
Always our go to restaurant while we are in St George!
Very accommodating! Food is excellent! Service impeccable! Venue is perfect!
We really enjoyed our meal here! We had the French onion soup which was served creatively in a large onion! It was good - a little too beefy tasting but good nevertheless - cheese was delicious! My husband had the smoked quail - he loved it. I had the ravioli - was also delicious! My husband ordered the ribeye and he said it was excellent. We had a great wine from Portugal to go with. Our only negative experience was that the waiter spilled our wine and only replaced it with an extra glass. I think we came out on the negative end of that but regardless - it would have been classier for him to have just replaced the bottle... Overall - a great evening! They gave my husband a lovely dessert to celebrate his birthday too! We'd highly recommend - great food!
Had a wonderful experience dining in your restaurant. Service, food and ambience was great.
Having access to a restaurant like this in St. George is a godsend! Happy to escape the overload of chains.
The side dishes were every good. The main courses were tough and dry. I would not go back for the quality of food for that price. The ambience was very nice but wish a the food tasted better. Also the presentation of the food was very prettt.
Always a solid choice/ Very good food and great service.
This restaurant was a great find. It was hard to get a reservation, but if you can get one, you will enjoy it. Our party of 3 tried the hanger steak, ribeye steak and seared ahi tuna. All were cooked perfectly and seasoned well. For appetizers, we did the bacon-wrapped dates and coconut shrimp. The dates were my favorite by far. We found reasonable and tasty selections on the wine list for our meal, too. Service was outstanding. Brice was friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this place if you are in St. George.
We have eaten here twice for birthday dinner this winter. The food is served nicely, and the onion soup in it's own onion skin is amazing! The other appetizers and main courses I have eaten all had a flavor of bacon that I did not appreciate. It was not exactly inappropriate, but overwhelmed the more delicate flavors of my dinner choices. Next time I will ask for no bacon added to anything I order.
We came to the restaurant to celebrate a birthday. We were so pleased with the quality of the food and our service was impeccable. Our server overheard that it was a birthday and arrived after dinner with a lovely dessert with a candle! We definitely felt like we received first class service! Thanks so much Painted Pony ... will visit again on my next trip to St. George!
