Pa'akai Ratings and Reviews
The service at the beginning of the meal was excellent. The wait staff came by the table frequently. Unfortunately once the dinner was served, the service started to wane. I would not hold this against them though as all of the staff were super friendly.
As for the food...the appetizers were delicious! My husband thoroughly enjoyed his mean but I found mine a tad bland.
The big attraction for this restaurant is its location. It is right on the water and watch surfers. Also, if you time your visit to coincide with sunset, you won’t be disappointed.
All in all I would recommend this restaurant.
The service was great food was also great once they got it right. My wife and were celebrating or 20th anniversary, everyone wished us a happy anniversary and gave us some champagne to celebrate. We each ordered a steak and split a Caesar salad. The salad was great but our steaks were cook wrong. However they quickly took them back refutes new ones for us and apologized and even the manager came out to apologize. Then the comped our deserts.
It was a great time here! It was a bit expensive, but not bad enough to break the bank and great to save for a special occasion! My friend and I went to try somewhere new, we did the 5 course menu and it was amazing! I don't eat seafood (texture and taste can be too overwhelming) but the chefs prepared it in a way that I loved it and ate all of it! Would definitely come back again
We were staying Turtle Bay resort and decided to have diner at Pa’akai. It is a fine dining restaurant and we both felt a little underdressed. It didn’t matter, the server was excellent and the food superb. I honestly can say it was the best meal I have ever eaten. The only down fall is we didn’t save room for dessert. I would highly recommend it, it is a little spendy so be prepared to dish out a couple hundred bucks for the meal.
Was excepting to be wow-ed, but the restaurant came up flat. When I ordered with a special request of well-done food, it did not come out as such. The restaurant was empty and waiters were just standing around when we arrived, and the decor seems very outdated. The chocolate souffle was great, but overall wouldn't eat there again and would not recommend.
The food was great with a huge selection on the menu that was so tempting you could chose anything and be happy -along with awesome personal attention by our waiter - Tiago - It created an experience to remember!
Tiago was only new at the restaurant but his knowledge and service were exceptional ,along with His friendly demeanour he made us feel like he was a seasoned pro !!
There was absolutely nothing that went wrong at this restaurant. Went there to celebrate my once-in-a-lifetime 50th birthday with my family and they delivered...and then some. From the hostess to our fabulous waitress and bus boy, to Chuy the manager (he was Awesome!), we are so glad that Pa'akai was our first and only choice. Mahalo to the Pa'akai staff and especially Chuy the manager! Kudos!!! 1,000,000 stars!
We were staying at Turtle Bay for two nights to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We live on Oahu. The table we had was really nice, but a little strange in that they had us facing the window overlooking the pool. Since it was 7 pm, the sun had already set so there was no other view since it was already dark. I felt uncomfortable with my back to the rest of the dining room and our waiter, Mike had to come around the table to talk to us and take our orders. The restaurant was pretty empty so the noise level was really low which made it easy for my husband and I to have a conversation. My husband ordered the fresh fish, a kampachi, which he said was excellent. I recently became a vegetarian. I ordered the tofu dish, which had really good reviews on yelp. However, I asked if it could be mild since I don’t like anything spicy and Mike said they can do it. I actually stated I would rather it be bland verses even a little spicy. So I was surprised that when I tried the dish, the tofu had a kick and was a little too spicy for me. I told Mike it was a little spicy, but okay. The saving grace was the other veggies under the tofu, they were excellent and the sauce on it was so delicious! I ate half and asked to box the leftovers. They also served some delicious rolls which I asked the bus boy if I could also box up and he said yes. The big turn off was when he cleared off our plates and was determined to clear it all off one time. He had to move the buns on the plate so he just picks up the rolls with his hands. I was flabbergasted! I know I am local, but it turned me off that he didn’t use a tongs or fork to move the rolls. My husband and I just looked at each other, surprised and we joked about how bad that was. If I didn’t see it, I would have never known that they think it’s okay to move food with your hands that God only knows what you touched before touching my leftovers. The next day before we checked out, I threw it away.
A well designed and executed meal was served to us, and the server's attention was just right; neither too attentive nor too indifferent. The menu selection was excellent, and the wine list was extensive, but I must complain that your wine list falls into one of the traps that is on my list of pet peeves, and that is you don't have any of the fruity wines such as the rhines or the reds such as valpolicella. The dessert was outstanding; my compliments to the chef, his staff, and all of the other support staff. I will eat there once more before I leave. Keep up the good work!
We were seated at the worst table in the restaurant against a wall facing another wall despite having a reservation. The entree menu was very limited. The mains was fine and the dishes we were served were good but not spectacular. At the end of the night the restaurant was being cleaned up around us and we tried to pay for our bill multiple times, we were constantly told to sit back down despite wanting to leave and pay our bill, yet they were just packing up around us and not serving us. Wouldn't expect this service from this type of restaurant and certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
Overall, a pretty nice place to dine if you're staying at Turtle Bay Resort. They were very kind and happy to accommodate our dietary concerns without any issues. It's a pretty restaurant and far nicer than the other main restaurant at their hotel. Outdoor seating is okay but if you get a few rowdy people down below the restaurant where they have live music performing, it can be a little loud. Worth trying if you're near by for sure.
The food is pricey but the quality is great. I was there with my two teenagers of which one refuses to eat any dairy and the other is a hardcore vegan, yet, we've all had a wonderful meal. I will add that the service was excellent as well. Will certainly eat there again if in the area.
