Out of the Blue
Gem of a restaurant with excellent food and service. Loved our choices of Fried Calamari, Pan Seared Sesame Salmon and Pan Seared Scallops . Look forward to going back to try other items on the menu. Every dish coming out of the kitchen looked amazing!
Amazing. Our first visit. Bound to return, from delicious seafood, ample portions, to great desserts, including phenomenal tiramisu.
Love it here! We’ve been coming to Out Of The Blue for almost 20 years and it continues to be one of my favorites.
I’m a bit of a seasoned foodie and all culinary roads I’ve traveled lead right back here.
The food is prepared and served from the heart and it is incredible ; hearty, fresh and flavorful.
The owner Stavros is always present and receives his guests warmly to match the comfortable, unpretentious and low key atmosphere.
Run, don’t walk to enjoy a delicious homemade meal served with a side of charming hospitality and integrity. Efharisto Stavros and Team!
The food was great! I liked the liveliness of the place. Cozy place
food really good
Excellent, fresh, well made, and tasty seafood.
Out of the Blue is a very welcoming restaurant - which serves great food at reasonable prices (we love their seafood dishes, and pasta - and of course the desserts!) Consistently excellent!
Excellent seafood and beautiful presentation. Our server was wonderful, sorry I don't have his name to add.
It was an excellent experience all around. I would recommend to anyone
Great atmosphere. Price is right. Lot of fun
Great family diner out. Child friendly. Food was excellent. Service was super.
The food and service were what you would expect from a great restaurant. More traditional than some of the places in Davis Sq. and just a touch quieter. All of that was perfect for us, a table of 6 that could eat peacefully and hear each other. Loved the octopus appetizer and the Cajun Swordfish.
We have dined at "Out of the Blue" many times over the years and have submitted previous reviews. Nothing has changed. "Out of the Blue" is an outstanding venue in an area (Davis Sq., Somerville) where there are many fine restaurants. The menu is extensive and diverse. The wine list is limited. But don't go there for the wine. It is the food that makes the difference.
I love the cherrystones every time I visit this restaurant. You can count on very fresh shellfish and fish here and a no nonsense New England seafood experience.
Still the best seafood in the metro Boston area! Cozy, authentic, unpretentious.
Great food, great service, great value.....I am a repeat customer and have never had a bad meal
Excellent food , very attentive stuff. I Would highly recommend this place.
This is one of our favorite dinner spots- good food and company. Really good seafood and pasta. Everyone is very friendly- from the owners to the cooks.
BEST seafood place around. Beats the pants off of you-know-who! Their sauces are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! Service is excellent and the atmosphere is super casual and friendly. Please support this family-owned small restaurant.
Went for our daughter's birthday with 6 people, everyone ordered something different and everything was really tasty and fresh. Staff were very welcoming. It was our first time but will come again.
Fabulous as always. Steve and Lydia are excellent hosts to compliment their great food.
Stellar service, perfectly cooked food, and the friendliest wait staff around. Would go back again and again!
Cozy place, very good food. Appeared to have loads of regulars. We'll be back.
Very friendly service, food was delicious, only recommendations it to have a choice with the entrée. Haddock with a choice of salad or pasta, not a great choice, it should come with potato or rice and a vegetable.
In looking for a place in Davis Square that would appeal to both conservative and adventurous diners, I read the reviews of Out of the Blue and chose it. Reviews were spot on. All food was delicious. Wine and drinks were reasonable. Parking was the only difficulty to leave enough time to find a spot.
4 of us came here before going to see the Slutcracker and the restaurant was by far the better of the two. We found much on the menu that appealed to us. We shared two cannolis among the four of us and found them to be much better than average. They were not pre-filled and the filling was homemade. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and had excellent service.
family-run for years. great seafood in a variety of sauces. small, very reasonably-priced wine list. no airs and graces: just good food and great service.
My husband and I had a very enjoyable evening at Out of the Blue. The food was delicious. I loved my scallops and shrimp with butternut squash ravioli. My husband got shrimp scampi and thought it was okay but overall it was a lovely evening!
If you like seafood and great service you’ll love Out of the Blue.
Love the value of sea food options and the taste! Great spot!
Hadn’t been to Out of the Blue in many years although it used to be a favorite. I am happy to say it has not changed much, the food is very good and fairly priced. Our server was also good, although perhaps a little overtaxed on a Saturday night. Overall, a good value that has stood the test of time!
This is a nice addition to Davis Square. It is a small restaurant which utilizes its space well. There are a lot of choices to please everyone’s eating style. Our server was on top of our order and he timed everything brilliantly. The prices are reasonable and you really do appreciate the fine food at a reasonable price. Definitely looking forward to going back.
I’ve always enjoyed this place but my dish tonight the stuffed calamari should be removed from the menus it was
So chewy I couldn’t even finish. The Lafayette at the door is by far the sweetest best hostess I’ve had at any restaurant!!
This was our first time at Out of the Blue. Every element was very well done, including cocktails, oysters, entrees (swordfish tips and a shrimp/scallop special) and dessert (cannoli). Service was perfect. In terms of atmosphere, it has a small, neighborhood field. From a price perspective, it was a great value.
We went in the Saturday night, the restaurant was full. Kitchen was a little busy, but the food was great, we liked everything we had order, filled squid salad, scallop with pasta, little neck in garlic sauce. We will be back.
Whenever we have a date-night without our kids - or even with! - we always find ourselves back at Out of the Blue. The relaxed atmosphere and the sense of being recognized and welcomed each time has made this our neighborhood go-to. Equally wonderful is the freshness and variety of the food. There's enough options for the kitchen to do each meal thoughtfully and well. We have a beloved friend who comes with us who is also a 'regular' who has little tweaks that are always accommodated. We brought our elderly parents here recently and they were just as charmed. Thank you for offering food and service that is straightforward, special without being fussy, feels like a special night out and also like your neighborhood rest spot. We will, - of course - be coming back.
Delicious food and great atmosphere
Thrilled with our dinners! Vegetarian pasta delicious. Fish amazing. Helpful unpretentious service. Homey and fabulous. Will go back every time I visit Boston
This is the best restaurant in Somerville if not the greater Boston area. My wife and I lived in Somerville for 7 years and always ate there for special occasions and really any occasion. We now live in DC but go back every time we are in town. Amazing food, friendly people, and a great value. I've always said that if it were located on the waterfront it would charge twice as much and be a 5 star restaurant. You won't regret stopping by Out of the Blue.
