The food was so good and the patio was lovely! Would definitely go again
The food was awesome, the service was perfect. The homemade tiramisu was absolutely the best I have ever had. The seafood Fra Diablo was perfectly spicy with tender scallops, lobster , and shrimp and homemade pasta. Definitely will be back.
Service was very good!
Food was very good - pretty pricey, but not outrageous for the area.
Outdoor seating was on the busy street with trucks going by. They have a more secluded patio set up in the back but apparently they only use that on weekends - that would have been a much nicer ambiance.
Very disappointed. The food was heavy and a bit bland. Way overpriced for the quality of food offered. Staff was nice but not overly extra attentive. The place next door looks a lot nicer. The decor was very dated
We were meeting family from out of town. It was just ok.
Their corona precautions were excellent
I had the linguini and clam sauce- it was amazing! Also the tiramisu for desert. and a ceaser salad
The outdoor seating has been a nice addition. We look forward to our next meal there!
I had the grilled swordfish which was cooked to perfection, flavorful with a side of roasted vegetables and potatoes. A+ for the healthy cooking.
First time here- fish was saturated in oil for a baked dish. Didn’t finish it. The calamari appetizer was very bland. Was given dirty glass and dirty flatware. None of the utensils were wrapped. Was very disappointed. They took a healthy food and made it unhealthy. Service was subpar. Wasn’t even remotely friendly. Waited a long time for the entrees to come out.. Waited even longer for the check. Oh and I was pulling bones out of my mouth as the fish wasn’t deboned.
always a pleasure to dine here. lydia and steve and their gracious staff make sure everything is top notch. our favorite restaurant by far..
Fast, great food and service!
Lovely time sitting on the patio. The out of the blue team are always excellent hosts!!!!
Food was great-we all ordered fresh fish. Outdoor dining and service was also great! Highly recommend!
Tasty food and never been disappointed there.
Very fair prices too!
Service is excellent
I've been going to this restaurant for many years and it continues to be our all-time favorite - food is super fresh, perfectly prepared and the owners and staff make customers feel like family. I wholeheartedly recommend it! In fact, this past time I went there w/ a best friend who hadn't gone before and they were blown away about how incredible the food was.
Out of the Blue is one of our favorite places! We are always greeted warmly by the staff and the owner stops by to say hello. The chopped shrimp and calamari over black ink pasta is the best!
Always good, fresh seafood. The outdoor seating is lovely-almost could have been Tuscany.
I always enjoy my meal at Out of the Blue! Fresh and tasty
The host was unfortunately quite rude. We had made a reservation for a table for 3 at 6pm. When we got there, the restaurant was mostly empty. We sat down, but the friend of ours who was supposed to join us texted us she would be 20min late. I warned my friend of that fact. The hostess who was standing not too far from our table overheard our conversation, ran to our table and quite aggressively explained that we needed to order soon and would not be able to wait for our friend for 20min as the restaurant was "fully booked" that tonight. We obliged and ordered on our friend's behalf, only to be told later by our waiter that there was "no rush" for us to order. By the end of our unnecessarily rushed dinner, we left the restaurant, that was still mostly empty... Additionally, the food was quite disappointing.
Food and service were fantastic! I’ve been many times and have never been disappointed!
Great food! Nice outdoor seating. Our waiter was friendly, helpful with suggestions, and staff was very attentive.
The staff is always amazing, just like the food! Great time. Always recommend.
We sat at the bar service was good not exceptional because I feel that they must be understaffed like every other restaurant and establishment. However the quality of the food makes up for any deficiencies in the service levels… However I’d highly recommend out of the blow I’ve been there numerous occasions and I’ve never been disappointed exceptionalValue for the amount of food in the quality that they give you.
Another great meal at this gem in lovely Davis Square. We had the oysters which were very tasty. My wife had the baked scallops which were plentiful and cooked perfectly. I had the frutti Di Mare which had the right amount of everything with just enough spicy in the sauce. We will be back for sure.
The food was totally sub-par. We ordered mussels as an appetizer. They were tiny, fishy, and a third didn’t open. The wine sauce was acidic with little flavor. One of ordered clams in linguine with red sauce. It was almost inedible, mainly because the sauce was some cloying creation that reminded me of Campbell’s tomato soup. I ordered the baked monkfish special. This was actually ok. The monkfish was good and prepared well in a white wine sauce. With grilled asparagus and a few small potato chunks, it was ok, but just ok. Service was spotty, slow, but friendly. I will not return.
Always good to return to this wonderful place. Good food (had the shrimp scampi this time, chowder, caesar but we love it all). Good service, always hospitable and people around us enjoying every minute.
always a pleasure visiting out of the blue ! great food, generous drinks, engaging owners.....and all at very fair prices. our favorite restaurant
We have become regulars at this fine restaurant in the Davis Square neighborhood. The food ranges from Italian pasta and risotto dishes emphasizing fresh seafood. The Lobster Fra Diavalo is special, but we've savored many of the seafood dishes on the menu and enjoyed them all. A minor point: the shrimp scampi linguini would benefit from a heavier hand with the garlic. The grilled octopus salad is always our appetizer. The staff are personable and attentive. We especially enjoy the outdoor seating behind the main restaurant, and hope that continues as the weather allows.
Service was good. Portions of pasta and appetizers were on the small side. Didn’t love taste of plum sauce. Limited dessert options. Coffee was eh.
The outdoor dining both in front of the restaurant in Davis Sq and in back in a remodeled area are both lovely with flower boxes, enclosures, etc to make these area feel like a graden restaurant. Same great tasting food. Never a bad meal. Fish and seafood excellent.
Hearty fish-based food. Not delicate, but quite tasty. No-nonsense service. Currently lots of outdoor seating.
Excellent menus choices the specials were both excellent. Went twice in one week, once for birthday, once with visitors from out of town
Great food , decent prices I liked our waiter a lot
Hands down, the best Italian seafood restaurant in Boston area. No BS no show off, just real food with the freshest ingredients.
Great food! Excellent service
Out of the Blue is one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants that we keep coming back to. This was our first time dining in at OUB since the Pandemic though we did order takeout when they began offering it. and we're glad they survived. Looking forward to our next visit.
Very nice dinner shared on the front outdoor dining space; it was a comfortable and pretty street/sidewalk setting. They were able to easily accomodate gluten allergies and provide option of GF pasta substitute.Would have appreciated an offer of bread to go with the (delicious!) mussels dish to soak up the sauce. A great place for a special dinner with family who appreciate great and fresh seafood! A neighborhood gem!!
We had been regular customers before the COVID panick. We went back recently and we found the same good food and excellent service/ It was great to be back.
Out of the Blue has been out go-to for more than a decade. Consistent, outstanding dishes, reasonably priced, wonderful people.
Always great dining at Out of the Blue!
We sat in the back patio - avoided the threat of the thunderstorm - none came!
A busy Saturday night, but wait staff friendly and efficient.
Don't pass up the fried calamari - fresh, tender - a treat!
Excellent all around- there will definitely be a return visit
