I would have to rate the food as average. The bread was stale. We got crab cakes for an appetizer. Very soggy. I had shrimp scampi that I was pleased with. Daughter had fried calamari plate. Seems like fryer oil needed to be changed. The food was fried dark and rubbery, not light and crunchy. Husband had baked scallops, he said were just OK. Prob won’t return.

Out of The Blue affords diners a great seafood meal without the higher prices of downtown. We have been there four times now and each time the experience gets better. Service is friendly and attentive without being intrusive. This time my wife had the grilled salmon- done just the way she likes it and I had shrimp scampi over linguine. I try something different each time but this shrimp dish will definitely get visited again. Hopefully this time I will be able to finish it. Davis Square is a nice place for a dinner and a film and Out of the Blue certainly meets the requirement for good food and a pleasant dining experience.

I knew this would be a good meal from previous experience. Food and service were very good. Friendly staff and nice surroundings. Would recommend.

Wonderful space and fantastic service! The bread served before the meal was fairly mediocre, but our arugula salad was very fresh and perfectly dressed. The pasta special I ordered had great flavor, but the shrimp and scallops were over cooked and a bit rubbery. My friend’s swordfish was also over cooked, but with good flavors. Overall, it’s a wonderful spot, but maybe on this particular night the cooking wasn’t at its best.

SO Pleased with this gem! Walked past it a million times and assumed it was expensive, but was pleasantly surprised. The food is AMAZING and they are so accommodating if you want to customize your own meal. The wine was super affordable. Our waiter was super friendly and even offered to take a photo for us. The atmosphere is casual and cozy - 10/10 would eat here again. A true North End meal in Somerville.

This great neighborhood seafood restaurant is terrific. The service is excellent, a good and reasonably priced wine list, and a great menu. The fish is fresh and well prepared. The kitchen area is open so you can see the chefs at work and smell the wonderful aromas. The prices are food are reasonable and affordable. I think Out of the Blue is as good as any seafood restaurant in the Boston area. It's now on my list of "go to" favorites.

Nice place. Good food at good value. Pretty quiet--able to have a good conversation. Service, well, was OK--nothing great, not bad. Wine list well priced.

A warm, welcoming neighborhood restaurant. It features a broad and interesting menu and friendly, helpful yet unobtrusive service. There were four of us; both appetizers and all of our meals were terrific. As was the freshly made cannoli we shared for dessert.

I was picking my husband up at the Boston Airport at 4pm on Sat night. He suggested we go out to eat and didn't care where. I tried to pick a place that would be on the way home for us since we live in NH. I picked Out of the Blue in Somerville MA. It was a great pick. It is mostly a seafood restaurant. We had PEI mussels for an app then Scallops and Salmon for our dinner entrees. It is in a part of Somerville called Davis Square. The parking will be your only issue. I made reservations on Open Table for 5pm so we didn't really have a problem. Hope you will give it a try.

I was very pleased to have a meal that was cooked to order and not over cooked. I was suprised to see OUT OF THE BLUE as casual as it was.
