Good food good service on a busy san francisco night. Unusual and delicious fish dishes
As always, an excellent meal with super service!
We chose to sit outside. It was a Friday night and there were a lot of cars on Oak. We could still have conversation easily. They lit a warming heater right next to us.
The quality of the sushi is always first rate and so what's a little noise!
Decent place. Flavorful rolls, nice quality sushi.
Fantastic sushi. We did the Omakase and it was delicious. We sat outside. it was very nice.
Inside corner table, felt pretty private. Food was better than expected. Fried foods a bi oily, but delicious. Sushi: mostly very fresh. Mackerel a bit fishy, but o-toro sumptuous. Uni fresh. Would return anytime. 3 blocks for Davies.
The fish at Otoro is very fresh AND they have creative rolls. Everything is super yummy
I have now eaten at Otoro 3 times and have been very impressed and happy each time! It is nice to be greeted like an old friend when you visit a soon to be favorite restaurant. I am betting that the gentleman who handles seating etc is the owner...but either way, I appreciate his friendly style!
The food is fantastic...very fresh and tender sashimi and their rolls are just how I like them...not too much rice!
Decent food but the Thanksgiving service (considering it happened by accident) was outstanding.
Too much sauce and seasoning on nigiri that take away fresh fish flavor
Chef's sushi special was fantastic, rolls were ok, Hamachi Kama was good.
Love this place! Highly recommend. I’ve been coming here for years, I don’t live in the city anymore but I make a point to go to Otoro when I visit. Always fresh fish, great service, and a laid back atmosphere. It’s a home away from home! Thanks to Jimmy and team for always making this place great!
Loved the food. Everything was delicious. We sat outside and it was warm enough with the heaters turned on.
fabulous food and service. i have eaten her many times and it never fails.
The wagyu rolled around asparagus and the shishito peppers were my favoite items. The rolls were okay; maybe I picked the wrong items for myself, but I would come back and try the hamachi carpaccio, nigiri items, and more tapas. Outdoor seating was nice, open and spacious, more than the inside. My friends really enjoyed it so I'm glad.
Smallish place walking distance from the performing arts complex. Food is good, and service was generally good, just a little slow right at the end of our meal, but end of the day definitely a place worth visiting if you’re in the Hayes Valley area, especially if you’re heading off to the symphony, the opera, or SF jazz.
Amazing quality sushi and such a nice staff. Nice and spacious inside and nice tables outside
The sushi was unbelievable
Excellent quality! Everything was delicious! Highly recommended.
greeted at the door immediately & shown straight to a good corner / window table. every staff person came to the table at some point or another to take an order, bring food, pour water, you name it. great service. very good food.
Inventive, fresh food
Great atmosphere and excellent food! Made a reservation and still had to wait a little outside. Most definitely worth the wait and so glad this place is busy busy!
Small place, but delicious rolls and appetizers at fair prices.
Excellent sushi creations and sake flights! Casual setting and a good ambience. Would recommend.
We arrived at 9:45 placed our order and after our first dish was was delivered we were told the kitchen was closing so we should order anything else right then. They should not accept late reservations if they don’t intend to stay open. We were rushed and left after about 40 minutes. Not the leisurely late dinner we expected.
We enjoyed everything. Will go back again and recomment it.
Great date spot. The sushi was good and there is a good selection of vegetarian rolls. Service was solid as well
I really enjoyed my meal at Otoro. Very quality sushi - the chef's nigiri selection was by far the best dish. The price tag was a little surprising at the end, but not out of the ordinary for a good quality sushi place in SF
Food was very good. Service was friendly but slow, and I don’t think that was just a food prep thing, even getting the check back took around 15 minutes. Nice outdoor seating with heaters.
Glad to have outdoor dining, table a bit close together tho. There were other parklet’s not being used, I would have felt more comfortable with tables spaced out further. Food and sake very good as was the service.
We love this place. Great sushi and friendly service. A neighborhood gem!
We love the quality of the sushi at Otoro. It is consistently delicious. The service is exceptional with Jimmy and his team going out of their way to ensure we feel comfortable and our every need is met. We will return again and again. We are just SO HAPPY this neighborhood gem survived. <3
Fantastic service. Delicious sushi. Nice ambiance.
We were visiting SF and we wanted to have sushi. Based on our search and reading reviews we found this restaurant and we were all happy about our decision.
The sushi and rolls were all delicious, the ingredients were quite fresh and nicely prepared.
It was a cozy place for a casual dine out with a small group of friends or the family. Not a fancy place though if you want to impress your date.
We dined here as a family and it was all fine.
The food was average and they take a while to get your order.
Even though we had a reservation, we were asked to wait about half an hour. I started to think NOT having a reservation would have had any difference because by the time we were seated, half the restaurant had their food and left already.
If you do not mind their poor reservation handling skills and getting irritated because of it, their sushi selection, and appetizers were delicious!! And the waitress was very kind, fast.
Jimmy has a great restaurant with quality fish, great staff and terrific service.
Consistently one of the best sushi places in San Francisco with quality fish and quality presentation without being overly fussy, complicated or pretentious. The staff there are so nice and so friendly and it’s so great to see them come through the pandemic still the same great restaurant. An absolute favorite!
Great neighborhood sushi place for casual dining, friendly staff, and good food
