After checking in for my reservation, I was casually dismissed to the bar until my guest arrived by two fairly arrogant hostesses. There was no offer to be seated to wait for my guest, and there is no place in particular to wait comfortably. It was obvious from the beginning that my reservation, presence, and business didn’t really matter.
Once seated, a few minutes later, it became painfully apparent that the restaurant was so loud that we had to yell at each other to hear ourselves.
There were perhaps five different people that came to our table to ask us what we wanted to drink, another to take our order, two others to deliver our food, and ultimately someone to introduce herself as our server, after our meals were served. We took it all in stride because we were involved in an important business conversation, but in retrospect I probably will not be back. I’ve had plenty of high-end restaurant experiences that felt like my business mattered. This one did not. I felt like I/we were inconsequential and just another high-dollar check at the end of our meal.
Great atmosphere, good suggestions from wait staff, wait staff not terribly attentive - we had to ask someone to send our waitress to take our order, bring the check, and bring boxes.
We love the food but we ordered a very expensive wine and when the server ignored us the somm ended up taking our order. The chicken was to be cut up and wasnt... the wine was never served. Bad service did effect our experience.
We enjoyed their ever revolving seasonal brunch menu. One particular dish which we never get tired of is the famous French toast Donabe with pork belly. The cocktails are quite creative as well.
Overall, all of the dishes are very delicious and beautifully plated.
Neither of us liked our food. We won’t return
Excellent service. Food and drinks were fantastic too. Tad expensive but portions were generous. Would love to return.
Great food....Awesome service....Our waitress made the experience fun!.....VERY loud!!!
The quality of the food was amazing. The kitchen was open and very well managed. The food came out one at a time and we got to enjoy everything. The Old fashion was delish too.
This is the first time I tried Otium. Went here for my birthday with friends. The drinks and the food tasted so delicious. Omg the buttery naan with burgundy truffle butter and the chicken liver mousse was so delicious. Would recommend getting that to anyone who goes. The manager was super nice. He came over and greet us at the end. Our waitress was great too. Everything overall was wonderful. I would come here again.
For real food lovers.
Everything from the Naan to the Dry aged duck was spectacular.
No complaints, even the staff were friendly and attentive.
Definitely returning for another dinner
Great location, great quality, flavorful food and the ambience is beautiful.
Love the restaurant. It's a must-go-to place after the symphony. Had a delicious Farro salad with chicken. My preference is for salmon, but I missed it this time. Guess it's quite popular.
There were several people dining at Otium after the symphony, so we did not get choice seating in the main dining area as usual. We were seated in the west dining area by a window overlooking the construction zone. Was not the best seating for the best Otium experience.
Amazing service and the food was outstanding
They had no chilled Chardonnay for my wife when we arrived at 5:30. Other than that, I would return and recommend.
I had been to Otium in the past, but only for drinks (which are always fantastic). This time I came for brunch; we ordered the Farro Salad, delicious, the crispy potatoes, also delicious, and the hummus and muhamara plate. The only reason I didn’t give the good 5 starts is because although it was delicious, something did not sit well and I’m not sure what that was. Other than that, everything was great. The staff is friendly, the ambiance is chic, and the drinks are awesome. Bonus points, just a 2 minute walk from The Broad.
Great food; reasonable portions; creative combinations; friendly, helpful servers; great downtown location...highly recommended
We shared the pancakes and the smoked salmon dishes. The pancakes, made with lemon curd, were outstanding and of good value.
It was great
Quality of the two entrees, black cod and duck, were underwhelming and came away disappointed.
Very nice ambience although a bit noisy where were were sitting which was near the open kitchen. Other areas may be less noisy. Service was great and the menu very eclectic and "foodie". Quality of food was great with very fresh farm to table vegetables. Prices a bit high but paying for location, and high quality food.
Wonderful dining experience! Try the duck confit.
