Comida muy rica, el rstorant estaba helado, no habia musica y la luz no hacia ambiente
Oswald is doing a GREAT job offering a fine dinning experience even with the restrictions imposed by COVID. Wonderful service, expertly prepared food. All Aces!
Super yum food, very nice staff, covid safe seating distanced and outside.
Wonderful food. Great staff. Great social distance place.
We absolutely love dining here. The food is delicious, beautifully presented, and always fresh and seasonal. We love to try the seasonal cocktails as well. Besides all of their beautiful dishes, they have THE BEST BURGER in town! Oswald is always on point
We wanted to love this place, unfortunately it was very underwhelming.
The menu is extremely limited, perhaps due to pandemic.
The highlight of the evening was the Chicken Orzo soup. The Petrale Sole was ok, nothing
extraordinary. My prawn salad was something I can make at home, and the creme brulee crust was burnt. The service was very friendly, the food was just not up to par.
Sitting on the street was loud and cold, but the food was delicious.
The best family dinner celebration! The food was just perfectly prepared and delicious. The attention to perfection displayed by the chefs of OSWALD is the best in town. Our server was attentive and very informative. We didn't have dessert - too full from our appetizers and main courses. Dessert next time.
I highly recommend OSWALD for dinner.
They are the best.
Still great though ambiance is admittedly lacking given COVID.
Appreciated some lower cost entree options and as always the excellent wine!
Met friends there for lunch on Saturday the 24th. The food was really good as usual. Nothing but good things to say about this Santa Cruz Gem.
Everything was above expectations
We were celebrating our wedding anniversary in this time of Covid and decided to celebrate at Oswald’s, after having a great dinner there for a friend’s birthday. We sat outside at the furthest table from the door, which did lack atmosphere, as you are close to the sidewalk with everyone walking by (not a great thing in downtown). But after settling in, we had a great time and the cocktails and food were great! We shared the crab appetizer, I had the sole and my husband had the roasted chicken. Everything was delicious! My husband loved the Camper Van cocktail and we brought a bottle of special wine to share. To end the evening, we shared the chocolate soufflé, which was amazing! Highly recommend Oswald’s!
Fabulous did and service. It's difficult making it work on the corner of two busy streets, outside. They're doing the best they can in a difficult situation. They could perhaps make it a bit more romantic with some pretty lights, perhaps?
Was always curious about this place being that we pass by often. Soon as we got there they seated us didn’t even have to wait a minute. The staff was friendly the ambience was great. Its nice they had the patio heaters since the colder nights are getting here. We had the sautéd prawns and the roasted chicken breast. Let me just say We were really impressed by the combinations of the food. My fiancé is not a fan of vegetables but he was digging the ratatouille. Drinks and dessert were a must and well enjoyed.
Noises from speeding cars, busboy took my bread before I got my soup they sat a table that didn’t have a reservation before us and we were on time... food always good server good
Ok, so sitting on the sidewalk in downtown Santa Cruz is not my idea of a romantic dinner, but these are unusual times. Oswald made it as great as possible with patio heaters, and added a nice ambiance with plants, barrels, ropes, etc. Looking forward to trying that amazing food inside!
I had lunch at OSWALD with a friend. We were seated promptly. The outside seating that the staff of OSWALD has created is very comfortable. Our server was professional and friendly. Lunch was just delicious. I had the Caesar salad with trout and my friend had the portobello mushroom sandwich with salad. Very tasty. We also shared an apple crisp dessert which was well made and presented. We enjoyed our dining experience at OSWALD. I would recommend dining there to friends for sure. Great Job OSWALD Team.
They have done a good job converting to only outdoor seating. They have clearly focused on perfecting their dishes and drinks duebto fewer tables!
I am always on the hunt for delicious fried chicken and Oswald didn't disappoint. The only reason I didn't give the food a 5 is because there is no option to pick the chicken pieces. I would have selected the breast and thigh. We were served a drumstick, thigh, and drumette. The Manhattan cocktail was delicious and absolutely NOT watered down. We will return when in Santa Cruz.
We love Oswald. The food is always delicious and the cocktails on point. The staff is attentive and fun to be around.
We had an early dinner outside on the sidewalk with good distancing between tables. Traffic noise faded pretty quickly into the background, not unlike evenings outdoors in Europe and actually quieter than a full bar scene. Food, as always was very good and the cocktails very strong. Staff are very friendly. Nice way to re-enter the dining scene, though everything is also available for takeout. Big shoutout for their chicken orzo soup. And they’ve expanded their lunch hours, so I’ll definitely be back soon.
Overall we had another great dining experience at Oswalds. The woman who may have been a manager but was helping with seating was extremely welcoming. The duck was cooked and seasoned to perfection. The lasagna and flank steak were on point. The chicken orzo soup left something to be desired.
Nice evening for curbside dining. good food and the bartender makes a nice drink. Given the challenges covid restrictions present, they did a nice job.
Oswalds is the best. Our fave spot in Santa Cruz. The food is consistently great, and service is top notch.
Everything was amazing. The food, the service, the hostess, and the people.
Great, fresh, simple food. We'd never tried this place and really enjoyed it. We'll go back.
Wonderful service, amazing cocktails, delicious food. Would definitely dine here again!
The menu is limited which I understand, but they were out of the only fish option.
The meals were not their regular deliciousness, which I do not understand.
I guess I'll try again in non-COVID times.
Every bite was delicious, beautiful presentation!
Had the pleasant experience of being the very fist customers for Oswald's re-opened lunch service the other day as we were celebrating my retirement! We started with an excellent cocktail before moving on to our main courses: Caesar Salad with fried chicken for my wife, and my usual, the sautéed greens and farro for me, which I always gussy up with the optional fried trout and over easy egg. We had a small table in the shade on the Front Street side of the outdoor seating area, which was generally very pleasant. Glad to see this gem of a Santa Cruz restaurant back in the mix. Well worth a visit
Very friendly environment.
All good. Halibut perfect. Soup xlnt.
Awesome staff and service. Great food and drinks. Will be be back, again.
Wonderful service, delicious food and cocktails, friendly staff
Oswald dine in is back! Delicious menu, well prepared and excellent service. Oswald hasn't missed a beat! Glad Oswald is back.
We were seated at time of reservation.
Old fashion made to perfection.
Started with a pear arugula salad. It was medium size so able to share but a good size for one also. We ordered petrale sole and beef tenderloin. We would order it again. They were cooked as requested and presented very well! The staff was very attentive.
The filet and chocolate soufflé were amazing! The dining room’s modern design isn’t my taste and creates a noisy environment. You can also be sitting quite close to other diners. The service was definitely sub-par, particularly at those prices. The waitress delivered our dinners and didn’t return until we were done eating. We also had a long wait time between beverage delivery and her return to take our order. There was a time it seemed she wasn’t anywhere to be seen, and the restaurant isn’t that large. We probably won’t return despite the food.
I had the special of the day - a salmon/veggie omelette with a side salad. The omelette was seasoned and cooked perfectly. I sent my compliments to the chef. If you ever see it on the menu, give it a try or ask if it is available. My companions were also pleased with their choices - the squash soup and portobello mushroom burger.
