Osteria 177 is the ultimate expression of an Italian tavern where the main attraction is imported delicacies of one-of-a-kind food and wine. Adorned by barreled wine, an Osteria would never lack the sought out local specialties, spices, cheeses, fish or meats. It was here that many people tried to alleviate life's stresses by numbering themselves with good food, good wine, and good company. The owner/chef of the Osteria would take the utmost pride in stocking these praised elements as the basis for mouthwatering meals, a delicious dance-for-all of the five senses. This is the basis for Osteria 177.

Staff friendly. Clean...but more people dinning in shorts and jeans than a nice formal dinner. Food fresh but bland and average.
This is our favorite Annapolis restaurant. Consistent quality food and service. Classic Italian and always great specials. The beef short rib raviolis were excellent. Would highly recommend.
Food was spectacular start to finish
Food was fantastic
The food was good and overall a good restaurant. If I could give a 3 1/2 stars I would. The menu was limited and in general overpriced compared to similar/better meals at similar restaurants, but the food was inarguably delicious by all accounts from my party. The one complaint was that the side dishes were very small. I ordered the one salmon dish - only one salmon selection? - and while the fish was a typical sized portion, it came with about a 1/3 cup of mash potatoes. This is fine for me, since I'm on a diet, but my husband was not too pleased with his $40 steak meal that came with three slices of potatoes. They couldn't spare a whole potato? My other issue was with the mystery vegetable that came with the salmon. It was good. It had long, thick stems and dark green leaves. The waiter told me it was broccolini. I have broccolini all the time. This was not broccolini. There were no buds! The stems were so thick and the leaves so long. I have no idea what it was, but the waiter insisted it was broccolini. I believe I should be able to identify my food when I go out to eat. No? I became very dehydrated later in the evening, so maybe a cut back on the sodium is in order as well. The recommended wine was good.
Not our first visit and certainly not our last. My husband said his Branzino was cooked to perfection-in fact, he said it was the best prepared fish he had ever eaten. My beef tenderloin was excellent. The Hazelnut Chocolate cake--so delicious! Service was excellent as always. One of our favorite "special occasion" restaurants!
My wife, son and I had a great evening. Dianna did a fantastic job describing specials and providing great service. The food, service and setting were perfect.
The food was not much to write about. Only second time at restaurant, but compared to the first time, the food was very disappointing considering the price point is high. Probably would not make the effort to go back.
First time in 18 years we found an Italian food restaurant hat tastes just like being in Italy. The real deal. Delicious!
I had the veal chop. VERY GOOD!! My husband ordered swordfish and apparently he and the server did not communicate on which swordfish meal he wanted, and Bob didn’t get the preparation he had wanted. They offered to redo it but then I would have been eating alone while,he awaited his. So he kept the one presented. Other than that all was good. Lovely atmosphere and excellent service.
The best restaurant in the area and maybe the whole state. Fantastic Italian cuisine.
Osteria is incredible. For fine Italian dining you can’t beat it!
Service was good - food was ok. Don't feel as though this establishment should be advertised as "up scale". As the bar area is not well sectioned off from the main area - any noises made there carry into the main room (and they did).
Perhaps different nights don't have a full bar and perhaps different menu items are slightly better - but I won't be finding out.
My husband and I decided to try Osteria 177 because I had always wanted to go. We were seated immediately and the waitress was extremely prompt and was very attentive. The food was great. We will definitely be back again.
We have been wanting to eat here for a long time and when our wedding anniversary came up, we thought it was the perfect place. Food was amazing. Server's recommendations were on point. Service was impeccable.
The food was wonderful and the staff was helpful as well as providing a relaxing environment to enjoy time with family.
Family from out of town
Service was pathetically slow on Father's Day with one waiter handling most tables and entrees taking well over an hour to come out to the table. I had to ask for dessert menus three times which took another 20 minutes and then there was a long wait for the check. Don't go here unless you want to wait and wait and wait. Pricing is also outrageous.
We were celebrating Father’s Day. It was great.
Special table for our anniversary was nice. Had to wait 15 minutes to get a drink at the bar and 20 minutes for our table. But we were not able n a hurry so no big problem.
We visited Osteria while on vacation and were thrilled with our decision to have dinner here. It has to be one of the best restaurants in Annapolis. It has a great atmosphere and bar but those items cannot compare
to the wonderful food and outstanding service by the staff. We met several locals who eat here almost weekly and it's no wonder. We will return in the future for sure !
Osteria has become our favorite restaurant in the Annapolis area, we try and dine there at least once a week. The food is wonderful and the service is always over the top.
Second time we’ve dined here. We live in Annapolis and like to keep up with the dining experiences. This occasion was very nice overall. The daily specials are pricy but there are also menu selections in the mid-$20 range. Our service was fine. We were a party of 4 and two of us had 1 glass of wine each. Total bill was $240 plus tip. Not bad! We’d dine here again.
Great food and atmosphere for a special occasion. My wife's lobster was large enough for two or three and my filet mignon could have been cut with a fork. Expensive but well worth it.
We visited for the first time for our anniversary. We loved the restaurant ambiance and the service was attentive and professional. The hostess acknowledged our special day when we entered as well as when we left - this was beyond what we normally would expect. The meal was attractively plated and well prepared, better than many restaurants, but not outstanding. The meal was significantly more expensive compared to other first class restaurants. Had it been a spectacular meal, it would be a nice place to return to for special occasions. The price point relative to meal (which was good, but not notable) makes it difficult to recommend.
Great-fantastic-awesome. I guess you could say we like it at Osteria.
Enjoyed the food tremendously. Our waiter made great recommendations on the appetizers and wine. Service was outstanding
It was a lovely place to celebrate my mom’s birthday. We had a delicious dinner, excellent service, and a great table. Will absolutely be going back soon.
a excellent place to take your wife for a special occasion
A perfect night. Delicious food, excellent service.
This is our second time dining here...And we enjoyed it every bit as the first time. The service and food is excellent. We will be back...
Fantastic as usual and Brian is a great server and bar tender.
This really is a very strong 4.5 stars all around. Two of us shared the grilled calamari appetizer (as good as its reputation that proceeds it), Sacchetti di Pasta ai Porcini (yummy little pasta "bags" filled with pear and cheese with a mushroom cream sauce- multiple layers of flavor- so good, so satisfying!), and the carmelized sea bass special (excited to see it on the menu again). They happily split the second two dishes for us for a very small upcharge ($5). We drove an hour to Annapolis mainly to dine here and will continue to do so. Thank you Osteria 177 for your consistency over the years!
We have never been disappointed at Osteria 177 but this meal exceeded our already high expectations! We had excellent service and it was an incredible way to celebrate our daughter’s graduation.
Thank you Osteria for setting the bar so high and consistently delivering above and beyond our desires.
Excellent food and service. Very accomodating.
Based on other reviews I felt that Osteria 177 might an apt choice for an eighteenth wedding anniversary dinner with my wife. It was just right. The wait staff allowed us a table near a window in a quiet, cozy part of the dining room. Having run into some bad traffic on Hwy 50 we called ahead to inform the restaurant we would be a little late. The hostess was very sympathetic and equally friendly when we arrived. Our waiter was charming, energetic and appropriately present. My wife's favorite part of the dinner was our appetizer. My steak was a highlight of my dinner but my wife's salmon was delicious as well although it tasted like some of the lemon juice from the fish had infiltrated the sliced potatoes. Dessert (chocolate mousse and creme brulee) was fabulous! It was an expensive meal - perhaps slightly too much so for frequent dining - but we enjoyed ourselves and would probably return for another special occasion.
As great a restaurant as this is, it is always getting better.
The staff always makes you feel welcome.
The food is unsurpassed .
So much attention to detail .
This restaurant is one of our two favorites.
Sad in a way that no one can compare to Osteria and our other favotii, Carrols Creek.
Our waitress, Ani, was very attentive from the moment we sat down. Made some recommendations that we enjoyed. Veal carpaccio was nice dish and had not had before. Split pappardelle boar ragu pasta which was as good as we have had in Italy. Hubby had the branzino special with crab and said best fish dish ever. I enjoyed the sea bass special which was also very good. Would definitely return if in the area again
Always Fantastic! Can’t wait till our next visit to Annapolis!
