Osteria 177 is the ultimate expression of an Italian tavern where the main attraction is imported delicacies of one-of-a-kind food and wine. Adorned by barreled wine, an Osteria would never lack the sought out local specialties, spices, cheeses, fish or meats. It was here that many people tried to alleviate life's stresses by numbering themselves with good food, good wine, and good company. The owner/chef of the Osteria would take the utmost pride in stocking these praised elements as the basis for mouthwatering meals, a delicious dance-for-all of the five senses. This is the basis for Osteria 177.

We eat here as often as possible. It takes about an hour for us to get to Annapolis from our home, and it is well worth the ride.
Simple- this place is fantastic. Everything about it is top notch. Food, service, etc, all amazing.
Note- the caramelized sea bass is just incredible.
When you eat at an establishment more then five times a month it is because it is fantastic. The food and the service is over the top. If it is not on the menu just ask and they can prepare it for you.
Excellent restaurant, food, ambiance and service. Highly recommended for date night or for a business meeting.
Excellent food! A bit pricey, but definitely a great special occasion restaurant.
Great place awesome food and drink
fabulously good food and absolutely great service. enjoy!
Very professional wait staff. Menu selection is varied and daily specials are a nice complement to the menu.
Sea bass and daily pasta special were fantastic and from the appetizer to main course, we were not disappointed. Best restaurant in Annapolis.
Food was excellent and creatively prepared. Number of exciting specials. Fish and appetizers were outstanding. Highly recommend.
This was rated as the best Italian food in town (4.5). The menu was good, but the food was very ordinary.
I ordered a latte. It came in a metal pitcher. The contents was weak coffee with cream added. Zero foam. After sending it back, it was returned with a weak attempt, no better than the first try.
The biggest complaint I have with Open Table are the ratings. A high percentage of restaurants are rated 4 and better. Many 4.5’s and up are mediocre.
Most of the bery best restaurants have slightly higher ratings than the mediocre ones.
We eat out for dinner about 200 or more times per year, and find the same issue all the time.
I have been here a couple of times before and the experience was much better overall. Our waiter rushed us through the ordering process and seemed to be annoyed at us for taking our time ( the restaurant was not packed and there was no one waiting to be seated the entire time we were there) I wanted to try a sample of a wine I was unsure about but they would not open a bottle for me- I've never had that happen in a fine dining restaurant! The appetizer we had was outstanding and although my fish was wonderful and the sauce delicious, the 2 slivers of over cooked veggies and the small dollop of uninspired mashed potatoes were not worthy of the fish it came with. Our dessert was very good and overall we enjoyed ourselves but it could've been better for the price.
If you want better Italian cuisine you might find it in Italy. Osteria outshines them all in this whole area.
This has been one of my favorite restaurants but Saturday night was a bit of a disappointment. We sat down at 6:30 PM, waiting for some friends who came 10 minutes later, Ordered drinks and wine about 6:50 at 7:20 PM, we still had not been served drinks, then the wine did not come which I told him to bring with the drinks.
I had the duck which was OK. The others who had fish were very happy.
Hopefully, this was the exception on a holiday weekend.
The food was absolutely amazing!! The only thing that would have made our experience better was the service. They seemed maybe understaffed; our service was quite overwhelmed - but he worked hard. Can’t wait to go back!
Our meal was outstanding from start to finish. The chef has a deft touch with seafood, and the quality of the food was fantastic. Our server was great! I highly recommend Osteria 177.
Wow, the food here is always delicious. For example, calamari is grilled not deep fried. Awesome.
the wine list is extensive, but very pricy (difficult to get bottles under $80...) .
Vitello tonnato is a must, hopefully it will be on their menu. From the greeting, to the service, to the presentation of our delightful meals...perfection!
Perfect for an outstanding Italian meal. Great ingredients, presentation and service.
Amazing dinner. Best calamari ever! Our server was Keith and he could not have been better
This restaurant came highly recommended. We are not from the area so there for we had to ask around for recommendations. This was a great find. Would definitely visit again!
My husband and I celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary at Osteria 177. My husband doesn't care about food or dining out ~ he just humors me! However, he was very impressed with the food, the friendly, but not intrusive service, and the overall ambience of the restaurant. I heard him actually talking to our children about what a great experience it was! I was elated that he had such a good time! Both of us ordered fish entrees and they were superb! The Chilean Sea Bass and the Red Snapper entrees should not be missed. Osteria does fish superbly. It is clear that they source the freshest fish and prepare it with great care. Overall, the food reminded us of dining in Rome. You should not miss the panna cotta at the end of the meal. It really felt like we were back in Italy.
You will not be disappointed.
On reflection there were only two small missteps:
The first was the champagne brought to us and presented as complimentary. My husband and I mentioned how kind it was of the restaurant only to find out the next day it was sent by our children to wish us a happy anniversary.
The second was a very disappointing Caesar Salad. The chopped lettuce was lackluster, over dressed and sprinkled with parmesan instead of nice shards of a good Parmigiano-Reggiano. I was looking for well-made house made croutons only to find four very disappointing ones of some type. I recognize from the quality of Osteria's food that this salad is not up to their standard.
However, I want this review to end on a high note because overall, we had great service, wonderful food and will, without a qualm, return for another fine dining experience.
The food was good but very overpriced. The service was OK. The only reason we went to this restaurant is because we had $150 gift certificate. A dinner for four people was almost $200 very overpriced for what we got. This is supposed to be in Italian cuisine restaurant the music that they were playing sounded almost Mexican in style did not think much of the Decour very disappointed. Would not go there again
Amazing evening. Great food! Enjoyed everything about the restaurant.
Outstanding! My wife's lobster tails were perfect, as was my filet. Pricey, but well worth it.
The food was excellent and atmosphere was perfect for a dinner date night out. We enjoyed every bite. The service was okay. Our waiter forgot to bring the pasta we ordered with the chicken dish but we had more than enough to eat anyway and what came on both of our dishes was delicious. The Wine was really good and paired well with the filet.
For desert we ordered Creme Brule to share and a cup of the Spanish coffee. The desert came but no coffee. We waited patiently while our waiter was serving up the dish at a nearby table. We asked one of the female staff that would refill the water glasses but she stated we had to wait on our waiter for the coffee? When he was finished with the nearby table I made mention the coffee had not yet arrived. Again, he said it would be just a minute. We finished desert and the Spanish coffee finally came a few minutes after. The coffe was good, but the timing was not right as we were more than ready to leave at that point. With the amount of staff and as empty the restaurant was, I would have thought we would have been better taken care of from a higher end restaurant. Again, amazing food. The wait staff owes the chef some of their 20% tip because the food made up for their lack of attentiveness and attention to detail.
Because the food was so good I would repeat hoping I had a different experience with the waiter.
My wife liked the branzino, but my veal was awful. sent it back, second time no better. Yuk.
Great meal. Had friends in from Houston and they were extremely impressed with the quality of the food
Although we found the food very good, the noisy ambiance, poor (slow) service, overpriced wine selection, and overall experience rather disappointing. A fine dining experience was lacking with service that was too casual. Our servers had trouble communicating with each other and with our party. The television at the bar with the baseball game was particularly distracting in a restaurant that should be upscale (at least judging by their prices). Overall, we were disappointed with our celebration.
Osteria is consistently amazing, has been since we started coming to our weekend home in Annapolis in 2009. Easily the best sauces for Mediterranean cuisine in the Baltimore-DC area. Amazing and diverse array of pasta dishes, fresh whole fish and options for those who enjoy a good filet. Always a professional and warm staff and an atmosphere that can range from elegant to warm and inviting. While not necessarily geared toward children, they treat our 3 y/o daughter like the longstanding patron she is and the whole waitstaff has been briefed on her favorite dish and how she likes it served. The chef knows we are in the house when her order comes in! Bartender is a real mixologist—as much as we enjoy the wine menu, we crave his creations just as much. Osteria 177 is our go-to spot every weekend if we can manage to plan ahead and will dine at 5pm if it enables us to sneak in. Only hiccup I have ever experienced is rare slowness with a very, very large party, but this is rare and the dining experience and cordiality of the staff more than offsets such rare occurrences. Osteria 177 truly is an essential dining experience if you’re in Annapolis.
Food was very good. Ben, our waiter was professional and pleasant. Dining room could use a face lift to brighten it up. Also was very warm. Probably 15-20 customers and our guess-roome temp was about 78-79 degrees. Really a 3 and 1/2 star for ambience.
We were checking the place out for a group dinner in September. The on duty manager had little interest in accommodating us. Said they were busy without even checking dates. Too bad for them....may be ok for us.
Food and service very good. 4 stars.
The best Italian food in the state
In fact one of the best restaurants in all types of food
Food was very good. Seafood lasagna and Branzino with crab, delicious. Service was good but waiter kept hovering around table.
Probably the finest restaurant in the mid Atlantic area.
We went to Osteria 177 for our anniversary. The service was pleasant and prompt, and unobtrusive. We enjoyed cocktails, an appetizer, and well prepared steak and veal. The tiramisu for dessert was out of this world !
Consistently high quality food and service. Atmosphere is quiet and pleasant. Would definitely recommend.
can be noisy if you sit near a large group. Otherwise, a great place with gourmet food.
Wonderful meal and service. Fresh ingredients and specials. Extensive wine list.
Perfect for a special occasion dining experience. We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at Osteria and had exemplary food and service.
I'll make this short and simple. The only complaint that we had about our meal, would be that it was so good, and the service was so perfect...that it can only get worse from there.
Seriously- this may have been the single best meal we have ever had.
We arent foodies, but we have eaten at a lot of really fantastic places all over the US and EU. And really, Osteria 177 on this particular day, was better than anything Ive had, anywhere.
The service was especially good, so thank you to the host, bussers, waiter, etc. You guys were awesome.
As I said, I have no idea how it could have been better.
Oh- we had the Glazed Chilean Sea Bass, and Fettuccine di Pasta ai Porcini.
Staff friendly. Clean...but more people dinning in shorts and jeans than a nice formal dinner. Food fresh but bland and average.
