    Osso Steakhouse continues to be a great place to dine before heading to an event on Nob Hill. Excellent food, terrific service and a nice ambience. The bar is a nice place to enjoy a cocktail without the crowds.

    Our waiter was very attentive but something is wrong in the kitchen. A mocktail was ordered that came with alcohol, the fish dish had to be returned for the poor quality of the fish and the replacement steak ordered medium came rare. The manager was very nice and comped the two entrees.

    The Akaushi dry-aged rib-eye steak was cook to perfection along with the mushroom demi-glaze, mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. My server was attentive without being ever present.

    Our server Tom was very friendly. The wine selection was great. We loved our steaks and the potatoes au gratin and French fries were delicious sides. This place felt very special and I love how it was a little tucked away from the street. Would love to come back!

    Restaurant responded promptly and generously via OpenTable about increasing the number of people in our reservation. We were tight on time because we were going to a show at The Masonic. Server handled our table and moved us along well. We had the bone-in rib eye, chicken, mash, creamed spinach, mushrooms, kale Caesar and shishito peppers. Everything was absolutely delicious except the kale in the salad would have benefited from being picked younger. Looking forward to going back. The sear on the steak was perfect.

    Whenever people in my house feel blue, I take them Osso Steakhouse. The place is real classy looking and we had a table by the window. We started with the bread and crab cakes (I think the best in SF) and salad (chicories, lucy glo apple, goat cheese, candied pecans, honey mustard vinaigrette) - simply delicious. I had the petit filet mignon and mashed potatoes - the filet was awesome - crispy on the outside and cooked perfectly on the inside. My son had the NY Strip Steak with Bearnaise sauce and creamed spinach. We ended the meal with some really fine cabernet, we shared an apple crisp with vanilla ice cream. By the time we left, we had big smiles and full tummies.

    Great service, wonderful wine selection, but sadly the food itself was just meh. The shishito peppers were an extremely hot batch and were inedible (we understand this happens, but maybe chef should check?) and were told they would be taken off the bill ($12) but they were not. Ribeye was just ok - didn't seem very flavorful, and the baked potato (sans all the bacon and cheese ick) was just plunked on a plate without so much as a chive to garnish. Such a great place but we were disappointed.

    We had bone-in rib eye steaks all around and they were cooked perfectly as ordered. Food was delicious. Service was excellent and we especially appreciated Luis’ attentiveness.

    Wonderful, as always. The filet was cooked perfectly and all accoutrements paired well. We had a bottle of Bordeaux that went beautifully with the meal.

    Wait staff and hostess are 5 stars. Food is good (lobster,lamb)but needs a bit of finesse and tastiness to get from a 4 to a 5. Would go back and try something different next time.

    Food was extremely salty especially the lamb and bone marrow. On our second order of drinks it took almost 20 minutes to receive when the place only had two tables remaining including ours. The $150 tomahawk had to be sent back because it was completely rare. Never received either order of creamed spinach or sautéed spinach nor our potatoes and they didn’t even know until I let them know to just take it off the bill. I spent over $1000 and even in the notes they didn’t bring a dessert for my cousin in which it was his birthday. I was honestly embarrassed for choosing this place.

    We have dined at Osso many times over the years and have always loved everything we have ordered. This time was disappointing. The bone in steak was very gristly and stringy. This has never happened before. We have always referred friends to Osso because of their fabulous steaks. We ordered baked potato and got potatoes gratin. We ordered sautéed spinach and got creamed spinach. So for the price you pay at Osso… it was just a huge letdown.

    Starting with the hostess, she actually read my special note when booking the reservation, which asked for a quiet table and mentioned it as soon as we arrived. I thought that was so nice. The service here was really great and it’s a beautiful space. We chose to do the special restaurant week tasting menu. I was full after the wedge salad, it was big! My Branzino was delicious! My boyfriend chose the steak option, they didn’t have the flat iron that was on the menu and had noted that they thought it was being replaced by the filet, but in the end he actually got a skirt steak which was disappointing to him. Overall we really enjoyed our time here.

    Fine dining for sure. People were dressed in jeans but they dressed them up with a nice blouse or jacket. It’s upscale for sure. The service was excellent. We ordered lamb chops. They were good but I’ve had better. Also had the rib eye, which was excellent. The mashed potatoes were very good, as well as the spinach. This is a great place to take someone for a special date.

    I make the reservation for 8:45 pm and I soon we get to the restaurant they pushing you to order because they will close the kitchen in 2 min so my question is why they have 8:45 pm reservation?

    This is graded down as it was sold as fine dining , unfortunately the staff did not know the etiquette or manners for dining at a restaurant . They were however very pleasant people in themselves . I wasn't even half way through my starter when they cleared my husband's plate and our side plates. I was still eating my starter / appetiser when my husband's steak and side arrived and my main course too ! A short space of time and the my side of carrots also came to the table. We couldn't fit it all on our table for two . The steak knives arrived at the end of all this and i did eventually eat my lettuce and blue cheese appetiser and was able to eat my main ( a pie) that had just been sitting there . Obviously my husband also did not start his main until we could both eat together as you should! It is a nice restaurant if you don't take into account the above ,and the staff were smiley and pleasant .

    The bone in filet was the smallest piece of steak i have ever seen on a plate. For $68 it should have more substance than a child’s plate.

    The branzino was served skin side up. I flipped it over and ate only the flesh. The bone in rib-eye and lobster tail were fabulous. We were bummed that Natalie Merchant postponed her show, so we plan to return to Osso when it's rescheduled.

    Significant number of items on the menu were sold out. For a Monday night. No fish at all, except lobster. No branzino nor calamari. Then they ran out of lamb. No price accommodation either. I will not be going back soon. And too many menu changes. Old favorites are gone.
