The food and service is always excellent
Had a blast with all the specialty cocktails and their presentation - you have to see them to believe them! as well as the delicious food. Service started out great, definitely fell off as more people came in. We will be back!
Great evening out for dinner at Oro. Our waitress was friendly and helpful as this was our first experience with Oro. Food was delicious with favorites being the Mac-n-cheese, scallops, and crab cakes. We tried the grilled octopus for something adventurous and it was quite good too - very tender. We sat upstairs which provided a more intimate feeling. Overall, we loved it and plan to return.
All of the food was amazing. Service was as well, but they forgot to bring out two of the plates we ordered. Nonetheless, we really enjoyed the experience!
My Granddaughter birthday dinner was a huge success.
Seating is extremely tight and limited. The upstairs area was dark and squished together and the downstairs, while much nicer, had specific tables reserved. Even though we made a reservation, we got stuck at a small table that sat right against a wall. Fortunately, the Chef’s table was open, so we moved there and felt much better. The food was tasty. We had Ribs, Brussels, Bok Choy, and Paella. I’d recommend skipping the paella as the seafood was a bit over-cooked and was served with bay scallops. Our server was wonderful and easygoing. It is on the pricier side, but I thought the portions were fair for tapas style.
Everything is great! Food and ambiance but one thing is that if you sit upstairs you get a lot of vibration from the downstairs kitchen.
The hostess staff was not very friendly. They almost seemed bothered to seat us even though we had a reservation. They just continued the conversation they were having that was not relevant to our table. However, the food and wait service was fantastic.
This is a gem of a find in the heart of the city. Some of the best food I've eaten in a long time. It's an experience, not just a meal. The staff are all top notch!
Will return. Enjoyed the food and the experience
Our fourth (?) visit was just as fine and pleasurable as the others. Service was attentive and delightful without being overbearing, and every bite and sip was delicious: scallops with wild mushroom risotto, Brussels, bok choy, a red blend, creme brûlée and Remy Martin. Restaurants are fragile phenomena...take advantage of ORO while it’s here.
The service was fantastic! The server made great suggestions for us and was very attentive. The dumplings could have been a bit more flavorful. The cauliflower was incredible and made great leftovers!
This was a wonderful dining experience! For a girl’s night out, Orzo exceeded our expectations. The food was incredible; I am still dreaming of the bacon wrapped dates with Gorgonzola! The baked mini brie almost caused a fight for the last bite, and the seared scallops with mushroom risotto almost didn’t get it’s own photo! And the drinks. WOW! The presentations of the cocktails is alone worth a trip to Oro! Everything was wonderful; our server Christiana (I hope I spelled that right!) was so helpful and kind, and eager to point us in the right direction with our choices. I can not wait to return, and sample more of the offerings.
The meal was good I hate that it took 10 to15 minutes for somebody to even come take my order but overall great meal really cool restaurant.
Highly recommend the tasting menu. We opted to make our experience pescatarian, and it was great. We enjoyed not having to make decisions, and the delicious variety of food that came out, a couple dishes at a time. All four of us left full.
(The sesame cauliflower was our overall favorite.)
Our server barely came to our table 3-4 times. IT was not an issue that would prevent us from returning to the restaurant.
Delicious food and wonderful atmosphere! Our server was attentive and helpful. We will definitely visit again.
Great food, excellent service and atmosphere- will be back
Excellent food, drink, and service. No fluff , just an amazing dining experience
THough it was a little loud for use when the tables were all filled, the food and service were outstanding. Would go back, but might request table on the first floor in the rear to avoid the noise.
1st time, but NEVER AGAIN!!!
We have been visiting nice restaurants around the Triangle and Asheville for a while and NEVER had an experience as bad as this one. We had a reservation for Downtown Raleigh Restaurant Week at 6:45pm. We got to the restaurant at 6:30pm, and they had empty tables, but ours was not ready. We went outside and waited another 10 minutes. When we went back the greeter was not at the podium, after waiting a while she came back and said that they were getting our table ready (mind that they had open tables).
When we were finally seated, it took an eternity for someone to acknowledge us and fill our glasses with water. For those of you asking, we did not leave at that moment because a big storm was coming, it was Restaurant Week, and we had our teenage kids with us. To make the long story short. Our drinks arrived minutes after we were done with our appetizers, never got soda refills for the kids or asked if we wanted to order another cocktail, etc. The food was okay but not spectacular.
We use Restaurant Week as a way to see what local restaurants have to offer. That is the barometer we use to plan our nights without the kids. It was so bad that on our way back home, we drove by Sullivan's and everyone symbolically apologized to them from the car. I can not believe that looking for something different, we passed on Sullivan's to try that disaster of a restaurant.
We visited for our Anniversary
The tables were VERY close to each other and people next to us were LOUD
Our server was able to accommodate us at other table where my wife felt more comfortable
The food was great - we had the restaurant week menu
Delicious restaurant week menu! Great value and fantastic meal.
Energetic for noise level? Seriously this place is EXTREMELY LOUD and it puts a major crimp on enjoying a meal with your date. The cement walls bounce the noise from people "talking" to each other and causing people to become louder, a vicious cycle. For sanities sake install some noise absorption art panals. The food is great just bring ear plugs or book the last time slot.
This was my first time enjoying a meal at ORO. It was fantastic. I definitely will be back really soon.
Tried Oro during restaurant week. Service was outstanding and the food was very good.
One of my favorites in Raleigh. Never had a bad meal. Every dish is amazing!
Everything was great. Our waiter, Corey, was outstanding.
I think it’s a great place to get drinks, but I wasn’t in love with the food
We were celebrating our anniversary with friends from Europe and had the tasting menu. We ordered a 2015 French wine and she brought a 2016 bottle. She said that was all they had from the distributor. The portions of food were okay but the value for $45 per person was crazy! Terrible value for what we got and its quality. The second bottle of wine, a Rioja, was served WAY too cold. When we asked about it, our server aimed to convince us that that’s the way such a quality of wine should be served - not true! Overall, I’m pretty certain we wouldn’t return. However, we were thrilled to celebrate with our friends!
We started with Bath and Boozy dink’s which were fantastic and a unique experience. The bacon wrapped dates were a full burst of amazing flavor and we really enjoyed the Brie cheese dish. Ended the night with the S’mores dessert which was another great fun experience. Will definitely be back !!
Oro was the best restaurant me and my wife have been too in a long time! The entire experience was wonderful. And the meal was out of this world. Me and my wife order our meal twice it was so good!
We had a great dinner at Oro. The tempura teriyaki cauliflower was exceptional. My passionfruit ribs were smoked in applewood and came to the table with a glass cover. When the cover was removed, that delicious smoke poured out. Great presentation. Our server was great, but service wasn't speedy. There is a good wine list, but it is very pricey ($24 for a glass of Pinot Noir) even by restaurant standards. A very enjoyable dining experience.
Really delicious! Try a cocktail - some of the glasses are so creative! I love tapas restaurants, and this one did not disappoint! I highly recommend the sea bass. We went for date night! Beautiful interior and energetic service.
The Hostess was very accommodating as we required seating in the downstairs dining room! Originally, our seats were upstairs.
Our Server, Cory, was very courteous as well as pleasant!
Tapas dishes were very tasty!
My tastebuds were dancing with joy with each dish!
I am shocked that I had not heard about ORO until now. The food was absolutely amazing, service was incredible, and we had 0 complaints. The cocktails were so fun!
Service was excellent and management was present and attentive, just a little disappointed with the food. The brie plate and beef tartare came with the same pre-packaged toast crackers. Some actual crostini/grilled bread would have gone a long way to improve both dishes. Anyway, we enjoyed the evening!
We enjoyed our meal tremendously. Bacon wrapped dates, shrimp tempura, key lime mousse, and molten chocolate cake were highlights. The service was impeccable. We did think that the first several plates were slightly undercooked ~ definitely on the rare side ~ so possibly something to mention if important to you.
Food was good! Loved the scallops and truffle mac & cheese! Service was great - it seemed like the servers were working as a team and helping each other out.
