Oriole is a fancy and expensive tasting menu restaurant that’s great for a special occasion.
Fabulous experience! After traveling all day, my husband and I were unable to make our 5:30 reservation. I frantically called to schedule a later time and Erin was very understanding and cooperative. Our experience was the best ever!
I was expecting amazing, but Oriole truly blew me away. Normally in tasting menus, there are always a couple of dishes that I don't care for - but I absolutely loved every single bite. It was the perfect amount of food to feel 100% satisfied without feeling uncomfortable full. The Chef even came out to shave fresh truffle on one of the dishes. His attention to detail can be seen and tasted in every dish. Truly an experience everyone needs to have!
Fantastic, an experience worth traveling to Chicago for. Thanks a lot from the Norwegians!
Fantastic experience - A must!
Unique and unexpected location.
The whole crew is making everything to get the best experience ever and you cannot be disappointed....
Food was absolutely outstanding - the best I ever had in the US (am à French fellow!)
Pretentious , precious, and way overpriced. One daily tasting , and no clue what you will be served until each miniature course appears. All part of the experience. While the staff calls in advance to see if you have allergies, there are no other questions asked about preferences. The only options provided are whether one wants the standard wine pairing, the tea pairing, or the reserve pairing (at $250 per person in addition to the menu). A la carte is only offered for beverages. We opted for the reserve pairing and were underwhelmed. Each wine was described in unnecessarily painstaking - indeed at times intrusive - detail, primarily to let us know how few bottles the vintners produced and how lucky we were to taste these unique wines. Unfortunately rarity did not equate to tasty or impressive. The wines - virtually all white - were fine. I find it difficult to imagine that the standard pairing was so inferior to make the premium worth it. It seems to be the kind of place where you say you've been and loved it to say you've been and loved it. Sorry - from the perspective of this old New Yorker, who has had many fine dining experiences, this was disappointing.
We went for our wedding anniversary. Definitely a special occasion place BUT not because it is stuffy or "special occasion", it was just so very very delicious and the atmosphere is cool, chic and beautiful. The food was incredible. We have been to the French Laundry, many of Alain Ducasse's restaurants, and many other Michelon Star restaurants and this was/is one of my favorites.
excellent service, good plating, good decoration for the restaurant, food was great but wasn't excellent, a bit salty for me
One of America’s best restaurants.
Our 4th Time dining at Oriole. Always amazing food and service
Great restaurent. The food was excellent. The wine was outstanding. Credit to the sommelier, she really knows her stuff. A tad pricy but given the compexity and quality of the food I understand why it costs so much. Definately one the top restaurents in the US. I highly recommend everyone goes.
Amazing, wonderful, perfect. Every dish was superb and beautifully presented. The wine pairing was interesting and the whole evening was just special!
Hands down the best restaurant in Chicago (and we’ve been to Alinea). Pairings were perfection. Food constantly changes and improves with every visit. Flawless service!
Had an exceptional experience at Oriole! The service was amazing and the food exquisite! I took my mom and dad out since I have been away for so long to show them my appreciation for what they do. It was an experiance that will not be forgotten.
Everything was exquisite
One of the best meals I've had in my life! Food, and service were incredible. Highly recommended as a "bucket list" restaurant, if you are a foodie.
I learned something new about Michelin stars by going to Oriole. Michelin no longer considers ambiance when rating a restaurant. This was confirmed by a program that I recently saw on TV. The new head of Michelin has changed the rating system and they no longer consider ambiance.
The food was excellent even though the portions were very small for the most part. The ambiance was better suited for a craft beer and hamburger joint. It included brick walls, very little decorations, paper globe lights which you can find at IKEA, exposed HVAC ducts, and an old industrial elevator you walk through to get into the restaurant.
The other disappointment was that the food came out to quick. I ordered the wine pairing and I soon had three wines on the table which made it hard to pair the wine with the course I was having. What made matters worse was the waitress came over and told me that the food was "time sensitive". It was very irritating to be rushed when paying these prices.
I was also shocked that there wa no valet. Really, a Michelin 2 Star with no valet, and on a street that looked more like a not too safe alley behind some warehouses.
We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and had a night to remember. The food was spectacular and the service was perfect — attentive without being imposing. Highly recommend this for a truly special night.
Best culinary experience of my life. An amazing journey through each bite and sip. Pairings were spot on! Staff was most hospitable, nothing pretentious. A must-do in Chicago. You will not be disappointed!
Incredible food and customer service. Can’t give enough praise. Would absolutely go again. Bravo!
Very nice evening! World class dining...
As usual- beautifully presented creative food in a relaxed atmosphere with very pleasant, knowledgeable staff. A fun experience not to be missed.
Amazing! Only reason why value is lower than perfect is that it’s an expensive splurge, but we left full and happy!
Exemplary, special, invites tactical nostalgia with each course, contemporary and therefore accessible, and most of all, fun! A real treat to meet Chef Noah, to boot.
Chef Noah is a genius . Amazing food amazing presentation. Very welcoming
A well rounded experience from the pre dining texts to excellent support staff and cuisine. The wine pairings were delightful. The 13 menu items were creative. We were preplay but everything was timed perfectly including the taxi and we made it there with no issues. Thank you to the entire team for making the evening a memorable experience.
It was an amazing foody moment !
Our best experience about food !
The waiters were so great !!
One word for Oriole: Amazing!
Great service food was awesome couldn’t find a bad thing to say if I tried
Spectacular service and food
Oriole is one of the best restaurants in Chicago with a stellar tasting menu, marvelous service and an elegant dining room that exudes ambience. Bring a high-dollar credit card to be able to depart with cash left in your pocket.
Our experience was superb. Every component of the 13-course tasting menu was both creative and delicious. The service was beyond outstanding. Each of the several servers was willing to take a moment for friendly conversation. Attention to detail was jaw-dropping. When the servers noted that my wife is left-handed, the, without comment, arranged the cutlery to reflect it. At the end of the meal we were presented with printed menus. On my wife's, one item differed from mine---she avoids oysters and the souvenir reflected the substitution. The price was steep, but absolutely worth it. I hope that we will visit many times in the future.
Food was amazing! Every course was better than the last. Additionally the service was top-notch as they were incredibly attentive without being overbearing. They really went above and beyond to make our night special.
We were very excited to try Oriole after a friend recommended it. It does not disappoint! Several days before the reservation they texted me asking for dietary restrictions. I can't eat gluten, dairy, or egg. I was prepared to "cheat" or give some of my courses to my husband. However, most of the dishes did not need adjustment and for some they created a new dish just for me that looked exactly like the "normal" one. And everything was delicious!! Great service, great attention to detail, and most importantly really really great food. I highly recommend this place.
My all time favorite restaurant in the world. I've eaten at some of the finest restaurants in NYC, New Jersey and middle east. Oriole destroys every Michelin Star restaurant I've ever been to. It was 13 courses. They were able to change some items on the menu for me because of my dietary restriction. I don't drink alcohol but they have an amazing non alcoholic drink paring. So 13 courses and 9 non alcoholic drink pairing. Absolutely the best meal of my life. Noah Sandoval is a magician. He was very happy to hear when I told him he's a magician haha. I'm already looking forward to his second restaurant he is planning to open in summer. I'm from Jersey but I'd fly again just to eat there. The entire team at Oriole is incredible. I'll never forget this experience.
The 2nd best meal I have had in my life. Deeply imaginative. Will go again and again.
A fantastic tasting menu that makes sure to place deliciousness above all. While there is certainly a lot of creativity, they don't over do it and wind up with dishes that are more "interesting" than delicious. The meal is well paced and the service is seamless.
Amazing. Absolutely outstanding - everything was perfect, well balanced. Can’t wait to go back!
Oriole was a revelation. Excellent service/ambiance/food. Definitely a place that impresses.
Food only rivaled by the service
Everything was perfect from walking through the old freight elevator to the bathrooms- we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. They have really thought of it all and you can tell the care and quality that goes into everything. The food and drinks were perfectly balanced- every bite was mesmerizing!
