Very nice, good service and food was delicious.
Roy’s is Always fabulous.
My husband and I went to Roy’s to celebrate our anniversary on 2/19/20 and the experience was simply amazing. The staff went above and beyond our expectations to create a really memorable night for us and we really appreciated it. The food and wine were delicious and Mahalo to our server Dylan he was pretty awesome! We look forward to returning soon.
Probably one of the best places I've ever eaten at around the world. The menu has so much choice. Our meals were cooked to perfection. I had the Honey Mustard Grilled Beef Short Ribs which melted in my mouth. Compliments to the chef as it was seriously amazing.
The location and view is stunning. Service and overall quality stunning.
I can't wait to go back next time we visit Oahu.
Excellent experience. Quality of service and food were outstanding.
Food is always good. Specials rotate everyday which is a nice touch to keep things fresh. Restaurant is very noisy and tables are very close together. I understand that the desserts take a while to prepare and it does make sense to give the customers the option to order ahead of time but it does detract from the fine dining experience when I have to choose in a split second while eating my appetizer. Overall, the restaurant is good and has always had good food.
The service was impeccable. I was impressed with the little things they did to help celebrate our anniversary.
Excellent Service, Great Staff, Even on a busy Valentine’s Day night the staff was very attentive. The wine pairing was full of great wines. Overall 10/10! Worth the traveling time!
In a word: disappointing. I went on a Valentine day, and the service was slow. The couple next to us left without getting their food because it came out too late. The food was not good. Appetizers were mediocre at best, the main dish was also just meh. For the price, it wasn't worth it. Just go to the one in Waikiki.
I received the worst service I ever had in my life. It was Valentine’s Day and I planned the evening far in advance, I’m not quite sure why the service was so bad.
Went there for Valentine's day and had their fixed menu. The food was great and they wait staff attentive. We have been here before and it has always been good. The price is a little hight, but it was a special occasion
We went on Valentine’s Day so it was a set menu. 4 out of 5 courses were good, but the salad was a throw away course. The scallops were delicious. They were so busy that half the time our wine pairings came after we had finished the course. At $130/pp...I expected more. Wouldn’t recommend it to others. I’d recommend Haleiwa Joe’s on the East side...same prices but impeccable service.
Fish dishes looked amazing. Service was attentive and friendly. A nice birthday evening. The kids in our party were well looked after which was best of all.
There was obviously no chef in the kidchen....food was insanely salty
not worth the price at all!
Great food, great service, great sunset, excellent prix fixe menu option! Mahalo!
The food was delicious pleasant.
Great views! Amazing food ! Very good service
Food was phenomenal. The best part was how friendly and engaging the hostess was on the first floor. She smiled while engaging with us and our child. Not sure her name but she was great.
Nice ocean view table. Uneven food, but some was great!
The food has gone down hill, but the chocolate souffle is always outstanding. Service has very good, our waiter was very friendly.
Could not have had a better night and dinner. Terrific service, and amazing food. Don’t know what else to say!
Always a good experience at Roy’s of Hawaii Kai. .
Zach at the bar was very knowledgeable and happy to provide suggestions. One suggestion was to get smaller portions of food and more dishes so we could have a variety of foods to try. This suggestion was great because I tried things I wouldn't normally order and everything we ate was delicious!
We had just the best time! The wait help was so much fun!
Great location and very good food/service. Would highly recommend.
Staff was very attentive and food was good.
Great service. Love the chocolate souffle!
Good food. Great customer service
Impromptu evening was accomodated with ease. Menu was limited, but the food was amazing! The service was excellent and had a comfortable yet classy feeling.
Daughter going back to college.
Asian american fusion. Solidly done. Have had variations of all dishes in other restaurants. Not unique or mind-blowing but well done and reasonably priced. Slightly underwealming cocktail program compared to today's standards. Very good desserts and attentive efficient service. Would not come back again as a tourist having experienced it once.
We had a very lovely dinner at the original Roy’s in Hawaii Kai in the last night of a week holiday in Oahu.
The reception and hostesses were incredibly kind and helpful as were running 45 minutes late stuck in rainy traffic jams from Pearl Harbor! It was a Friday evening and they did not need to be as accommodating as they were. Thank you.
Our table upstairs was lovely. Unfortunately we didn’t make it until dark so we were not able to enjoy the view that’s we knew was out there.
The food was wonderful. Elegant presentation without being “too fussy”. The quality and flavor of the food spoke for itself. The salad was dressed perfectly. The appetizer prawns were a visual treat. My Combined Ahi/yellow tail was incredible. My wife’s pork chop was sublime, if a pork chop could be described as that.
The wine list is comprehensive. The wines by the glass were limited in scope but nice enough variety to satisfy most wine enthusiasts. The house Prosecco btw is from valdobiadene, the tastiest subregion.
Only complaint, very subjective is the butterfish misoyaki. I understand that it is not truly a butterfish, but an imported cod. It reminded me of my Japanese mother’s country style fish cooked in soy sauce. Tasty but not memorable.
Roy’s molten chocolate cake is an irresistable force. Why fight the temptation?
The location is in a shopping mall as are many of the good Hawaiian restaurants. Parking, I must warn is problematic on a Friday evening. You may want to take an Uber to avoid the hassle.
I have come to the original Roy’s in Hawaii Kai many times in the past and it has always been excellent. However, the most recent time I visited was the worst dining experience I’ve had in recent memory at any restaurant.
It started off bad because we had a reservation (booked via opentable) for 2 people at 7:30. The restaurant didn’t seem overly busy but we were made to wait until 7:45 before we were seated.
Once seated, we promptly ordered appetizers and entrees. The appetizers arrived quickly and were pretty good (the ribs and spring rolls).
We then waited another 30+ minutes for the entrees. I didn’t mind waiting knowing I would certainly be delivered a delicious entree that is expected from a place like Roy’s. I ordered the filet mignon and when it arrived and I cut into it, it was cold, bloody and raw. It took me about 5 minutes to flag down a waiter in passing so I could send my steak back. About 10 minutes later (when the other person I was dining with had already finished their meal) my steak was brought back by who I assume was the manager that evening. He quickly dropped the steak off on the table and ran away (didn’t bother to ask me to cut into it to make sure it was properly cooked). I cut into my new steak and it was just as bloody and raw as the first one. It took me another 5 plus minutes to flag someone else down and send it back to the kitchen and tell them I’m giving up on eating my entree. The only person who showed true remorse over this whole debacle was the bus boy who said he wouldn’t have eaten a steak that raw either. They took the entrees off the bill which was nice but I would’ve much rather have eaten my steak and paid for it than have the experience that I got. Funny enough, the table behind us didn’t finish their pork chop because it was too raw as well. I think whoever was working the grill or broiler that night needs serious lessons on how to cook things properly.
I sure hope this isn’t the new normal at Roy’s.
The food was mixed with wonderful butter fish but poke salad tuna unflavored and only a dressing on it. Filet and scampi good but nothing special.Lava cake wonderful. Service tried to be top notch but didn’t offer pepper or clean crumbs off. View is wonderful so for special time, it may be worth it. Very expensive for quality just middle of road for most dishes.
the staff was very kind and knowledgeable of my anniversary, everyone was saying happy anniversary to us and even though we didn’t order a dessert, they brought out a complimentary happy anniversary dessert. they were really busy but the staff made sure to check on us multiple times throughout our dinner. roy’s hawai‘i kai really made our night special. you truly feel da aloha hea!
The waiter rushed us repeatedly even though the restaurant was half empty on a Monday evening.
