   My family recently dined at Opus 9 for Father's Day. My husband and I enjoyed our filet mignon and our son enjoyed his cheeseburger. The wine selection was fantastic and our server was very attentive throughout the evening. My son loved his cheesecake for dessert and my husband is still raving about the key lime pie. It was a fantastic dining experience and we would return again.

   This place has gone downhill in the 2 years we’ve lived here. We had a bad experience a while back and returned only because we had a free entree anniversary gift. My wife’s fillet didn’t look like a fillet — it was flat and gray. No char as one would expect from a steakhouse. It certainly didn’t taste like prime beef, which one would expect. My crab stuffed shrimp was mediocre — crab was okay, shrimp needed seasoning and there was too much tasteless sauce. Don’t think you’re getting a real steakhouse meal here. This is no Flemings or Ruth’s Chris or an upscale local steakhouse you’d find in a big city. The atmosphere is better than the two tourist trap steakhouses on Richmond Road but the food isn’t much better. It’s too bad.

As you may recall from my previous correspondence, we read each and every review in our enduring effort to grow our business. I am glad to know you have enjoyed us in the past and enjoy our atmosphere, but so sorry to hear that the food on your more recent visit left something to be desired. We typically have received fine comments on both our food and service, and I regret that this was not the case for you. As I have mentioned before, if ever any part of your meal is not just as you enjoy, please do not hesitate to let us know when you are here. As always, we are happy to replace any item that does not delight. I hope we might see you again for a meal as well prepared as it is served.

   This is our go too restaurant in the city. Dine here a couple of times a month. Today’s visit was o’k but not one of its normal stellar performances. Service was very slow today. I got my drink ( only ice tea) half way through my meal. Normally the Crab Cakes are great but today’s didn’t have their normal lumps pieces of crab but more shredded crab then normal. All said the value is still good. They have set a high bar for themselves so expectations are also high.

   Our waiter was not seasoned nor a good listener. Some of the food was tipped not hot. Only the steaks came out sizzling. The tables for 4 are entirely too small to hold food ordered.

   This is only the second time I’ve eaten at Opus 9. My first was many years ago, but it was such a memorable experience, I wanted to celebrate my sister’s birthday here. It did not disappoint. From the greeting by the hostess, our server and the meal, everything was superb! Our server, Leslie, was friendly and attentive. Will definitely return!

   OPUS appears to be very stringent about their rules. We set up a 1 pm reservation, and, when we arrived, they escorted us to a table with the least amount of privacy in the restaurant. We were forced to celebrate our 52nd anniversary by being a part of the conversations going on at 4 tables. When we asked to be.moved to a different table the receptionist informed us that there were none available (while we were looking at 2 empty ones in the same room!) We will have our celebrations at different restaurants from now on, and we advise others to do the same.

   Thank you for your post here on OpenTable. I am so sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your table location when you joined us for your anniversary. While there were indeed open tables in the same room, our host erroneously assumed that you would not want any of those tables because they were in the same room. In all other areas of the restaurant we had large parties, each of our five booths had been requested, and our largest room had been reserved with a private party of 30. Even the three tables in our bar had been requested so the host could not offer those. I am so sorry if she did not graciously communicate this with you or allow you to take another table in the same room.

   Slow Monday but worth the trip for the carryover Surf &Turf special. This has a lot of food value for $40. One dish was S&T with scallops. The second was the Seafood Medley - a bit pricey at $47. The steak and scallop dish was served with unseared scallops and sent back. The small filet returned a bit under par. The medley was good. For this spot it was a lazy job and a bit too casual. Wine on Sunday only is half price with a regular menu item so we paid full for a decent no cork Oregon Pinot. Kudos for posting on the front door that gentlemen must remove hats. I’ve seen far too many nice places accept overly casual dress. Hats don’t belong in a restaurant of this caliber.
