Opus 9 Steakhouse
The food and service were very good. Enjoyed this nice setting for catching up with an old friend.
I went there for my birthday. There weren’t any specials offered to me I guess because it was for brunch. My waitress wished me happy birthday and my table had a card on it that said happy birthday. Food was great though.
The waiter and waitress were outstanding - Cody and Tara. We had the Chateaubriand and it was cooked to perfection. The gravy with the portobello mushrooms was great as well. This was our first experience at Opus 9 and I would definitely recommend it - I gave the "value" only a good rating because I found the prices for the steaks a little high. All in all a great experience - and great music - really sets the mood to have a nice meal and enjoy your company.
Absolutely the best Steakhouse in Williamsburg VA. Don't visit Williamsburg without trying this place!
Wonderful restaurant for a group of friends to reconnect with one another.
Fantastic food and the server was amazing!
It was the most amazing experience that we have had in a long time. Travis was amazing! Opus9 has a gem not only with the restaurant but with all of the waiters, especially Travis! I can’t wait for our next adventure to Opus 9
Shrimp cocktail was great, and New York strip was perfect.
Always have consistent quality and service. Especially enjoy the specials on Sunday/Monday evenings.
Awesome! My mother and family enjoyed their meals.
Our server/ sommelier Travis was excellent and interesting. Food and drinks spectacular as always.
Best steak house in the area. The land and sea promo is a great value.
always a great experience. Service was outstanding. And food was excellent!!!!!!
I was disappointed in my visit this time. Food and ambiance were fine, but the service was much poorer than on other occasions. We had two waiters, both with the same name, but we did not get water or attention for a wine order for over 15 minutes after being seated. It was in the 7-7:45 time range, so maybe it was too busy and maybe under staffed, but it was not what I recall. I still like the restaurant and will return, but it was not as satisfactory as before. The service did improve later in the evening.
Thank you for posting your review on Opentable. I am glad you enjoyed the food & ambiance but sorry your server disappointed in any way. Travis is typically well received & I regret that this was not the case for you. I have attempted to reach you by phone & I have left a voice mail. Might you take a moment to return my call so I can offer amends in a more direct & appropriate manner? I truly appreciate your time & insight. Sincerely, Jessica Smith Director of Sales & Marketing 757-645-4779
Our server was very knowledgeable & helped us decide what we should have for dinner. She was very attentive but not overbearing. Our food was delicious & filling. We had soup, salad, entree & dessert. Everything was delicious.
I love Opus 9. Been there twice now. My date ordered the cowboy ribeye which was just ok, a little tuff, but great tasting. I ordered the lamb chops, delicious, but I ordered them medium and they came out a little more cooked than rare. For the overall expectation of the quality restaurant Opus 9 is, that should never happen. It’s definitely not a deal breaker from going back, but that should never happen. The service was 5 star and their concern that the chops were served under cooked, shows their concern for quality.
Best lamb chops anywhere.
My husband and I made reservations to dine on New Year's Eve at Opus 9 Williamsburg weeks ago. We had eaten there previously and were very happy with our food and experience. Our reservations were for six, we arrived fifteen minutes ahead, and, were properly attired for elegant dining. We were shocked and flabbergasted, to find, that our dining experience last night, was nothing short of embarrassing and a huge disappointment. We ordered a small Casear' salad for me, onion soup for my husband. My lettuce was "wet", his soup was tepid and salty, and, he had no spoon to eat it with, having to opt for a teaspoon on the table. I was not offered cracked pepper. There was "something in his Coke" and that had to go back. We ordered our steaks, a rib eye for me as medium well, and his Cowboy rib eye as well done. Mine came out "hemorrhaging" as did his steak! Back to the kitchen both steaks returned. When brought out again, they were over done, no flavor, no sauce offered. I put some of the honey butter on mine but, could not chew it. When the Manager (Dyllon?) returned to our table, he asked how things were, and, I did indeed voice our discontent. He was a bit to aggressive with his interrogation for my tastes! I finally stopped him and said "When a lady expresses her discontentment and disappointment to you, that alone, should be sufficient!" To late, our meals were ruined, our night ruined, and we will opt, not to return. My meal, was removed from my bill, for which, I was grateful. Our Server was wonderful, very apologetic, but, the mood as one knows when dining out, once breached, cannot be recaptured. We drove four hours to return to celebrate our New Year's Eve in Williamsburg, and, at this restaurant. While I understand that holidays are stressful for us all, when one chooses an establishment to dine, one is then, a "client" who expects their meal to be well presented, and delicious. Sorry Opus 9, it is back to the drawing board for you!
Thank you for your post. We are sorry for the offence; it was never Dylan's intention to offend you in any way. He sends his deepest apologies if he seemed anything other than hospitable. We understand that comping your meal did not salvage your entire evening. We do sincerely apologize.
Opus 9 has great food and great service. This is a must place for fine dining and special occasions. The food is alway great and the service is also always great.
Overall very good. Worth the price. great steaks and very good wine selection. Need better fries though. Their hand cut fries were better characterized as shoe string. Pretty bland. Need real cut fries, fried crispy, with parmesan, garlic and truffle oil.
Lunch special is great!
Always a wonderful experience and quickly became my new favorite place
Another great meal at Opus. Thank you.
My father and I decided to try Opus 9 based on a recommendation from a friend. We were not disappointed. The staff was exceptionally friendly and made great recommendations after asking what we typically enjoyed. Dad was not too hungry, but he loved the Salmon and even took one of my Cajun Barbecue Shrimp! I had the bone-in Rib-eye and it was perfectly cooked to my specifications medium-rare. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a great steak dinner!
We love going to Opus 9 whenever we visit Williamsburg. The food is always delicious and the service is usually excellent. This time, our server was a bit "off", but the food and wine were great.
My son and I went to Opus 9 on Monday night to take advantage of a three-course steak and seafood special for $29.95. The food is always good here and it is one of my favorite restaurants in town. David was our server and he was very efficient and a master at the upsell. I only had a couple of minor complaints regarding my meal; one was that my piece of steak had a couple of streaks of gristle and was partially inedible and two, the crabcake was hardly a tablespoon full placed more as a garnish to the steak. My son seemed okay with his steak and scallops but said it certainly was not the meal he expected from here. Everything was actually well-prepared and tasted very good but just seemed second class in presentation and quality. Yet, as I said before I know Opus 9 to be an excellent restaurant and will return again and again but will order from the regular menu in the future.
Thank you for taking the time to post your review on Opentable, Mrs. Neal. I am sorry to hear you found your crabcakes small & your steak anything other than perfect. Please, if ever you encounter such an issue, let us know while you are here & we will take immediate action to correct it for you if the problem is identified. We do all we can, up to an including replacing an item if need be to ensure you have just what you wish. We hope to see you again at Opus 9 very soon. Sincerely, J. Smith
This was my 1st visit and it was a very good experience. The food was great the want staff was great and I really enjoy the evening
We had a lovely experience! Great food, great service. Perfect place to celebrate our 10 year anniversary!
This establishment tries to be a high-end steak restaurant. It’s nice, but not high-end. But they do charge high-end prices.
First bottle of wine-out of it
Second bottle-out of it
Third bottle recommended by manager-had started turning to vinegar
Fourth bottle-no one on staff familiar
Fifth-ordinary bottle they serve by glass
Waiter not familiar with specials of the night, we had to mention
Our anniversary, waiter never mentioned even though on table card
Neither wine nor dessert taken off Bill
Expected better from this restaurant that we frequent often
We were expecting a delicious brunch with properly prepared prime rib, which was too fatty and tough, omletes were dry and tasteless, pastries were just ok. Our server did not keep up with our table because she had a larger one. Unfortunately we tipped accordingly. We normally tip 30% for a nice brunch. This needs a LOT of work. Will not be coming back nor recommending to anyone.
Great service and great food.
Delicious meal as always. Jon was a great server - really enjoyed our time with him
Meal was amazing and server was really kind and sweet
We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary at Opus 9 and it was great. Luis was a superb waiter and enhanced our meal with good service and a great wit. The food was great and we really enjoyed our time there. We will go back many times in the future.
This was a very enjoyable anniversary dinner. The service was excellent and our dinners and wine were equally as good. We will be back.
Was in town for the Illumination festivities for the weekend and had brunch at Opus on Sunday and dinner celebrating a birthday on the 9th. The food was excellent and service impeccable on both days. Overall it was a grand experience and will be back next year.
We had an excellent meal and service was also excellent. We would definitely recommend this restaurant to others and come again the next time we are in the area.
